  2. well I think both cases should have to be proved ..not disproved.. :pony: hmm :lolsign: okaay  well, I think the evidence both sides are presented is out there and people can make up their minds, the complexity thing is a main argument of the intelligent designers if not the key one and they argue it's proof.. i've got a good book that addresses the subject and it says about chance events producing life, such as protein molecules, the bulilding blocks of life, just randomly being formed: "evolutionists admit the probability of atoms and molecules falling into place to form just one simple protein molecule is 1 in 10^113 (1 followed by 113 zeros), more then the estimated number of atoms in the universe..it says that "mathematicians dismiss anything taking place that has a probobality of occurring of less then 1 in 10^50. But a lot more then one simple protein molecule is needed for life. Some 2000 different proteins are needed just for a cell to maintain it's activity, and the chance that all of them will occur at random is 1 in 10^40000" Quote from the Astronomer Fred Hoyle on this: "If one is not prejudiced either by social beliefs or by social training into the conviction that life originated (spontaneously) on the Earth, this simple calculation wipes the idea entirely out of court" I assume this is the type of thing the intelligent design proponents would be presenting..do you think this could be considerd evidence from a scientific perspective?
  3. The Vinyl Word: Jazzy Jeff back to his best By Jules Quartly STAFF REPORTER Friday, Oct 21, 2005,Page 15 DJ Jazzy Jeff will raise the roof at his house party tomorrow. He plays hip hop tonight, at Luxy. PHOTO COURTESY OF LUXY Some of us missed Jazzy Jeff when he played Taipei last November in the mistaken belief that he was more a media name than a musician. It was a bad call because his gig at Luxy was said to be one of the best ever held at the club since it opened two years ago this weekend. To help celebrate Luxy's second birthday party Jeff has added a diversion to Taipei to his current world tour and will play two nights, reprising his stellar hip-hop set tonight, with MC Skillz, and introducing his house music tomorrow. Jeff has already esta-blished his dance music credentials with last year's critically and popularly acclaimed album Jazzy Jeff In the House. Speaking from Bangkok, Jeff said of last year's Taipei gig that, "It was like a surprise to me. We just got off on the energy and had a real party with the crowd. We got the love." Considering Jeff's experience and success -- he started DJing as a 10 year old in the 1970s and met up with Will Smith to produce DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince's Rock the House in 1987 -- "The Vinyl Word" wanted to know what variables created a great party. "There's stuff you control and stuff you can't control. As for a good party, maybe people ain't been out for a long time. I don't deal with un-knowables, I just work at it and try to make it a special occasion by taking the crowd on a journey," Jeff said. "Enough people go to clubs every week and they get tired of hearing the same stuff. I want it to be the most musically exhausting night they have ever been to. You know, mix in some old ones [songs], some new, a few favorites and hit 'em with the remix live. I got a lot of tricks and tracks. I ain't gonna come 20,000 miles and play the same." Jeff said his least favorite country to DJ in right now was the US. "It's hard to get them going. It's like people in the US are close-minded, the media is in control and people only want to listen to what they've heard before. I mean, come on, there are a trillion good records out there. I guess the cycle goes round but at the moment the mainstream US hip-hop scene is kinda dry." Alan Hsia, formerly of 2nd Floor and a founder of Luxy, said the scene in Taipei is at a different stage and it's hip hop that has been bringing excitement over the past two years, rather than house music. "Musically, it's gone full circle, with hip hop, and now dance music waiting to be re-invented ... Two years ago, hip hop refreshed itself somehow, it broke through with mashups, commercial stars and movie tie-ups, so hip hop began a new cycle. Now dance is waiting to begin again." To bring back some excitement to the dancefloor Hsia held the Sweet party the previous week and has some big names on the list for next month, including Ken Ishii, Sasha, James Zabiela and Arman Van Buren. As for the best parties over the past two years at Luxy, Hsia picked out Johnny Fiasco, Naughty by Nature, Darren Emerson, Fresh on Wednesday ("It brought a whole dimension to the scene with a successful midweek night") and Jazzy Jeff -- who gets the last word. "People like Alan [Hsia] looked after us when we here last, and that's another variable for a good time. It makes you want to come back and party." Tickets for the show are NT$700 before 11pm, NT$900 after. Luxy is at 5F, 201, Zhongxiao E Rd, Sec 4, Taipei (¥x¥_¥«©¾§µªF¸ô¥|¬q201¸¹5¼Ó). Call (02) 2772 1000, or (0955) 904 600 for reservations (English service http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/feat/archi...0/21/2003276757
