    Hi everyone!
I hope you have all been well and 2016 has started off being a fantastic year for you. We are going to announce all of the spring tour dates tomorrow so I thought I'd touch base with you.  If any of you plan on attending the shows and would like to say hi to Jeff or take a photo with him after the show, please be sure to drop me an email and I'll work it out for you.
Aside from this tour, Jeff has been playing in the States A LOT and had a wildly successful SXSW.  He did an interview with Ebro Darden on Beats1 where he talks about never being worried about being replaced by an ipod. Here's the link in case you want to give it a listen: https://itunes.apple.com/us/post/idsa.1cc98f68-ec92-11e5-9609-3cab93fc3d23
He also remixed Anderson Paak's "Room In Here" which available exclusively on Apple Music.
Last month, Jeff flew a bunch of musicians and producers in to start work on a new project. I can't confirm or deny the title of the new project BUT i can tell you we've been using #M3 as the hashtag. :)
We have also started working on this year's PLAYLIST Retreat which is super exciting. In case you missed it, this is the short video we made of the retreat we hosted last August.
That's pretty much what's been happening in the world of DJ Jazzy Jeff.
One last thing ... I know you are all wondering and the answer is YES!  Yes, Jeff & Will will be on a stage again in 2016. We have been working tirelessly to try and get a JJFP show on the books so stay tuned!

Ale reacted to KevTastic in Gettin' Jiggy at 31
Hi guys, i just wrote a blog about my JJFP fan story and what this forthcoming tour means to me.  If you have 5 minutes please take a look.
    https://www.tumblr.com/blog/kevtastic84

Gettin’ Jiggy at 31 years youngEarly 1998, Hip Hop was ruling the world and a 13 year old working class family lad was beginning to spend his hard earned paperboy wages on CD’s and Cassettes (I rocked a walkman).  The Fresh Prince of Bel Air was constantly on my square TV, and a track popped up on a chart compilation tape i had bought.  This track was Will Smith’s Gettin’ Jiggy Wit it.
What was it about this track that got me hooked? The rhyme’s were fun, the flow was slick, the sample and cuts worked perfectly, the chorus is annoyingly catchy. It was the perfect pop rap track.  Will’s music and movie career were both huge, he was everywhere.
The internet was starting to get some real steam and i began to look into Will’s career more and more.  It was then that i realized older hits Boom shake the room and summertime i remembered as a kid were by him and and a man called Jazzy Jeff.  As a family we’d be tuned into the UK Top 40 every sunday afternoon.
Around this time Jazzy Jeff ad Fresh Prince’s greatest hits was released. Jive records clearly cashing in on Will’s resurgence in music, and who can blame them.  I had that disc on repeat even more than Big Willie Style.  The tracks were the gateway i needed as a young teen to explore and study Hip Hop music and culture, educating myself from the old school up.  But whatever i explored, it was these five JJ+FP studio albums that found their way back into the CD player time and time again.  Jeff’s samples and cutting, Prince’s stories that you couldn’t help but memorize, their obvious ability to add their live chemistry onto record.  It was infectious stuff.  I would be force feedling school friends mixtapes of the duo’s stuff, if they wanted it or not.
Will being such a huge movie star, and often prioritzing that above music made me doubt ever getting to see him perform live. Not through lack of trying.  I attended the movie premieres of Hitch and Hancock in London in hope of rumours of him performing live claimed to be true.  As i began to follow in my sisters footsteps (A modest heavy metal star in her day) and begin a love affair with Rock and alternative music. I questioned Hip Hop stars passion for performing live.  Whilst in my late teens and throughout my 20s i have seen dozens of my favourite bands tour regularly. I didn’t understand why rappers didn’t push themselves to the same limits. A lot of people i know who love Hip Hop music have never seen their fave artists perform live and seem content in that just being normal.  As a varied music lover I almost find it odd that when a new abum drops, that a artist doesn’t follow it up with a tour for at least promotional purposes.
In 2002 i joined a Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince fan site ran by an Australian named Tim, who has become a good friend of mine over the years.   I have met many like minded fans and we have built a great community over the high and low points of the duo’s post millenium career.
Around 2004 i noticed Jeff was touring a lot.  But it wasn’t until early 2006 that i decided to attend a show in Leeds where an old friend was at University.  Tim from the JJFP site asked me to get in touch with Jeff’s tour manager at the time via myspace. (remember when that ruled your life?) He said i could possibly meet Jeff at the show.   I didn’t expect too much, however when we get to the show Jeff’s crew give me and my friend the VIP treatment.  Getting to witness Jeff’s killer Hip Hop set sidestage washing it all down with free beer was at the time one of the best nights of my life.
Since that inaugral night in 2006 i have been lucky enough to attend over a dozen shows.  Initially with the slept on talent of Mad Skillz, and more recently the young, hungry and humble Dayne Jordan filling the Master of Ceremonies duties. Each time getting to hang out with Jeff.  Here is a superstar DJ who has allowed fans the chance to befriend him.  He never had to do that, and I can’t stress how honoured some of us over at jazzyjefffreshprince.com are to have been put in this situation.
Jeff has opened my eyes and ears to so many different styles of music i would have otherwise ignored.  He can give you a straight Hip Hop set like no other, but just as easily throw in some house, soul and funk that will leave your feet sore.
As longtime supporters of Will’s career we as fans often get frustrated with his commitment to music, but understand the workload he has had to juggle. Will admits that he has never done a proper full on tour with Jeff. Occasionally we as fans would find out afterwards that the duo have performed together at a movie wrap up party, or whatever. It’s been a gruelling task to stay optimistic that we would ever see them perform live together. Jeff has always told us it could happen, and Will wants to. But with Will not taking music seriously for the past 10 years even the most hopeful of fans had given up.
A 31 year old Man wakes up one morning, still a regular visitor to said JJFP fan site. He sees Will has returned with a verse on a Columbian dance track. The site is buzzing. Nobody expected this.
Soon after Will is interviewed by music journeyman Zane Lowe. Will drops a bomb shell about being focused on music and……..Touring with Jazzy Jeff next summer.  This 31 year old is shot back to a teenager instantly. The idea of me being able to be there in a crowd rapping along to one of my all time favourite artists and seeing Jeff back him up on the wheels is still something that hasn’t quite hit me fully. Something i had written off ever happening a decade ago, will happen and i will be there amongst friends and fellow fans. I don’t think Will is aware just how much demand there has been for this over the years.
I happen to be seeing Jeff live again this very evening. Words of excitement are due to be shared.  He has been a driving force in Will’s ear that this is something that can be very special for a lot of people. Me being one of them.

