  1. "Rap is something you do, HipHop is something you live" KRS-ONE Thats the difference someone lock the thread cause its jumping from topic to topic and becoming a disturbance... just start a fresh thread titled "my opinions on random rappers in the game"
  2. My Personal Favorites for 06 (HipHop) Albums of the Year: Arrested Development - Since The Last Time (Import) Lord Jamar - The 5% Album M1 - Confidential Ghostface Killah - Fishscale The Roots - Game Theory Method Man - 4:21 The Day After Cunninlynguists - A Piece of Strange K-Os - Atlantis: Hymns For Disco Jurassic 5 - Feedback Honorable Mention: Pack Fm - whutduzFMstand4 Jedi Mind Tricks - Servants In Hell, Kings In Hell AZ - The Format It was a solid year in my opinion to end the year with over 10 albums of HipHop(i cant remember anymore off top) with different offerings within each cd.
  3. one word: money and thats not what hip hops about money is the root to evil... lets take a look at this The Label Multi-million dollar labels have employed many business and marketing graduates who lack a true knowledge of hiphop. They know how to promote, market and sell whatever the fans are buying into, to make the label more money. The Fans The fans have dictated every musical trend today... if they dont like it, its not going to get played, bottom line. Now rap music has evolved horribly within the past few years but we cant blame the artists... theres always been bad artist, its the fans who are keeping the south alive. The Fusion Of The Two The labels notice whats hot(the south), the employees get on their hustle and use strategies to develop marketing schemes to feed off this trend as much as possible, and by doing this southern artist are signed, promoted and sold in everystore near you. Ignorance is addictive to these fans nowadays... how they bought into it, i dont know and I personally dont like a large % of southern rappers but to blame them for what theyve always done isnt right to me. We must blame those who are promoting, marketing, selling and buying into this garbage. The south has been spittin this same nonsense years before it went huge... so no matter what, theyre going to keep doing it. All in all, i agree that the south is horrible but we cant blame people for doing what theyve always been doing and letting the people who are promoting, marketing and selling it get away clean.
  4. Skillz easy... Nas re-used the sample he had for Thief's Theme, and to me, that brough the originality of the songs sound out of contention. Nas' wordplay is better, but Skillz' presence, straight to the point lyrics and original beat got it for me. and on a sidenote: Nas's cd, to me, is over-rated and being seen as this classic album just because he's making a statement with the Title. His songs on the cd are very average. His lyrics will always be there but the song quality overall is very basic to me. I was very dissapointed when i heard that cd and NO im not buying it. I love Nas but he could have came much stronger especially with this much anticipation building it up. Heres the flipside... it will get good reviews and be seen as a great album but thats because its better than whats being released at the moment.
  5. Me and Zion after his show in Austin
  6. ok i saw this vid a couple years back and im pretty sure not many people have seen this video please take the time to watch this, and the names mentioned are: Puff Daddy Foxy Brown Mase Will Smith Jermaine Dupri Mad Skillz - Ghostwriter (Live)
  7. i remember the day i took this pic with my digi. camera in Vegas... i was leaning over a rail to get the best possible angle... lol i remember me also agreeing with my sister that the buildings look fake in this picture
  8. This is becoming pretty funny and serious if you ask me. Take this for example... ive written and produced over a combined 300 tracks since 17 years of age. (senior year of high school)... Im currently in my 4th year of college and yet over the course of these 4 going on 5 years i still keep in mind my true love... music. I had a scholarship for basketball that ended bad my freshman year and ive been on an extreme roller coaster ride since. Im flat broke and i even had to pick up some very low paying jobs just to pay rent but yet i havent charged one person for any of my mixtapes. Those 3 mixtapes combined are just at 3 hours in length, not counting the many hours it took for me to write, record, and find time for it. Its sacrifice. I have everyright to charge for my music for personal reasons but my music, to me, wouldnt have spread as rapidly. A 9hr job 5 days a week that ends up going towards rent, gas and food... plus 15hrs a week of attending classes, and countless hours of staying up, losing sleep over my true love... HipHop (writing, producing, recording and just listening as a fan). Yall can find excuses for Will and say this and that but i firsthand understand and have experienced a hectic schedule when 24/7 your feeling exhausted and in the roughest times of that experience i released "The Magnificent Mixtape" and since that release been working hard on my album. Will has money, has talent and has the ability to write his own lyrical content. I love the dude but ive never thought once of having someone write my stuff. So we can continue to debate over who wrote what or who did this but bottom line... you shouldnt have people doing what you love for you (writing rhymes or ghostproducing) especially in HipHop when YOUR skills determine your status and respect. Money isnt an issue and shouldnt even be allowed to interfere in what you truly love. I just had to get that off my chest cause theyre so many excuses nowadays to cover up for the sacrifices these people arent willing to make. I eat, sleep and live for HipHop... and no matter how succesful i become in any area of business or entertainment, when it comes to making music... i dont want anyone putting their hands in on what i should be controlling. Peace, Love, Unity & Having Fun... HipHops true nature
  9. word... to me, when i found out about Will a couple years ago, i took it eaxactly how Cozmo interpreted it but ghostwriting is just silly in HipHop... i really have no comments towards this
  10. Song Title Fresh Prince Feat. Ace and Brakes - Royal Flush Ace and Prince = deck of cards Brakes = monarchy (kings and queens) prince(jack), queen, king and ace... thats the line up but id like to see a Lauryn Hill/Will Smith collabo since they both are in very deep with their faith and religion
  11. Very interesting and informative... thanks for sharing this with the people because i too discovered a certain flaw with his flow. I never considered that he would have used a ghostwriter but it makes you question the game today. Its definately something to think about and im glad Cozmo shared this piece with us. R.I.P. Proof
  12. eminem = unranked due to inconsistency and wack rhymes ludacris = not a bad mainstream mc but on my list, somewhere between 75-100
  13. no matter how hard you stress the message, it goes un-acted upon due to the inbalance of power I agree that people can convert but thats not the point I was aiming that statement towards. I said it because no one man can shift the balance. It takes unity and togetherness to overthrow those in power. It goes un-acted upon because when someone such as a radio DJ hear's a track such as Brakes' track, they can simply trash it cause it has no club, thug or drug appeal. But if theres 50 tracks such as his and others, and people request it and demand it, then that radio DJ would have to think about his next action due to the buzz of that context of music. but i feel we agree but just looked at it differently
  14. solid verse you made plenty of valid points but the irony is... no matter how hard you stress the message, it goes un-acted upon due to the inbalance of power... but our current attitudes and actions while in this powerless position will depict our future in this artform... but i like the track though, its a nice beat to compliment a stress filled verse
  15. what you've heard in the past might not even be on the album though... i made a lot of changes with it. i do see what your saying because as far favorites go, this isnt even in my top 3 when it comes to my tracks on the album... i felt it had the brightest and most upbeat feeling that can catch ears.... some of my songs are too complex for some people out there who dont listen to good hiphop... it was a wise decision but i understand where your coming from though. i appreciate your feedback though... but im going to release 2 singles too. The 2nd, well have to wait a little bit for that one.... but take care man, peace!
  16. Whats good everyone... heres my single entitled "Ace In A Hole". If you can get it to your radio stations, online broadcasts, friends, family, anyone with ears, etc.... Yall have always shown me support and im grateful. I hope yall enjoy it.... Written and Produced by me... DaAce - Ace In A Hole Verse 1: the moment is here, this poet is clear the flow that you hear is now holding open your ears and my soul is sincere the chosen premier leaving opponents in fear and soaking in tears cause im.. da a.c.e yea usually flamespitting acussed of a great wisdom and soon to be shapeshiftin i view and intake vision like food on a thanksgiving so lyrically accurate i can shoot down a clay pigeon ... a matter of fact the matter is that most rappers are wack they happen to lack the data and facts they scatter the map... but couldnt make a hit if they hacked with a bat, with a racket attached and its true... and im da ace in the flesh with a rhyme outta this world up in space with cadets and if you cant fill my shoes start tracing my steps show support like leverage and braces for necks because Verse 2: the second i spit, you hit the deck with a flip when it left from the lip it sounded like a weopon equiped you hoped the stuff that people said was a myth but the legend is this, the cat with 3 7's exist ... my rhymes and lyrics are scientific breaking lines of phsyics so i slightly twist it to a time of mystics, heiroglyphics for the higher spirits, its where i existed check it, my flow is so sharp the nose of a dart when closing its mark would fold and depart from only a bar ... im sold to the art my soul is the part like ventricles allowing certain flows to go to the heart ... ive entered the game, my pen is in flames im bending the frame like cars jumping into ya lane and denting your range my sentence remains to leave an image displayed to make sure that yall remember the name because Verse 3: ive been direct my intellect is in the head (yea) i then will step and then reflect my thin regrets (yea) i tend to wreck and injure sets up in the flesh (yea) im in effect the image press of imhotep (lets go) ... to test my zone from flesh to bone i ghostwrote the greatest works that youve ever known i etched and sketched the text on the rosetta stone and it was swept and kept when it was left alone but still
  17. C.L. Smooth - American Me: 4/5 The album is definately a solid piece of work from a legend. I wouldve bought it if one of the stores in San Antonio SOLD IT. Its a shame when i go to best buy, circuit city, etc... to support HipHop but they fail to have any products to sale. Jedi Mind Tricks, C.L. Smooth, AZ, Zion I & Grouch are just a few names within the past month who i've tried to support but due to the overstocking of Lady Soveriegn, Chingy, Lloyd Banks, and a million Texas artists, the shelves fail to contain a cd of the artist i mentioned that i am in search for. But i can speak for hours about how crooked this game has turned but i have better things right now to do, such as finish my Album. But please yall, Dont sleep on C.L. Smooth's cd as well as AZ's... both are very solid albums... Peace Yall!
  18. thanks yall for the support and oh yea i have a clue for something coming soon... its a riddle the top cards will rise if it grinds with the pad (pen & pad)
