  1. For those who don't wanna click the link on the article 10 Prince posted.... DMX "Redemption Of The Beast" Album Legitimate, Seven Arts Entertainment CEO Says by Jay Balfour posted Thursday January 08, 2015 at 06:20PM PST | 5 comments DMX says "that's all stolen music," but the label CEO releases a statement claiming they bought the masters in 2012. While both Swizz Beatz and DMX himself have disputed the authenticity of a recently announced album set to be released in his name, the CEO of Seven Arts Entertainment has released a statement claiming that the album is the second to be built from "52 masters acquired by Seven Arts from DMX and his producers in 2012." "DMX and his team fully cooperated on the production of this album," the statement continues. "Redemption of the Beast was the second album planned for release with DMX in September of 2012, following the release of Undisputed. These new masters represent the best of this legendary artist and offer production by some of the best in the industry. All fans are invited to listen to the music, which is the real thing, the ‘rough and ready’ of DMX. The music and artistry speaks for itself.” Earlier today, a publicist for the emcee released a statement in which DMX said, "that's all stolen music." “I spoke to DMX today and he was unaware of the upcoming announcement of the Redemption Of The Beast album," Domenick Nati of Nati Celebrity Services wrote. "When I read him the projected track list of songs to be released X said, ‘that’s all stolen music.’ DMX and myself are highly disappointed that trust was broken and that these songs may be released and sold without X’s knowledge or consent. DMX and Swizz Beatz are working on an album together and fans should look to their official social media accounts for accurate information.” Redemption of the Beast is now the second bungled release from DMX's label signing and his latest statements come almost exactly three years after he expressed initial apprehension regarding his deal with United Media & Music Group, a label connected to Seven Arts on previous deals. In the midst of dealing with a series of release date woes he blamed on the label in early 2012, DMX told Billboard that "it's only one album though" after speaking harshly about UMMG specifically. "The fact that [the label] chose to tell me that makes me reconsider whether or not I made the right decision to **** with them," he said of a release date announcement for his Undisputed album that year. "It's only one album, though. It'll be what it is. But I think [it will come out] second quarter, definitely." Expanding on his rift with the label, X said, "It's like, what the ****, man? Do what you say you're gonna do—do me like you would do any other artist. Like, damn, stick to the ****in' script, you know? Mean what you say. You don't gotta lie to me." Earlier this week, Swizz Beatz took to Instagram to speak out against the release. "I see a lot of people hitting me about this album!!!" he wrote. "I can tell you 100% this is not the album X and I are working on!!!! (I feel like Timbo with the Aaliyah movie rite now) SMH !!!!!!

  4. Truly a sad day to anyone who was a part of 90's Hip-Hop. I think it's time to dust off the D&D Project album...
  5. January 7, 2015 | Published By Bandini The End Of An Era For Hardcore Hip-Hop…DJ Premier’s Studio Closes Its Doors Today Nas’ Illmatic recorded there. The Notorious B.I.G.’s Ready To Die recorded there. Jay-Z’s Reasonable Doubt recorded there. And nearly every song by Gang Starr, in addition to every track produced by DJ Premier since 1992 was recorded there. Today, on January 7, 2015, Premo announced that D&D Studios a/k/a HeadQCourterz Studios will close its doors forever. To Hip-Hop Heads and lovers of music however, the industrial Midtown Manhattan mainstay will live on in the hearts and ears of many, on albums by Big Pun, Big L, Black Moon, Jeru The Damaja, Group Home, M.O.P., Bumpy Knuckles, Tony Touch, Jay, Nas, Biggie Smalls, Lord Finesse, Craig G, Dilated Peoples, Fat Joe, Das EFX, Showbiz & A.G., Cormega, Ludacris, Bun B, Edo G, Diamond D, O.C., Afu-Ra, Big Daddy Kane, Smif-n-Wessun, Just-Ice, Snoop Dogg, Doug E. Fresh, Slaughterhouse, KRS-One, Heltah Skeltah, Da Beatminerz, The Lady Of Rage, Heather B, O.G.C., Bahamadia, NYGz, Mad Lion, Teflon, Channel Live, Big Shug, Krumbsnatcha, and so forth. Sadly, the studio—which Premier has been physically removing for more than a week from the 37th Street building in the Garment District, is giving way to become luxury apartments. Premier, Premier now said to be headed to Queens’ Kaufman Astoria Studios, more hits are on the way, and HeadQCourterz moves with him. Salute to D&D, HeadQCourterz, Gang Starr, and the legends—living and beyond who made this Hip-Hop landmark so legendary… http://ambrosiaforheads.com/2015/01/the-end-of-an-era-for-hardcore-hip-hop-dd-headqcourterz-studios-closes-its-doors-today/
