Will Smith Gets Jiggy On 'Late Show With David Letterman'
JumpinJack AJ replied to Ale's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
When he's ready for music, he always goes hard...lol. I love the mini performance. I'll have to look up this interview. Of all the late night hosts, I think FP is always the most comfortable with Dave Letterman. -
Immature released a free EP titled "Remember" on Valentine's Day. That's right, FREE! You can download it from their Soundcloud. Here's a write-up on it from BET... Immature Drops Valentines Day EP, Remember R&B group unveils new songs along with remakes of their hits "Please Don't Go" and "Never Lie." By Moriba CummingsPosted: 02/14/2015 03:00 PM ESTFiled Under Valentine's Day, Music News, New Music, Immature Just in time for Valentine's Day, legendary R&B group Immature released Remember, a compilation EP of reworked and brand new tracks. With 2015 versions of their hits "Never Lie" and "Please Don't Go," and freshly written songs like "Oh My," "Best Sex," and "Let Me Find Out" appearing on the project, listeners are sure to be satisfied. "We feel so excited to give our fans some of our old hits with a new sound," the group collectively said in a statement. "It's like reminiscing or going down memory lane, and the new sound will gain new fans. And hopefully all our fans — old and new — will love the music." Remember is only an appetizer. The group is currently putting the finishing touches on their seventh studio album, Forever, and later this year, Immature, which consists of all three original members, Marques Houston, Jerome Jones and Kelton Kessee, are also set to hit the road on a national headlining tour. Aside from the music, the group is in talks to produce a biopic chronicling its career. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sadly it's not as good as their past work. The production lacks soul and is aimed for today's so-called urban radio. "Best Sex" is easily the best song in my opinion. Download it here...

It looks modern and clean. I usually prefer a little more color or imagery, but I like it.

DALEY - Those Who Wait Alone Together (2013) I haven't listened to Daley, so I popped the EP in this morning. This song/lyrics grabbed me in a way it's never grabbed me before. I can't stop listening to it. R&B fans, peep this.

Will Smith Has Banned His Kids From Hanging Out With Kendall & Kylie Will is staying clear of the mess, and so are his kids There’s a saying: “It takes a village to raise a child.” The Jenner family has officially been evicted from the Smith’s village. The Jenners–and, by association, the Kardashians–have had a pretty hectic week, thanks in large part to the internet (no surprise there), and Tyga, who has come under extra scrutiny this week for his relations (or alleged lack thereof) with 17-year old Kylie Jenner. Since summer 2014, reports have been surfacing that Kylie and Tyga have been traveling all around the country together engaging in sexual relations, and just recently, Drake used their perceived inappropriate relationship as fuel for a shot he fired at the “AYO” rapper on a recent song, “6 PM In New York,” in which Drizzy raps “You need to act your age, and not your girl’s age.” Yesterday, the internet was ablaze with conversations about the Twitter jabs Khloe Kardashian and Amber Rose traded, with the pot calling the kettle black each tabloid star accusing the other of having a dishonest come-up. It’s nothing new in the Jenner-Kardashian world however, and clearly, Will Smith has taken note of that. In light of it, according to OK! magazine, the Focus actor has banned his children from hanging out with Kendall and Kylie Jenner. Will and Jada were never fans of the Kardashian clan. But after learning about Kendall and Kylie’s recent antics, they don’t want Willow and Jaden associating with the girls anymore. There’s more. Despite reported resistance from Jaden, Will and Jada refuse to let their kids become “pawns” in the Jenner and/or Kardashian “low-level frame game.” Ouch. So far, there’s been no tweet or Instagram post comment from kids of either family, but surely, this isn’t the last we’ll hear of this. http://thesource.com/2015/02/17/will-smith-has-banned-his-kids-from-hanging-out-with-kendall-kylie/

It fits. The beat is really busy and might sound a little better if it wasn't as loud. FP's vocals kinda get lost in that business, so taking the beat down a little might make the two beats less distracting compared to the vocals. I absolutely hate blends where the beat doesn't fit the lyrics, so you've already achieved the most important part with this first mix.

