  1. Brakes, u certainly aren't missing anything. That sounds about right 2 me.
  2. GANG STARR - Moment of Truth Moment of Truth (1998) Probably my favorite Gang Starr song ever. This song always puts life in perspective.
  3. Who knew "Black Suits Comin'" would be one of the most exciting moments on the board in 2010...lol. Anyone else think this is the best version as well?
  4. I used to think Kanye was a dope producer. About 2005 he started getting really inconsistent. He's sound started branching out and with that the over all quality went down. He's voice, flow, and lyrics are already lacking. Once u take away the dope beats and substitute them with average or weak beats, there's nothing to help u forget all of the immature and stupid things that he says and does on a regular basis. U can fix bad production...u can't fix stupid. Drake? I never thought he was good. Like...ever.
  5. Yeah, that movie looks like it's gonna be really good. Definitely a step in the right direction when it comes to Common Sense's acting career.
  6. QUEEN LATIFAH feat. HEAVY D, KRS-ONE, + TREACH - Rough Black Reign (1993) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3v2r4RQkmgU
  7. No, Ted. It looks the same but the tracklisting is different.
  8. RUFUS & CHAKA KHAN - Tell Me Something Good
  9. Yeah, the MIB 2 Remix is only on the Import CD Single. I think it's clearly the best version of the song. The others are so polished and over-produced.
  10. KIERNAN MCMULLAN - Running On Empty The Best Part (EP) (2010) This is one of my favorite acoustic artists. I met him this past summer. Whenever I'm in an acoustic mood, his stuff hits the spot.
  11. I'm neither against it or for it. I just want the movie to be good. Marvin Gaye is legendary. It's one of those situations where u almost need a no-name actor to embody that real-life person. Watching ALI, I was constantly thinking "that's Fresh Prince." I still liked the movie but when a no-name actor is playing the role, u are get more tied up in the movie. If a big name actor was in Superman Returns I wouldn't have liked it as much. The only thing I hate about music bio-pics is that it's awkward seeing a film with an actor lipsyncing to classic songs u've heard 100 times. That's just always been weird to me.
  12. GANGSTARR w/ TOTAL - Discipline (Instrumental) Disciipline (CD Promo) (1999)
  13. I can't say I like this song but thanks for sharing it. I tried to get the free download but it looked like that link just took me to a generic download page...not for the song.
  14. I know he's one of my friends on Myspace. I haven't checked his page for updates in awhile. I was on YouTube last week and saw a perofrmance of Pete Rock + CL Smooth from the very end of last year. That was refreshing since they said they'd never work 2gether again a few years back.
  15. EMINEM - Not Afraid Recovery (2010) This is okay...I hear it's the 1st single. Holding out for a really good song...
  16. Reading this sparks my interest a bit. I still think he's voice, flow, and lyrics are average when their at their best. His ego and maturity that has displayed over the past few years is ridiculous. I just don't have much respect for him at all. With Pete Rock, Q-Tip, and DJ Premier working on the project, I'll give it a listen. I'm glad he's done with the sound of his last studio album. That was straight garbage.
  17. I'm pretty sure I only own albums by Method Man. I like a few singles from their solo projects but none of their voices really stand out as appealing to me and I never caught any lyrics from them that kept my attention. I'm not saying they are bad emcees. Alot of their music just isn't my flavor. Since there isn't much new Hip-Hop to pay attention to I'll go back and check out some of their music.
  18. I've never been that into Wu-Tang. I liked some songs off their 1st album but never really got into anyone from Wu (other than some of Method Man's stuff). Is RZA really that good of a producer? Even after the 90's? I'm not disrespecting at all. They just never grabbed me as anything outstanding.
  19. Less than a week!! I got hyped when Suncoast dropped off a mini catalog at my work and in the Upcoming Releases for May 4th....there it was The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: Season 5. This is beautiful.
  20. I'm probably picking this up 2morrow. I peeped the tracks on CDnow.com and I doesn't sound like it'll be in my top 5 of 2010 but definitely in my top 10.
  21. Premier has handled this whole thing with class. It's not like I know for sure that Solar wrote it, but it's obvious that it looks that way and that Solar is a total idiot. He's just ugly in my eyes. I watched the Mass Appeal:The Best of Gang Starr DVD the other night was was remembering the good times.
  22. I think there was an MTV Unplugged VHS back in the day that featured this performance. I intended on getting it but never did. Your post reminded me of it. I'm sure one day I'll have it and I'll be able to upload it when I get a new computer in a couple months.
  23. The new Eminem album is slated for late June. It's called Recovery. I thought Relapse was a step in the right direction. I'm hoping "recovery" means he's making a further growth to better music. I'm hoping that the smaller level of success of Relapse doesn't have him going back to the 2001-2008ish Eminem. His rap on that B.O.B. track is the weakest part of the song...the annoying rapping voice was in tact.
  24. I could never see Ja-Rule getting past average status even with him striving for greatness. Don't get me wrong, I'll give anything an honest listen. It's just that he'll never be on LL Cool J's level. He'll never be on Chuck D's level. He's made some decent songs and he's made alot of awful songs.