Ale reacted to Da Brakes in So I Saw Jeff Last Night...
So last night I rode solo and went to see Jeff perform at a local club near to me and as usual his set was amazing.  I haven't been able to see the last couple of shows so was excited to get back to seeing Jeff do his thing!  It amazes me that in all the countless shows I've seen Jeff spin no two sets are ever the same and he manages to keep the crowd partying from start to finish.
There was no Chris there this time so I don't know whether the Vinyl Destination series is still going or if he has another project on the go at the moment.  Steve and Ferno (along with Dayne) where there and as usual they really make you feel like part of the family.  I really have to stop and count my blessings that as a lifelong fan of JJFP, I, and a few others from the board are in the position to attend as many Jeff shows as we do and also get to hang out with the man himself afterwards.
Jeff played an eclectic mix of music which touched every person in the club...  some of the highlights for me where Summertime, Jeff's Reggae set, Jeff's West Coast Hip Hip Set and he even slipped in the Fiesta remix.  This is the first time seeing Dayne being Jeff's MC since Skillz has taken up DJ'ing full time and I must say he was extremely good.  He had the crowd hyped and knew Jeff's set inside out.  His freestyles were on point as well and extremely well delivered.  He is also a humble dude as well.  Having had a brief conversation with him, I can see him doing big things in the music biz.  I was so pleased to get the physical copy of the album as well.
So after Jeff's set, I get access to the VIP section and get to have a chat with Mr Magnificent.  I immediately tell him how ridiculously excited I am about the tour scheduled for next year and how we are all waiting with bated breath for more details to be announced.  I also say that I am looking forward to when Will and Jeff get their project underway and we finally get that illustrious JJFP album we have all been waiting for.  Jeff said that the tour is going to be something special and told me some of the ideas they have spoken about for it. (it sounds great!!!) He said that Will is really excited to do it so I think we can safely say that it will happen in some form or fashion.
Whilst I was there, Jeff also told me about the new DJ Jazzy Jeff app that had literally just been released on the app store (he received the notification whilst we were talking).  He encouraged me to download it so of course I did and he said that I would be the first person in the world to have it which I was pretty chuffed about!
All in all it was an amazing night and the best part about it is I get to do it all again with Kev again on Saturday!  There was so many more questions I wanted to ask that I'll hopefully remember for the weekend.
All in all a great night with the baddest DJ on the planet and his amazing team around him.
Shout out out to Neil from the forum as well who spotted me from across the room who I had a brief conversation with!  Great meeting you dude and hope to see you at another Jeff show soon.

Ale reacted to JumpinJack AJ in PLAYLIST: THE VERY BEST OF DJ JAZZY JEFF + THE FRESH PRINCE
I got it in the mail the other day and I finally have time to write about it.  Playlist: The Very Best of DJ Jazzy Jeff + The Fresh Prince is a collection for the fans.  Many of you are underwhelmed because this collection is so similar to 2006's The Very Best of DJ Jazzy Jeff + The Fresh Prince, but I suggest you get over it and be happy that a widely released compilation is coming out in 2015, prior to their return.
First off, the songs are REMASTERED for 2015, and as you know, there is no better sound quality than what you can get on a modern CD.  Musically, it's more more rare offerings are the 1986 original version of "Girls Ain't Nothing But Trouble" which was previously available on the 1986's original single release, 1986's Mr. Magic's Rap Attack Volume 2 (on CD), and 2006's The Very Best of JJ+FP. and the Hula Radio Remix of "The Things That U Do," and "Jazzy's Groove (Grover's Groove), which were previously only available on various cassette, vinyl and CD singles and the 2006 compilation.  For US fans, this is the first time the T.L.A.C Remix of "Lovely Daze" is being released (as it was previously only in singles released overseas.  It takes the original 1992 and tweaks it a bit for it's 1998 release on Jive's 1998 JJ+FP Greatest Hits. The highlight, of course, is the "Brand New Funk (Live At Nassau Coliseum)," which is the version they used for the video. This is the FIRST TIME it's being released on CD!!  Previously it was only available on the 1988 vinyl single.  While I converted it from vinyl to CD years ago, hearing it remastered on CD, blasting loud in my car for the first time, I may have peed myself a little bit.  At such a great/low price, y'all should stop complaining about the greatest hits package featuring the greatest hits that we've already heard and get this CD for that reason alone.  I do miss the presence of "The Magnificent Jazzy Jeff" and "I Wanna Rock."  Since "U Saw My Blinker" was only ever performed live and not a true video/single, I can live with it missing.
There's a nice briefing of their career in the notes, as well as the credits and chart positions. While I had looked at the chart position of their singles before, I never realized that And In This Corner...'s singles performed better than Rock The House's, even though many consider And In This Corner... to be their weakest performing album.  I also noticed for the first time that "A Touch of Jazz" positioned higher than "Girls Ain't Nothing But Trouble," which was interesting.
Lastly, another thing that makes this release great is the photography included. Some of it we've seen. Some of it we've seen on a rare occasion, and some we've never seen. Check the pix below...

As Playlist always does, they include the album or source that the song is from. They are always accurate when they do this. You'll notice the yellow sticker that comes on the plastic.  Check out that Rock The House pic on the back!  I've never seen it before!

Check the pick on the back of the insert.  The only time I've seen this Code Red pic before is when Jive flipped it and made it really blurry for the 1998 Greatest Hits insert and on the JJ+FP Greatest Hits Megamix CD and vinyl  promo pressing.

Ale reacted to KevTastic in DJ Jazzy Jeff on Will's current mindset
Hey all. So i just got back home from seeing Jeff and Dayne at the Jazz Cafe last night. The crowd was electric as was Jeff's set. I; gonna put up a couple of videos later of how Dayne is being incorporated in. For the most part he lets Jeff do his ting which is great but Jeff also give Dayne time to get up and show the world what he's about.
Anyway i got to chat with both of them for a solid half hour after the show. Jeff was telling me about how Will has been showing Jeff a lot of stuff he's recorded / written and Jeff is impressed with it. Jeff is more confident now than ever before that now is the right time for Will's return. Jeff's adamant on finding making the right music for this. He's been telling Will he doesn't need a hit single. They spoke about how they're not in it for fame and money but for the love. Will seems focused at the moment. Let's hope shooting Suicide Squad doesn't take him away from the game plan too much.
Also, expect Dayne and Jeff's full length album to drop in July. You won't be dissapointed. Speaking to Dayne you can see why him and Jeff has the chemistry that maybe others Jeff has worked with haven't quite worked out. The two of them together are making magic. Dayne was telling me how in awe he was of Jeff and Will doing the show in Toronto the other week and how the on stage chemistry is for them. Dayne is a humble guy who is just happy to be learning all of this and taking in the experiences.