Is Will Smith getting jiggy again?
JumpinJack AJ replied to Hero1's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Even if you look past the chemistry within JJ+FP, Jeff's goal is to make good music. Those other guys are just worried about charting hits. The artistry takes the backseat for them....if it's in the car at all.- 40 replies

Will Smith: I’m Ready to Make More Music Focus star says he still has the "bug" for hip hop. By Latifah Muhammad Posted: 02/13/2015 10:39 AM EST Filed Under Music News, Kanye West, Will Smith, DJ Jazzy Jeff Will Smith is ready to return to music. Not that he ever stopped recording, but the 46-year-old actor recently revealed that he’s weighing the idea of dropping something new. Smith hasn’t exactly made a secret about recording. He was snapped in a Brazil studio with Kanye West in 2013, and was rumored to be working on a new album several years back. “Oh, so you know. You’ve been paying attention?” he said in an interview, before mentioning his beat-boxing session on The Tonight Show last week. “I did a fun thing with Jimmy Fallon the other night messing with music, so you know, I got the bug. I might see if I got one more in me." The Philly native’s last album was 2005’s Lost and Found, which went gold. His most successful project was back in the days of “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit’ It.” Big Willie Style, released in 1997, sold nine million copies worldwide. Music is for now a side-priority to Smith's acting career. His latest film, Focus, hits theaters Feb. 27. Is Will Smith getting jiggy again?
JumpinJack AJ replied to Hero1's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Agreed. I don't want to hear "Will Smith produced by Calvin Harris and Kanye West." I want to hear DJ Jazzy Jeff + Fresh Prince. Jazzy will give him a sound to craft stories and relevant messages on. Their chemistry is undeniable and one of a kind. If they wanna let Kanye and Calvin remix some stuff for the radio, fine, but they can't provide a proper sound for him for an album. They'll take their style and try to steer FP's subject matter. Neither of them get true Hip-Hop. We've heard the Dayne Jordan album...just imagine if Jeff was handling all of the next album. FP doesn't need to be trying to make top 40 music. That whole idea just makes me uncomfortable.- 40 replies

"THE MOST PAINFUL FAILURE OF HIS CAREER"

"I HAVE A POOR PERSON'S MENTALITY"
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I'm not rich, but I know where he's coming from. Even if I come up on a little extra money, I almost never spend it on anything big. I try to live like I have no money. I'm right there with you Julie. I hate the way people tear them apart. I think it just comes from the fact that they are some fly teenagers with the world at their finger tips, and the average person is NOT that. It's total jealousy. With live in an envious and hateful world. -

When you grow up with a certain mind state, and then create a lifestyle of hustle and see great results, you fall into a pattern. When you've done it so long that it's the normal, it's hard to imagine life being some other way. It's also difficult to understand why others don't think the same way you do and make life adjustments to life in a similar way. It's takes down time and eye-openers to regain a proper perspective. I find myself experiencing similar revelations from time to time.

Questlove Addresses Hip-Hop’s Illuminati Speculations Questlove is a man that walks in many circles. Aside from being amongst the elite when it comes to musicianship or anything media related, he’s also a well versed culinary enthusiast. And on rare occasions, he even takes on the role of conspiracy theory debunker. At a recent foodie-exclusive event at NYC’s prestigious Core Club, El Capitan responded to an inquiry pertaining to exactly where he stood in terms of hip-hop’s freemasons AKA the Illuminati. Not surprisingly, Questo made quick work out of tying the rumors of hip-hop’s veiled hand to that of American music mythology, but admits that even he gets a little jumpy when he sees his good friends Jay & Bae acting too comfortable around him. I suppose we’ll never definitively know, but take it from Questo, it’s a bit more bark than bite. What do you think? “I think there’s always been this theory of selling your soul to the devil for success since the days of the Delta Mississippi Blues, that folklore has always been sort of prevalent in all of music. I guess it’s unprecedented how most people think Jay Z is the Illuminati leader.” And often times, even though I don’t believe it, I’ve been in a few situations in which I feel uncomfortable with how comfortable they are being in front of me. Like, we’re friends and so sometimes I feel like ‘oh I shouldn’t have seen that’ and now they’re going to kill me.” What do you think? http://www.okayplayer.com/news/questlove-on-hip-hop-illuminati.html