  6. DMX's camp shut it down too.... DMX Has Nothing To Do WIth ‘Redemption Of The Beast’ Album Jan 7th, '15 • by Emmanuel C.M. Well this is awkward. Yesterday (Jan. 6) the internet went on fire when news broke that DMX is making his return to hip-hop and dropping a new album on Jan. 13. On Amazon, Redemption Of The Beast was spotted, a 16-track LP with guest collaborations from Freeway, Rampage and Jannyce. X and fellow Ruff Ryder Swizz Beatz were pictured in the studio together back in September 2014, which left hip-hop fanatics clamoring for a new project. But hold your horses folks because Dark Man X has nothing to do with this project. A rep from the Yonkers MC’s camp has confirmed with XXL exclusively that they have no involvement with Redemption Of The Beast. They are not the only ones calling out the project. Swizz Beatz and DMX himself took to Instagram to put a stop to the lies (see below). Even though this is disappointing news, you have to be happy with the fact that Swizz did say that Ruff Ryders’ head honcho is working on a new project. Let’s hope it drops in 2015.
  7. I didn't say it, but I was actually really happy to see the song with Rampage on their too. He's always been one of my favorites.
  8. J. COLE - St. Tropez 2014 Forest Hills Drive (2014)
  9. I'm skeptical about Swizz Beats. Other than It's Dark and Hell Is Hot, I never been a big fan of his work. I don't follow his stuff closely, but I don't think I've heard a beat from him that I've liked since the early 2000's. Hopefully he provided him with a proper sound. Lyrically, DMX has stayed consistent, he's just now always picky about the beats he chooses.
  10. I saw this earlier and wanted to share it. I'm pretty excited...hopefully the album isn't riddled with weak production, which has been the downfall of a couple of his albums. For those of you like me who don't like clicking likes, here's the article... DMX Will Release ‘Redemption Of The Beast’ Album Next Week Jan 6th, '15 • by Morgan Murrell After releasing his seventh studio album Undisputed back in 2012, DMX is ready to shake things up again with his forthcoming album Redemption of the Beast. The Yonkers rapper is planning on releasing an album through iTunes on Jan. 13. Based on tracklist provided by MissInfo, the project will feature 16 never-before-heard tracks, as well as, guest collaborations from Freeway, Rampage and Jannyce. Back in September, DMX and fellow Ruff Ryder Swizz Beatz were pictured in the studio together which had media outlets wondering what the two were cooking up. Many believed a Ruff Ryders collaborative album was in the works, but this might have been the project he was working on the entire time. Check out the official tracklist below: 1. Spit That **** 2. Built Like a Bitch 3. On and On 4. Get Up and Try Again 5. Solid (feat. Rampage) 6. I’m Gonna Win 7. It’s a Problem 8. It’s Goin’ Down 9. Shout It 10. One More Night 11. 56 Bars 12. Where You Been (feat. Freeway) 13. Right or Wrong (feat. Jannyce) 14. Gonna Get Mine 15. We Gonna Make It 16. Love That Bitch (feat. Jannyce)
  11. I recently listened to the song. I like a lot of the lyrics, which is something I don't think I said for a Kanye song in 6 years or so. I'd really like this song if a qualified singer was singing it. The autotune kills the honestly of it and cheapens the whole thing. His singing is simply terrible and distracts the track from having the potential of greatness with him on the mic. I suggest giving the song to someone like Jason Mraz, because the song has potential. Also, JJ Boogie, who plays guitar in Arrested Development, and who is a musical genius said "Just heard the new Kanye song featuring Paul McCartney on keys. There's so much audible Autotune on Kanye's voice to get his bad notes he sang into key that he should have just hired Paul to sing it and have himself play the MPC sampling Paul's keyboard. Nice message but a painfully mediocre song." LOL
  12. DIGABLE PLANETS - For Corners Blowout Comb (1995)
  13. I'm not really a fan of Fabolous. Lyrically, to me, he's about as average as they come. I haven't listened to all of his stuff, but I don't really remember him recording anything very powerful or meaningful. I feel like the only Fabolous songs I really love are the ones with good guest artists, or a producer who gave him a nice mainstream, Hip-Hop sound. His monotone voice and delivery is boring to me. He sounds so uninteresting on his records that I don't even think he's interested in what he's saying.
  14. SMOKEY ROBINSON + JESSIE J - Cruisin' Smokey + Friends (2014)
  15. The video has been removed. I saw that the song had come out but never gave it a listen simply because of one fact (okay, it's really my opinion): Kanye simply doesn't make good music anymore. Secondly (and this is a fact): he's an absolute douche bag, with a horrible voice, who hasn't written a good lyric in at least 6 or 7 years. I'll give it a listen the next time I come across the track since you give it praise...but I'm not going out of my way to look for it...lol.
  16. I think racism is one of the stupidest things the human race has ever created. The amount of racism we see in the news/media/music these days is astounding. At the same time, I like the exposure it's getting for people to check themselves. I actually reminds me of the racial tension of the early 90's and how they lead to some walls being torn down. Hopefully all this nonsense leads to love. Any way, I though this article was really good. I haven't watched the video yet, but I'm going to watch it shortly... ---------------------------------------------------------------- Macklemore Participates in an Honest Conversation About Race and White Privilege in Hip-Hop By Jesse David Fox Earlier this month, Azealia Banks was on Hot 97's “Ebro in the Morning.” There, she discussed her issues with Iggy Azalea and the appropriation of hip-hop. It has since resulted in a heated exchange between Banks and Azalea, and a dialogue about race in rap music. To continue the conversation, “Ebro in the Morning” had Macklemore on the program earlier this week. The conversation is both candid and enlightening. Macklemore speaks as one of a select group: white rappers who have achieved mainstream success. When asked if he felt his race contributed to his being embraced by white radio and fans, he says, “Yes, absolutely.” He elaborates with a stirring string of questions (around the 12-minute mark): Why am I safe? Why can I cuss on a record, have a parental advisory sticker on the cover of my album, yet parents are still like, ‘You are the only rap I let my kids listen to? ... Why can I wear a hoodie and not be labeled a thug? Why can I sag my pants and not be a gang banger? Why am I on Ellen’s couch? Why am I on Good Morning America? If I was black, what would my drug addiction look like? He summarizes his point by saying, “The privilege that exists in the music industry is just a symptom of the privilege exists in America.” The entire conversation is a must-listen: passionate, thoughtful, frank. Macklemore goes as far as to literally break down how his music was promoted to radio, admitting that he went to alternative radio first as opposed to hip-hop stations. Though he refrains from discussing the beef between Azalea and Banks specifically, Macklemore does weigh in on what is at the root of Banks’s problem with Azalea (around the 35-minute mark), saying, “To me what it comes down is you need to know your place in your culture. Are you contributing or are you taking? Are you using it for your own advantage or are you contributing to the culture?” Watch below and try to ignore Macklemore’s hat. 17. Thank you! Voting ends tomorrow. If anyone else willing to do it, I appreciate it. It's frustrating, because as I see my play approaching the number one spot, someone from the other theater gets the competition pushed up higher. I saw the show, it was good, by mine was much better. It sucks when the art goes out the door for voting games.
  18. I don't care if J. Cole or Dayne Jordan are newer to the game; their albums are by far superior to the GOAT 2 stuff. It all boils down to the music, and right now, LL is NOT holding up his end of the bargain as an artist.
