1. So true. It always seems that way. because of that, more people today know him as Will Smith the big movie star, not a rapper. Everyone I know thinks he sucks as a rapper. With that break inbetween Willenium and Born to Reign, he kinda destroyed his image as a rapper first, a movie star second. Columbia also majorly helped with that. I was in the movies two nights ago and I saw a huge promo banner in the lobby hanging on a wall of it for "I, Robot" with him on it. I was disappointed in a way. I wish I could walk into a CD store and see a JJFP banner for a new album being hung on the wall, but that'll never look like it'll happen anytime soon. I dunno, maybe cuz I'm just not optimistic.
 2.

Yeah man! "Freakin' It" and "Wild Wild West" are nothing compared to "I'm Looking for the One (to be with me) and "Can't Wait to be with you"
Im looking for the one and can't wait to be with you might be jjfp best songs ever..
Oh yeah definatly. I was being sarcastic (kinda hard to tell online) towards to that Deadlus dude. Code Red is their best work.

Posted on Saturday, April 03 @ 12:14:31 PST by MusicMan ------------------------------------------------- Anonymous writes "Chuck D (the old school rapper) has been quoted saying that "Kanye West is overrated and has been called ground-breaking just for speeding up old records." I agree with him. Nowadays in Hip-Hop we are so soon to bombard people with accolades for even having sub-standard talent. Yet real MC's are just forgotten. Be honest, you rushed out to buy "The College Dropout" or "Get Rich or Die Trying" but you don't know about real Hip-Hop. You're not familiar with the music of Avant or Common but you know all the words to "In da club." Is that what Hip-Hop is today? A podium for guys who can barely hold a flow to talk about how hard they had it, what they have now, cars, bling and chicks etc. Is anything original? Hip-Hop is just a popular cult-following which used to stand for something. Take a chain of egotistical, chauvistic, Tupac/Biggie wannabe lyrics and a beat from the 90's and there you have it. A #1 on the Billboard charts. Even the crème-de-la-crème of Hip-Hop are leaving us to go into movies, fashion or retirement; LL Cool J, Ice Cube, Jay-Z etc Who's gonna save the game? Are we just subject to a decade of poor music? How many more 50 Cent's will blow up for doing nothing? We need to save Hip-Hop because as fans, buyers and listeners we're becoming too easily impressed. Hip-Hop's only as overrated as we make it. So let's not." -------------------------------------- http://www.rapdirt.com/article7720.html Rap's Deterioration From Expression To Ego Posted on Friday, April 02 @ 17:45:02 PST by MusicMan -------------------------------------- Jenna writes "I know that by now most of us are sick of the topic of battles, but after the 'How Far Is This Gonna Go' article I just wanted to say something about "rap wars" in general. People all have their opinions on Ja Rule and 50 Cent obviously, as well as on all the other battling rappers of the past and present. But I just don't understand the support given to these ridiculous things and the public reaction to it, like everyone is just sitting there waiting for the next problem to start up, so that they will have something to talk about. Obviously when you are a fan of any type of music, and any musician in general you get attached, and want to defend them or at least don't want to see anything happen to them. But I for one think that these battles are completely destroying the rap industry. Rap came about around the 70s, and it started out as good beats until the MCs began to talk over the music they made; giving shout-outs, endorsing themselves etc. Now most of these people don't even care about the music itself, they just use whatever works best behind their ryhmes...so it's become about the words...that would be fine, except for the fact that now even the words have become meaningless. Rap used to be able to pride itself on being the truest form of expression; compared to the mundane and repetative songs of pop or rock which have no message, no real passion, just songs about break-ups, love, love again etc. Rap used to talk to people; even as recently as N.W.A who really brought the streets into suburbia and showed people what actually happened in their own country, or KRS-One who wanted to be a positive influence, or Tupac who (before all the beef) made memorable impressions with songs like "Brenda's Got a Baby"....now it has become completely predictable. Someone says; "I'm the best in the world, I get the most hoes, I make the best ryhmes etc." then someone else challenges this and those two spend the next few years arguing like little kids...I am actually getting sick of hearing about who is better, why someone hates someone else, it's not about expression anymore, just ego. And if the destruction of this artform weren't bad enough, battles also occsionally get people killed (not by the rappers themselves) and it is their own fault because they know perfectly well that they have tons of fans who idolize them and hang on their every word, and that if they just feed them hatred, it can easily manifest itself into a deadly situation...At least that is my opinion on the whole thing, I just wish someone new (or maybe a return from someone older) would come into the game and give us something real again." ----------------------------------------- I can't describe how much I agree with them. All points are covered. We need the old-skoolers to come back. Save the industry.
 4. Ohhhh man...what a final we got here. Some people say this is one of the worst Stanley Cup Finals but it's definatly far from it! It's the Tampa Bay Lightning who have only been in the league since 1992 and the Calgary Flames who have one Stanley Cup in which they won in 1989. Both teams have had a rough few years. Rebuilding and rebuilding hoping to get back in the playoffs. These two teams are quick and are two of the most exciting teams in the NHL to watch. This is the first Stanley Cup Finals ever since I started watching hockey that I don't mind who wins. It's two teams who I would have never expected to make the Finals. You have three droughts here that are on the line. 1. No Eastern Conference team in the last 10 years has won the Stanley Cup besides the New Jersey Devils in (1995, 2000 and 2003). The last team besides the Devils to win the Cup in the Eastern Conference is the 1994 New York Rangers. 2. No Canadian team in the last 11 years have won the Stanley Cup. There are only 6 Canadian teams in the NHL and the last team to win it was the 1993 Montreal Canadiens. 3. Dave Andreychuk, the captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning has played in the NHL for 22 years and has yet to win a Stanley Cup. This could be his last season. Well as exciting as Game 6 was, this one should be another awesome, end of your seat type game. This is the 3rd time in the last 4 years that the Stanley Cup Finals has gone the distance - which is Game 7. Who will win? I don't know, too close to call. Tampa has the momentum since they won the double-overtime game 6 and they have Game 7 at home but remember the 2003 Anaheim Mighty Ducks who won Game 6 at home against the Devils (5-2) but lost Game 7 even with that momentum. Should be a good one!!! woo! :peace:

AJ, I thought u said u didn't like Kanye on another post...?
Definatly....just as long as Kanye don't repeat the same lines like 3 times...gets annoying.
 11. Good job everyone! It's always tight when everyone battles. Always fun & enjoyable. :peace:

Diddy and caused all the noise that's exactly how its be, just me and the p-r-i to the n-c-e we're dangerous, two rhyming partners who are a major threat need proof, ask ted and joe, cause they know we can beat anyone without breakin a sweat it doesn't take long, only about a second and we break you in half stand tall over you, smile, chuckle and have a good laugh we standing on the three-point line shootin for a triple snapped your neck and now we're hoping for a cripple you can call yourselves Kobe and Shaq but we clog up your arteries like a mcdonalds big mac good for you that you beat the tiger and it's charm but now for you its a situation code red and your in harm bee-bee or w3 i don't care what the hell your name is your a one-win wonder and ya bubble just broke cause you just a fizz the race is on to reach the top of the stairs we got no tears or wears, you can't beat us so just bow down and say your prayers go ahead and spit a few rhymes here and there but your like a car that's gonna crash i got you both tied up and its time to take you out to the trash
 14. I love the stuff he wore in the early seasons as well. He wore the Homebase jacket a few times. That bright, baggy stuff is awesome.
 15. haha neither do I... "is he that guy Will left behind? " haha im joking...that saying is too, too typical.
 16. if u really want Acid Pro 4.0 lemme kno cuz i just downloaded the trial version then got a crack for it and it fully works. :dancingcool: :thumb: It just wish there was a program that could take an audio file like an mp3 and divide it into Layers like one would be the background beats, one would be the vocals and you could edit them seperatly. that would be kickass.
 17. hey djsilvertiger....i really like your mix....great job! Acid Pro 4.0 is a really great program...but u need an acapella and an instrumental to really do something nice.
 18. nice bro!!!! how u make that...what prog
 19. Awesome!!!! Summertime never gets old. He should definatly do way more shows.
 20. you forgot the FP cameo in "Voices that care" (i think) that came out in 1991 I think.
 21.
If you ask me he should do many moe songs similar to this
Oh yeah definatly. As for this song, I think Will is just doing a typical introduction. If you look at the last 3 Will "solo" albums, "Y'all Know", "I'm Comin", "Born to Reign"...he always starts an album off with a strong opening. Even on Homebase "I'm All That" was like a battle track. Nobody said Will can't rap aggressive. I liked the song, just should've been longer.
 22. Will: Damn this girl is FINE. Sure hope the wife ain't lookin'