Will Smith “Exploring” New Music With Kanye West and Son Jaden posted by Graham on February 12, 2015 in News 1 of 3 After receiving a little pep talk from his son, Will Smith may be returning to music after a ten-year absence. Smith the Elder told reporters as much at a London screening of his new film Focus. I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet but I’m exploring. I’m in a creative ceiling. My son tells me I have to write out the things I don’t like. I can’t write and stop, I have to keep going and going and write them out. I’ve never worked like that before but I think I might give that a shot. Jaden Smith is no stranger to these pigeon pages. His latest EP continues a string of strong releases that always explore something new. Will Smith’s last album was 2005’s Lost and Found, but he’s in an adventurous mood these days, having returned to acting with Focus after a two-year absence. It sounds like he’s been writing already, telling reporters “I went into the studio with Kanye. I’m thinking about it.” Watch the video from the red carpet below: http://pigeonsandplanes.com/2015/02/will-smith-exploring-new-music-with-kanye-west-and-son-jaden/- 40 replies

Abdul, I wasn't saying he did a song with 2Pac. I was trying to say that when I hear 2Pac's and MJ's unreleased music, it's good (or you can at least see where they were going to go with it). I was saying that I imagine FP's unreleased work is probably really good as well. Big Ted, acting DOES get in the way. As an artistic person, you are satisfied when you are working and when your work is getting out there. The satisfaction of his film work allows his focus on music to be scattered and not amount to anything. I have all of LL's and Ice Cube's albums, but I'd be lying if I said all of their recent music is on the level of their previous music. Other endeavors lead to somewhat lacking music here and there.- 40 replies

Will Smith: Jaden Smith Only Has One Pair of Shoes, I Have a "Poor Person's Mentality" Celebrity News Feb. 12, 2015 AT 7:15PM By Sierra Marquina Will Smith says Jaden only has one pair of shoes Credit: John Ricard/Getty Images Will Smith is a mega-movie star who gets paid seven to eight figures per movie, but in a lengthy interview with Esquire magazine, the Focus actor claimed he has a “poor person’s mentality” and so does his son Jaden. After the reporter brought up the phrase “slavery to dollars,” Smith responded “you never lose the mentality,” and that there’s no such thing as financial security. “It’s such a strange thing,” he added, before revealing that his younger son is extremely frugal — something he’s very proud of. “Jaden, my 16-year-old, he has one pair of shoes,” Smith admitted. “He has three pairs of pants and he has five shirts. He has refused to be a slave to money. I so respect that…It’s such an interesting thing to watch, because I came from a middle-class background…our lights and gas would be cut off from not paying the bill…And he's from the complete other end of the spectrum. And it's so interesting to me that from growing up in that space, he could see the need for things in a way that he's rejecting. He's like, ‘I’m not gonna let myself need things in that way,’” Smith continued, before adding: “But, I would like him to get another pair of shoes.” Jaden and Smith’s daughter, Willow, have also had their fair share of scrutiny given their, at times, outrageous quotes. But Smith said they “generally avoid” the hate. “They're really well-adjusted around this business and understanding the nature of having to take a battering,” he explained. “It's a brutal world out there for young people, for everybody. Willow had one moment. The Young Turks are Willow's idol. They have a TV show online. They're like a really powerful group of young writers, hosts, and political commentators. Willow loves the Young Turks, and that was the only moment I saw her cry. Other than that, she's really well-adjusted with it. And Jaden understands that that's a part of this business. If he wants to do it, there's a certain amount of battery that you have to be willing to live through.” One way Smith taught his children to be so understanding of hate? “We have a quote that I put up in the house from Pema Chödrön: ‘Only to the extent that we expose ourselves over and over to annihilation can that which is indestructible be found in us.’ We call it leaning into the sharp parts,” he shared. “Something hurts, lean in. You just lean into that point until it loses its power over you. There's a certain amount of suffering that you have to be willing to sustain if you want to have a good life. And the trick is to be able to sustain it with your heart open and still be loving. That is the real trick.” Read more: http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/will-smith-jaden-smith-only-has-one-pair-of-shoes-2015122#ixzz3RdutCRht