  19. Rap-Up TV: LL Cool J Reveals Eminem Collaboration on ‘G.O.A.T. 2’ The G.O.A.T. and Slim Shady are joining forces for one epic collaboration. LL Cool J has revealed that Eminem will be featured on his upcoming album G.O.A.T. 2. In an exclusive interview with Rap-Up TV, LL made the big announcement. “Me and Em have a song. He just recently let me hear his verse and it’s crazy. He’s chainsawing ****,” he said. “I think people are gonna be pleasantly surprised when they hear me and him on a record together.” Em, who has been vocal about LL’s influence on his career, performed a tribute to the Queens icon at 2009’s “VH1 Hip Hop Honors,” but this marks their first collaboration. “It’s our first time we ever did something together,” said LL. “This is a record that I think people are gonna be excited [about]. To miss out on this G.O.A.T. 2 album would be a travesty for hip-hop. You can’t miss this ****.” G.O.A.T. 2, which arrives 15 years after the original G.O.A.T., will also include collaborations with OGs like Raekwon (“I’m Nice”) and T.I. “We just got together, talkin’ and vibin’,” he said of working with Tip. “He had an idea that he wanted to send me and I thought it was a crazy idea, and we collaborated and put something together that I think people are gonna bug out on. It’s gonna be trippy.” The 46-year-old rapper has kept his ear to the streets and tapped some fresh talent including Fred the Godson and Troy Ave (“You Already”). “I got a lot of young gunners on this album. People that are hungry and wanna make the best music,” he said. “It’s about the beat and the bars and the rhymes. It’s about it being current and fresh and riveting, not a bunch of old, tired ’95 nugget ring bull****. It’s newness. It’s fresh.”
  20. DAVE HOLLISTER - Spend The Night (Teddy Riley Remix) Chicago Winds...The Saga Continues (2014) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOcIZ4DaOjE Man, this sounds like old school BLACKstreet. This album is soooooo good.
  21. LL is one of my favorite emcees and always has been, but there's no reason NOT to harshly criticize this material. While he's kept a nice presence vocally, SOME of the subject matter is weak and unnecessary. The real issue though, is the production. It's wack on most of these songs. It's borderline un-listenable. Sure, it might be better than what on the radio, but real Hip-Hop isn't played on the radio at all. Unless he scraps most of these songs like he did with Authentic Hip-Hop, this album is going to be very disappointing. The kids aren't going to be checking for this because he's not Kanye, but the Hip-Hop heads aren't going to check it either because the sound is so weak. LL should be ashamed. Period. It looks like these J. Cole and Dayne Jordan albums are going to have to hold me over for awhile.
  22. Horrible production. I like his delivery, but none of that matters when the production is this terrible. Only two of the songs we've heard so far are worthy of being an album titled GOAT 2.
  23. I kind of hope they pull this off. Raz-B has been an over-angered idiot over the years. Omarion has gotten more musically sloppy/common. Other than Omarion, none of them have had any real solo success. The reality show they did years ago (that you can find on YouTube) never made it to television. Truth is, these guys had a lot of good R-N-B song in their time. Immature and Chris Stokes made a lot of their stuff great, so it'll be interesting to see what they come up with without them. With Omarion messing with idiots like Rick Ross and the two rappers thugging out some of their individual stuff, and Raz B acting crazy, it'll be interesting to see if they can achieve a legit sound that isn't trying to separate them from the stuff they did when they are younger. For those of you who frown upon B2K because of how annoying their fans were on the Sony boards, they actually did have some good songs...lol --------------------------------------------------- CentricTV.com | B2K Staging A Reunion in 2015? B2K Staging A Reunion in 2015? Could Omarion, Fizz, J Boog and Raz B be gearing up for a reunion album in the new year? Justin Dwayne Joseph Posted: 12/25/2014 01:15 PM EST B2K is reuniting?! Last week, when group members Omarion, Fizz and J Boog posted a picture of their mini reunion at a Los Angeles-area restaurant, rumors of the group's comeback began to churn in the mill. But it seems those rumors have been confirmed by a very unlikely source: Raz B. The group's estranged member re-posted the photo accompanied by the caption: " I Got The Call. We'll see what's in God's will...I've been pushing this for years..." NEW MUSIC: OMARION FT. RICK ROSS - BOSS Things between Raz B and his bandmates became strained after he stepped forward with sexual assault allegations against their manager and label chief Chris Stokes in 2007. Disbanded since 2004, each member has gone on to focus on solo pursuits, the most successful of them being Omarion who has charted a string of successful hits and is currently is the star of VH1's hit reality show Love and Hip Hop: Hollywood. During their run, the R&B quartet released two albums, the last being 2002's gold-certified Pandemonium!
