  1. Ludacris is credited with Party Starter at allmusic.com. Ludacris' real name is Christopher Bridges, and someone named "Bridges" is credited for the track. The plot thickens.
  2. Yeah, Will said Ludacris produced Party Starter, it sounds like something Luda would do, and Will said Luda urged him to bring a lot of energy in his flow to this track. Something's fishy with these varying credits.
  3. Well, the beats are hot regardless of who produced them. We can see that there are a number of beats Jeff scratched for. It seems that people are saying if we were to get the same exact beats, but Jeff was credited, the knowledge that Jeff was involved would then make the quality of the music produced better, where in actuality, nothing would really have changed. I too am a tad disappointed that Jeff wasn't as involved as we first believed, but for me, that takes nothing away from how wonderful the CD is because there are a number of instant classics. Don't despair, Will and Jeff will be touring and there will be a DVD coming out, and perhaps an album in the future. If you really want to check out some production by Jeff, def go cop the latest Jill Scott to hold you over until the touring starts.
  4. It's been done... the rest are being banged out, tight.
  5. Lol, I've been thinking, she's lucky Will was the one to address her and not Jada with her band, Wicked Wisdom. Jada can be downright grimey when it's needed.
  6. This reminds me of when Independence Day came out. All the critics were slamming it, giving it two thumbs down and the like, but there was a buzz among movie goers prior to it's release and then we all know what happened when it came out. One of the highest grossing movies of all time. Don't let the criticisms get to you guys.
  7. He's promoting the album all next week. TRL, 106 and Park, The Today Show. Switch is doing well. Things will be fine.
  8. Wait until the album comes out and everything is in the open. I think Jeff was a lot more involved on this album than the credits would lead us to believe. We'll see what Will has to say.
  9. Summertime already put him on that legendary status. "Tell Me Why" and "Lost and Found" will enforce it.
  10. People are going to hate. Simple as that. The guy doesn't mention "Lost and Found" or "I Wish I Made That" or "Loretta," 3 of the top 5 songs, IMO on the album. There's no way, no way at all, that you can review this album and not mention "Lost and Found" where the man comments on the state of rap music (maybe not the best track, probably second or third, but the most important track on the album). And you sort of get the feeling that he gave each track a cursory listen. "Right-wing fundamentalism"... somone wasn't really listening to the song. It seems more that he dug up a biography of Will and wrote around it, and mentioned 3 tracks on the album for good measure. Lastly, I think this quote says it all... "Smith is an American rap institution, a proud veteran who has done it his way. But his songs lack that necessary glint of wild fun or menace." Wild fun or menace indeed.
  11. Hehe, "you're gonna have to take it to him youself........! Loretta........ Wrote a letter to a stranger...." lol. Lerkot set it up perfectly, I couldn't resist.
  12. Agreed. Will does say on westwood, "Jazzy on the wheels" when Pump Ya Brakes was played. And I mean, we know Jeff's skill and style, and that is his all him at the end of Pump Ya Brakes, so it's most likely a mistake or a misprint. Again, it doesn't take 5 or 6 people to write a rhyme, especially after Will's written it already. The people mentioned are most likely production, "samples" and people who were just hanging around the studio passing out water at the time.
  13. That's really nice. It's good to see that after all these years, this is something that he's kept close, and that he's heeded her words.
  14. That was a very insightful and vivid description. I am extremely impressed, and everytime I hear the song from now on, I'm going to imagine the scenes unfolding the way you've described. I especially like the idea of the pioneers of hip hop being present. It makes the whole thing so epic, showing their sadness for the way things have turned out in the world as well as in the hip hop culture, contrasting it with the way things used to be. The ending you've described is similar to what I envisioned it to be, showing that the new generation, Jaden's generation, could be the answer to the ails of our society and those of the world. I would add one thing though. I would have Jaden crying while he's praying, and have Trey walk up next to him in tears as well, put his hand on Jaden't shoulder, and kneel to pray with him. We're going to have people crying. This could very well be the best and most moving music video ever to be made.
  15. Well maybe "samples" is the wrong word. What I should really say is that there are a lot of people singing and talking in the foreground, and background. And believe it or not, there is someone who has to get credited for all that. The person who has the idea, the person or people who actually sing and talk perhaps. The primary example of this would be "Wave 'em Off," 6 people were credited. And also, it's quite possible that more than one person worked on a few of the beats. Pump ya brakes has 6 names credited as well. Lol, I don't think we can even begin to guess what these people did. I don't think Snoop and Will had 3 or 4 dudes writting their rhymes for them.
  16. Haha, doubt it. As it stands now-a-days, if you're in the studio when the joint gets recorded, if you ask nice enough, you'll probably get credited. But on the real, there are a lot of samples on this record, and if someone were to say, hey, put this in there, or someone's voice is in the background, they'll get credited, which is no problem. But there's no indication that Will had someone writing his lyrics. At the very most, it's probably a word change here and there.
  17. A. What's there to resond to? 'Someone dissed me for no reason, it bothered me, but I kept it moving regardless.' He's going to respond to that? I think it would be best for Em's career if he just eased back before he really starts something. There are too many things that can be said about him as it stands now. B. "His place?" That elicited a small laugh, nothing too big, more of a snicker. How long has Em been around? How long has Will been around? How many classics does Em have? How many classics does Will have? Moving on to "C." Too easy. C. Next we're going to have people coming here saying that Wendy Williams isn't worried at all about her employment status. I just had to address that, lol.
  18. What really bothers me are all these ghostwritting accusations flying around just because the joint is tight.
  19. Lol, cheer up, the CD is hot, and there will undoubtedly be future collaborations, perhaps an entire CD.
  20. Anyone know who produced the bonus tracks?
  21. 1. I Wish I Made That 2. Lost & Found 3. Tell Me Why 4. Party Starter/Loretta (it's a tie, don't make me choose!!! haha)
  22. I'll try to record the performaces, the files will be a bit large, but they'll be very very good quality.