Is Will Smith getting jiggy again?
JumpinJack AJ replied to Hero1's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Back in the 90's when he came back with Big Willie Style he said he's always recording. I'm really curious how these unreleased songs have. Since he does them himself, it's unlikely we'll ever hear them leaked. Only songs that he's collaborated with or done under the umbrella of a record label even have the chance of leaking. I'm doubtful these songs are very lacking. When I'd hear unreleased 2Pac and Michael Jackson stuff, I'd always be thinking "this is essentially album-worthy." To me music starts as an internal project, but it ultimately becomes something you want to share. I'd love to know his mind state for continuously making music without the intent of releasing it. I guess it's easier to do it just for fun when you have film as an outlet. Mark Wahlburg also has multiple albums he's recorded without the intention of releasing. In many ways acting/film is a killer of music.- 40 replies

Aunt: Bobbi Kristina is 'doing better' Ann Oldenburg, USA TODAY 7:13 a.m. EST February 12, 2015 Bobbi Kristina Brown remained in a medically-induced coma on the third anniversary of her mother, Whitney Houston's death. VPC "I was very numb when I saw her," says Leolah Brown, Bobbi Kristina Brown's aunt, in a sit-down interview with Atlanta's Fox 5 TV station. Leolah, speaking on Tuesday afternoon to Fox 5's Aungelique Proctor, recalled how hard it was to see her niece when she first went to the hospital. And it has been a difficult time for the family as they stay gathered around Bobbi Kristina in Emory University Hospital. Bobbi Kristina has been on a ventilator since Jan. 31, when she was found face down in a bathtub. "It's been very, very painful for everybody. Mainly Bobby, because that's his baby," she said of her brother, Bobby Brown. Leolah went on to say she's "hopeful' about Krissi's health. "There are so many signs showing us that she will be OK. Krissi is fine." She is still on life support, but is she Improving? "Yes, ma'am," answered Leolah. "She's opening her eyes. Krissi is doing well right now. She is." She wouldn't comment on reports that there are injuries to Bobbi Kristina's face. But Leolah also took a few minutes to talk about how she felt Nick Gordon, whom Krissi has said is her husband, has not been a good influence. Why? "I have my reasons," said Leolah. She added that she believes he will be charged in the criminal investigation surrounding what led to the 911 call for Krissi. "Oh yes, 110 percent. ... I HOPE that he will be charged ... Soon." Leolah also said she "didn't know Nick," despite the fact that she lived for a time with Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown when Krissi was little and there have been reports that he was like an adopted son. "I never saw Nick." She adds that they are "not married. No, ma'am." Nick Gordon has not addressed any reports. One thing Leolah wants people to know for sure: "Krissi would never do anything to herself. Everybody in the family knows that. There's no doubt in my mind. Krissi loved life too much!." As for tension at the hospital, Leolah said, "There's no tension between Browns and Houstons. Everybody's trying to stay strong and deal with this." She added, "Bobby wants Krissi to rest. ... She needs to heal." Leolah said there's no truth to the idea that today would be the day Krissi is taken off the ventilator because it's the day that her mom died three years ago. Bobby Brown's attorney blasts 'false' speculations that Bobbi Kristina Brown's family may take her off life support Wednesday, the third anniversary of Whitney Houston's death. Police now confirm there's a criminal investigation into what happened. VPC "No," she said, adding, "Bobby's calling the shots." She urged that the "negativity" stop surrounding the family and Bobbi Kristina. "She is doing better. So let's be hopeful. ... I'm asking people to pray." At the same time, another family member, cousin Shayne Brown, also sounds hopeful about Krissi. "She's progressing," Shayne tells ET's David Begnaud. "She's getting better. We just ask for people to continue to pray." http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/people/2015/02/11/bobbi-kristina-browns-aunt-leolah-shes-improving-doing-well/23221847/

