  1. The Space Jam soundtrack is easily in my top 5 favorite soundtracks of all time. It is, in a word, FLAWLESS. Here's my favorite basketball jam... BELL BIV DEVOE - Above The Rim Hootie Mack (1993)
  2. I remember when I joined this forum years ago. I wasn't a fan of DJ Jazzy Jeff + Fresh Prince at all. I just joined so I could ask computer related ?uestions on the off topic board. :spam_smilie:
  3. LL COOL J - Strictly Business Strictly Business Soundtrack (1991) I wanted this soundtrack back in 1991...and finally got it last week....lol. "New" music from LL Cool J, Heavy D + The Boyz, Jodeci, etc...
  4. I've heard some of that Soul Intent. For years I thought Eminem's 1st stuff was recorded in the mid-90's...then I heard this early 90's stuff. He definitely fit in with the times...tho' the Jesus Christ Superstar sample was crazy. I think I found pop jam for the summer... KATY PERRY + SNOOP DOGG - California Girls (Whatever her upcoming album is) (2010) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqMf3W7Y2WI&feature=fvst
  5. "Gangsta's Paradise," Bone's "1st of The Month" and MJ's "You Are Not Alone" were my favorite songs of that summer. And Janet's "All For You" era was flawless. It's probably my 2nd favorite album by her. My 1st would be janet. featuring my favorite song by her..."Again." G-WIZ - Dirty Luv (R&B Remix) Dirty Luv (Cassette Maxi-Single) (1995) G-Wiz has always been one of my favorite groups. Hardly anyone remembers them.
  6. Man, I STILL haven't gotten that book. I know I will one day. And yes, I know he give FP his props.
  7. Yeah, I'm with u on that. I like that each of LL's album are different and have their own vibe that separates them from each other. That means that each person is gonna have a different favorite. My Exit 13 comment is strongly based off of some of the beats being so commercial. I didn't feel they were an extension of LL...I felt they were radio-ready beats that LL blessed with his mic skills. I didn't feel that that the production was honest to what LL does. It's the 1st album he's done that I've every felt that way. Overall, lyrically I don't feel he slipped. I just remember that the lyrics and subject matter on Exit 13 didn't always sit as well with me as all of his other albums. I believe that if proper Hip-Hop producers got their hands on the vocal tracks, they could rework Exit 13 to be a lot better.
  8. 702 - Get It Together No Doubt (1996) Man, I miss R-N-B like this. Back when the production was often flawless, soulful, and the lyrics were assessable to everyone. Plus the videos were a bit artsy. R.I.P. to original and sometimes 702 member Orish (Irish's twin).
  9. I already announced a couple months ago that he was working on a new album. I kept the faith even when he originally said he was retiring. I like that he's taking his time. I though Exit 13 was an okay album....but I also thought it was his worst. When I burned a copy for the car I probably only put a half of the trax on it at the most....then filled the rest of the 80 minutes up with recent singles and favorites. Why he may have been more aggressive on Exit 13, I think he took some steps backwards lyrically than the previous 3 albums.
  10. I usually don't listen to each song on albums unless I'm really skeptical about liking them. I've listened to 3 or 4 tracks and I like them. I know I wouldn't like it as much as Infinite or The Slim Shady LP, but from what I heard so far, I might light it better than The Marshall Mathers LP. We'll see.
  11. J-LIVE + DJ JAZZY JEFF - One To 31 Then What Happened? (2008)
  12. Let's be real. When Hip-Hop heads are praising Eazy-E, we are recognizing that fact that is the godfather of hardcore Hip-Hop...which evolved to Gangsta Rap. He really planted roots for the west coast. Especially when it came go giving the west coast a sound that was original and different from the rest of the Hip-Hop coming from the east. Russell Simmons does deserve the title of the 1st record executive and entrepreneur of hip-hop, but Eazy-E was probably the second. And he didn't exactly takes Russell's formula to do it. He pioneered things his way. Eazy-E deserves props as a figure in Hip-Hop...however, as an emcee, he was never that impressive. R.I.P.
  13. THE LUNIZ w/ SHOCK-G, HUMPTY HUMP, E-40, RICHIE RICH, SPICE-1, DRU DOWN - I Got 5 On It (Bay Ballas Remix) I Got 5 On It (CD Single) (1995) I didn't even know they made a music video 2 this until I was looking for a link 4 y'all 2 peep.
  14. JAGGED EDGE - Walked Out of Heaven Hard (2003)
  15. That video is ill. I love it. It's artsy and the visuals are amazing without being "hollywood." Em looks better than he ever has and he sounds better than he has in a long time. I haven't listened 2 "Not Afraid" in a couple weeks. I just love that song. My attention is hooked until it drops.
  16. I saw someone tagged Jazzy in that pic on Facebook. Love it.
  17. I like the promo pix for the album. The song titles have my interest sparked. The collabos go from interesting to bad. I still plan on giving it an honest listen.
  18. Back in the day I never saw this commercial on TV but my cousin always talked about it. I remember he said that there was a DJ Jazzy Jeff Starter advertisement in one of the local athletic stores and he was going to try and get it for me but they trashed it. I was never into doing what everyone else was doing. Starter was the brand back in the day and I remember that their hoodies and hats were awesome. One of the few popular brands that had the quality to back up the hype.
  19. Wow! I'll only give 2 or 3 of them a listen...and I'm not even that excited for those.
  20. HEAVY D + THE BOYZ - You Can't See What I Can See Don't Curse (CD Single) (1991) Man, what happened to Hip-Hop?
  21. Jaden's rap isn't going to make any waves in the Hip-Hop world...but he is good. You can see a bit of the Fresh Prince in him. He could actually be a good emcee in a few years. I wonder if who wrote his verse. None of the lines made me say "Yeah, FP wrote that" for sure, but some of them had that FP kind of feel 2 them. Didn't FP say Jaden didn't have any rhythm in an interview a few years ago. His flow was right with the beat and he can dance a bit...lol.
  22. RAW FUSION + 2PAC - #1 With A Bullet Live From the Styleetron (1991) I can't believe I've never heard this before. Back in 1991 I was already a Digital Underground and 2Pac fan but I just now bought this album.
  23. World Class Wreckin' Cru wasn't exactly gangsta...my issue is that once he left Deathrow, he pretty much purged that vibe from his life style. I have an interview from 1996 taped somewhere with him saying Aftermath was about making real Hip-Hop music and that Gangsta Rap was dead. He said he wanted to make real music and even release records with no profanity. But when Chronic 2001 came around, more than half of the album was riddled with the same kind of weak, stupid subject matter. Some of the production was great, some was average. Some of the guests were great, some weren't. My argument on Gangsta Rap will always be the same...if u are really sexin' so many ho's, u'll get some disease and die. If u are really toting a gun ready 2 kill someone, u will and u'll be in jail...if someone doesn't kill u first. If u are addicted 2 drugs u'll be in jail or too wasted as an individual to create music. Gangsta Rap is fake. It's ridiculous and wack. No grown man should be seriously promoting that image unless they wanna be considered a joke. In the words of KRS-One (on Arsenio Hall's sofa, sitting right next to Eazy-E)..."Real gangstas don't rap." Let me hear Dre talk about real things. He was seeing things most clearly in 1996. The Aftermath album was a nice 1st step...but then he abandoned the vision. And how many albums has he released in the past 15 years?!?!?
