One more note. Theres only one thing worse than Willow is a Player on B2R, and that is no Jazzy Jeff. Would have been nice for at least one non Tra Knox tune.

I hate Willow Is a Player too. Although I Can't Stop is one of my favorites. I'm sure if I was a big Will Smith fan back then I would have been dissapointed with B2R simply because everything features Tra Knox, but just hearing the album for the first time this year like a unexpected bonus, I gotta say, I like the album a lot. But yeah, Will is a player could be marked down as one of the all time worst Will Smith songs.

Born 2 Reign is my second favorite Will Smith album, and to be honest, I've been listening to it a lot more lately since L&F has gotten a little old. I'll probably get bored of b2r next and move to willenium. Good thing Will has been doing this for 2 decades now... I have plenty to listen to when I get bored of one album.

Well we havn't even seen the Aug 9th spins yet (release date) and Will is already getting 200+ spins for Party Starter, so I'm going to say theres about a 100% chance that Party Starter will get more spins than Switch in its opening week.

Does anyone know how Billboard determines rankings? After all, there the important rank for a single that everyone really looks at in the end, and I know they don't base there rankings strictly off airplay.

Party Starter is ranked 99 in Airplay!!!! This was between July 23-July 30 which means Party Starter hit the top 100 before release! :jazzy:

This single has to be big. Most of the new singles out by other rap artists right now are :sleep2: I think this might even help get Will on Black Radio again.

Well, first off, some of us never made that prediction (I wasn't a member at the time). Secondly, you can't hold someone to their predictions like that. I remember the first time I heard L&F. I couldn't believe how great the album was, the song moved from one to the next perfectly, and the overall album seemed to have a great flow. One song became my favorite, then on each listen my favorite song seemed to change. I think a lot of people felt this way, so I don't blam them for saying 4X. Still, lets be serious, Will hadn't been on most mainstream radio for years (I never heard a Born to Reign single in Fenton, MO). It was going to take a while for Will to get big again, and I've argued before that if Will was coming off an album like Big Willie Style, Switch would have been number 1. It wasn't, simply because it took a long time for all radio to accept Will again. They have now, that is a comeback, pure and simple. Everything else is a bonus at this point. I'm loving it, and I can't wait for the next album.

Yeah look at Fat Joe, his single "Get It Poppin'" is one of the most popular songs of the summer but his album's gonna sell less than Bow Wow, lol, but why do we talk like "Party Starter"'ll save the album then? I'm happy with going gold here, I was worried that it'd even do that after the "Born To Reign" disaster and with mostly G Unit and Aftermath artists getting airplay and how much disrespect ol' school rappers get in the commercial scene, since MTV calls Eminem the original storyteller and ignores Slick Rick, I figured that nobody wanted to hear Will anymore, but it's reached my expectations and everything from this point on is a bonus, so I'm gonna chill! ← Couldn't Say it Any Better. Will made a comeback, no doubt about it. Everything from now really is just a bonus.

Dang, I guess that means party starter will be a 6 Month single. How unheard of is that these days.... especially for rappers. Oh well, at least we can all take a deep breath till then and hope for the best. Is the admin of the site still putting together a way for us to collectively help get the song on the radio? How are we all going to help the rollout be a success?

I'm still very optimistic that this album will go platinum. I'm not worried, and I don't really know why. I guess everyone else here is doing enough worrying for me. Remember, this album is great. They could release the next single in January and the single would still do good, and the album would have new buzz and sales. This is a good album, and a perfect second single, theres no need to worry.

Well I was never a big Will Smith fan until Lost and Found came out. It got me wanting to hear all of his old music though. I know from the sales history that Born to Reign was not too popular, but I just started listening to the album and I like it a whole lot. Probably my second favorite next to Lost and Found. I really like the "I can't stop" song as well. I don't know, to me, Born the Reign was a great album, even if it didn't go Gold in the US.

The only thing I really disliked about the radio edit was when will said"Get on the Floor" they had someone else say it real calm almost. It make the pause loose its effect a little.

Man oh man did Fat Joe fall on the charts fast. Hasn't it only been 3 weeks for his album?

I don't know if it will get No. 1. I think it will face some stiff competition from the new Gwen Stafani single Cool. Party Starter should certainly make the top 5, but I don't know if it will make No 1. Tell Me Why is the a likely No 1. hit though. What will make or break Party Starter as a No 1 single will be how fast it climbs the charts. There is no doubt in my mind that Switch was a No 1. single, but unfortunetly its slower growth on radio kept it climbing and staying on top for a long time. As one radio station played the song out, another was just getting Switch started. Either way I'll be happy. I'm just glad to hear Will on the radio again. :1-say-yes:

Sales look good to me. Its the 14th week of the album after all. Can't wait to see the Spike from Party Starter! :wiggle:
