  1. Is it just me or are people not buying albums like they used to? Maybe it's because the music was better back then, even though it'd do the same numbers. Perhaps something is up with our economy. I know I'm not helping it. I'm on the broke line. Record companies have to feel bad right now. What are you gonna do guys???
  2. You're all about Baywatch today aint cha? But anyway, I find it funny that Ice T is being what he acted like on Chappelle Show... a Playa Hater. I really didn't see the article as a jealousy statement. It was more of an inspiration. "hey, this guy is making this much money doing this, and I could very well too if I put forth the effort." Either way, let's see if he really steps it up.
  3. I personally prefer the video. Mint Condition - What Kind of Man Would I Be (Definition of A Band - 1995)
  4. Tatyana Ali feat. Kel Spencer - Getting Closer
  5. You're making something complicated that isn't. Even Pharoach Monche "bit" the style of Frank Sinatra, when he sang "New York" on "Guerilla Moonsoon Rap" w/ Kweli & Black Thought. haha. If it's not known as a tribute, it's no big deal. Sometimes, it's just a fun thing to do.
  6. It's unbelieveable how much of an effect you can have. Rakim is one of the top emcees where "Hip Hop Quotables" have come from. Wu-Tang Clan has got some. Mobb Deep has a couple. A whole lot of artists have a quotable from somebody, or they like something that was said, there is no other way to say it. Eric B + Rakim's "Paid In Full" is one of the most sample hip hop albums ever.
  7. What's that suppose to mean? Haike D'Etat - Coup De Theatre album (somebody just up and burned this for me. ) Pretty dope cd. Wow!!
  8. Saigon - Pain In My Life feat. Trey Songz
  9. Jean Grae, Mos Def, & Memphis Bleek - Crooklyn Dodgers 3 Geez, whats up with R&B nowadays on the mainstream???
  10. Yeah, if anything, it's a well rounded roster. Everybody gets a few lines or it's like 300 Bars & Runnin' and they just go all out. I don't keep tabs on The Game but I'll be watchin for this.
  11. Yeah, I was gonna hold out on this cd, but I was just amazed at "The Pen, The Sword", so I'm gonna get asap. I just hope this doesn't mess up the credibility he's already gotten. If anything, enhance it.
  12. Talib Kweli feat. Mary J. Blige - I Try (The Beautiful Struggle - 2004) I so need this right now.
  13. You should try the "I Need A Girl (To Bella)" version off the P.Diddy and the Bad Boy Family album. It so much better than both versions. Shai - Comforter
  14. Well, people might be like me, and download albums or a track or two until I can get out and get the cd. Nas isn't necessarily a commercial selling artist. Many of us very well know that. The money doesn't matter to him, but he's still gonna make it. Nas will never be labeled a "flop" because you can't look at him as a seller. His releases are on a different tip. LL Cool J would be a good example on the other end. (bigted you know for sure. he's true to himself and "his" art, yet has the greatest desire to sell and be a success. Tell me if I'm wrong.) You have no idea how appetizing those tracks were. "North by Northwest" feat. The Game, "Polo & Guess" feat. Jay-Z, "Gods & Earths" feat. Rakim, "U.B.K. (Unauthorized Biography of KRS-One), etc. Wouldn't it be something is if after every "UB?", Nas collabed with that artist on his next albums. The thing about bein a fan of Nas is following whole heartedly and then he turns. (Look at each of the albums as a whole. You're gonna feel each one differently) If he's gonna say "Hip Hop is Dead", look at what it stood for when it came out and how it elevated. The views of this album can go both ways. G-Unit put out a mixtape titled "Hip Hop is Dead". What does that mean, especially to them? Not something that needs to really be answered but think about it. Just ponder it.
  15. I just listened to "The N". I honestly think Nas is gonna pull of a perfect rating in some magazines. If he gets anything less, it'll be because they disagree with some concepts he brings to light. Talib Kweli - Too Late (Instrumental)
  16. I went searchin' and found 17 tracks, but #7 was missin'. I was thinkin' of downloadin' them all, but I think I'll wait. For some reason, "The N" that I found was 3:53, instead of the 2:48 we heard. hmm. And I did see a track with Michael Jackson. Maybe it's just a sample or something, who knows. It's amazing how Nas sound has matured and varied up each album.
  17. Bell Biv DeVoe - When Will I See You Smile Again
  18. Yeah it is. There is only 6 songs for $7.98. "The Pen, The Sword" is a very captivating song.
  19. I peeped the tracks. Wow, there is a difference. I can honestly say I'm not feelin it as much as his current stuff. But it something about it that just has an appeal. Those humble beginnings. It might be awhile before I buy it because I don't exactly have money to throw away. It's good he keeps moving to new and amazing things.
  20. that one of the few rocks songs that I really love. I got hooked to this song when they played it after the '98 NBA Finals between the Bulls and the Jazz.
  21. Boyz II Men - Here I Come (The Remedy-2006) Yeah, it's not quite the same without Mr. Mike on the bass. They still sound dope tho.
  22. I've got 3 tracks from the album so far. It's really good.