This post is ultimately more about life than it is film, so that's why I'm dropping it here. I love what he has to say in this.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Will Smith Calls ‘After Earth’ the ‘Most Painful Failure’ of His Career Sony Pictures February 12, 2015 | 05:33PM PT Lisa Schulz Will Smith has opened up about “After Earth,” the 2013 sci-fi film in which his son Jaden Smith also starred, calling it the “most painful failure” of his career. The comment, in an interview with Esquire, came after the reporter referenced a “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” quote from Smith’s TV aunt, who advised his character on an episode, “Don’t let success go to your head and success go to your heart.” “That was a valuable lesson for me a few years ago with ‘After Earth,'” Smith said. “That was the most painful failure in my career.” The Sony/Columbia pic, directed by M. Night Shyamalan, made $27 million on opening weekend and grossed a global $243 million on a reported production budget of $130 million. In comparison, in 2008, “Hancock,” the Smith-starring fantasy drama from Sony/Columbia, raked in $624 million globally and made $62 million on opening weekend. His rom-com “Hitch” made $368 globally and $43 million on opening weekend. Smith said “Wild Wild West,” a pic that also opened with $27 million, was still a better experience. “Wild Wild West” made a $52 million profit on a reported $170 million production budget, whereas “After Earth” resulted in a $113 million profit. “‘Wild Wild West’ was less painful than ‘After Earth’ because my son was involved in ‘After Earth,’ and I led him into it. That was excruciating,” the 46-year-old said. Then he contemplated the importance of having films that topped box office charts. “I never would have looked at myself in that way. I was a guy who, when I was 15, my girlfriend cheated on me, and I decided that if I was number one, no woman would ever cheat on me. All I have to do is make sure that no one’s ever better than me, and I’ll have the love that my heart yearns for. And I never released that and moved into a mature way of looking at the world and my artistry and love until the failure of ‘After Earth,’ when I had to accept that it’s not a good source of creation.” Smith said when he received box office numbers the following Monday, he was “devastated for about 24 minutes,” and shortly after, he received a call that his father had cancer. “That put it in perspective — viciously.” After a 90-minute treadmill session immediately following the news, Smith had an epiphany. “That Monday started the new phase of my life, a new concept: Only love is going to fill that hole,” Smith said. “You can’t win enough, you can’t have enough money, you can’t succeed enough. There is not enough. The only thing that will ever satiate that existential thirst is love. And I just remember that day I made the shift from wanting to be a winner to wanting to have the most powerful, deep and beautiful relationships I could possibly have.” http://variety.com/2015/film/news/will-smith-after-earth-comment-most-painful-failure-of-his-career-1201432773/

Will Smith and Kanye West track
JumpinJack AJ replied to Big Ben's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Thanks for posting the interview. I only watched the music part of it, but I'll be going back to watch the whole thing soon. FP is tight lipped about new music, he's never this revealing if he's not almost certain that a new project will be out in the future. I won't back down on my opinion of Kanye though. This voice, flow, delivery, and auto-tuning is horrible. He used to me a mediocre rapper, but his lyrics have lost all heart and soul. His production went from being top notch to trendy and weak. I just don't find redeeming qualities in him as an artist. I guess I'm kinda discouraged that he was hanging out with Calvin Harris too. I never knew about their connection. FP is going to drop new music and I don't wanna hear him over electro pop beats. I kinda hope he just scraps those plans and gets with Jeff. -
Will Smith and Kanye West track
JumpinJack AJ replied to Big Ben's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
The timing feels right. He hasn't been this open and convincing about music since L+F, so this is great. When it comes to Kanye, I'm really nervous. Kanye West is a horrible rapper his production hasn't been very good in many years. Some of you will disagree with me, but think Kanye's music is absolute garbage. He doesn't make music that reflects Hip-Hop culture or anything FP stands for as an artist. If this were years ago and we were talking about the Kanye West who produced Through The Wire, All Falls Down, Twista's Slow Jams, Talib Kweli's Get By and I Try, Alicia Keys' remix of "If I Ain't Got You," I'd be all for it. Unfortunately he's no where near that same artist. -
I saw it when Ice Cube put it on his Facebook. I love it. It definitely spiked me interest in the film.