  4. If there going to put out logical arguments for it, like Maxfly was doing, then I'd be all for it being discussed, but it has to be substantive arguments not just this is not explainable presently therefore god exists.. The traditional arguments for the existence of God/creator figure is more based on "first cause" and other logic arguments, while scientific theory's based mainly on empirical measures the non-falsifiable hypothesis, i.e. somethings only scientific if it can be disproven..some scientists believe that intelligent cause is "non-falsifiable" and therefore unscientific, yet the intellgent design proponents are arguing otherwise, that it is testible and falsifiable..who do you believe? Personally I think that the life is too complex argument being put forward is scientific and skeptics would be able to prove otherwise if they are correct. I read recently that for life to have come about somehow the right chemicals would have had to come together in the right quantities, under the right pressure and other controlling factors, and all this would have had to be maintained for the exact length of time, and repeated thousands of times for life to have come about, which is mathematically impossible-thats what the theory states In my opinion scientists and others who dismiss intelligent design as a theory should not be scared of it and say it's non scientific but attempt to show that this is not the case, that such complexity can be attributed to evolution and other means..:stickpoke:

  14. I don't care what Kanye West does privately and most people don't, who cares if he looks at porn, im not trying to criticize him at all on that, what im saying is that hes' trying to use contraversial issues, especially religion and race as a tool of promoting himself and the album. It's just my opinion, I beleive in a lot of what he says, but I just think the circumstances and the way he voices his views are completely inappropriate. Okay 2 weeks ago or so, just about every website I visited had a picture or article clearly on Kanye West. Aol had an interview, just about every music site I visted had a major feature on Kanye West on their homepage. Why so? Was it because of the new album reviews, definately, but I have never seen such exposure in my life. Much of it was due to the enormous publicity the Hurricane comments triggered. IF this was an isolated thing that Kanye did, fine, but he seems to do it all the time, I have no problem with his views(more or less :shakehead: ): "Man made diseases placed in African communities"-fine, beleieve that, who knows On Saddam: "US gov gave him anthrax": I think thats what occured On US troops having shoot to kill orders: I agree with him that it's wrong and so on and so on, I agree with most of it, but using live events like the LiveAid concerts giving generalised satements like "george bush doesn't care about black people" is self serving. I don't like what he's doing, so what, im allowed to sat it! :paperbag:
  15. NEW YORK - Eminem's "Curtain Call" is just months away. The greatest-hits album, set for release Dec. 6, will include "My Name Is," "The Way I Am," "Lose Yourself" and "Stan," Interscope Records announced Tuesday. It also will include "at least two all-new, previously unavailable, so-fresh-from-the-studio-we-aren't-even-giving-you-the-song-title songs." Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, is putting the final touches on "Curtain Call," which he has been working on since early summer, according to the statement. In July, the 32-year-old rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, denied reports that he was preparing to retire from recording. The following month, it was announced that he had entered a hospital to undergo treatment for sleep medication dependency — days after canceling his European tour. For "Curtain Call," Eminem was quoted as saying: "I have some songs that a lot of people like. I have some songs that only I like. This album is obviously for the `lot' of people
  16. That's understandable, but you've drawn the conclusion that because you know people who don't live what they profess, "It's so fake church isn't nothing but mind control." It only means that the people you have observed may not be genuine or mature in their faith. It doesn't mean that church is fake or is a form of mind control. Also, I'm not sure what you mean when you refer to a "White Jesus." Are you criticizing the religion itself? There's a common perception that Jesus is white by European Chistians because they want him to look the way they look :damnyou: , while black Christians made representations of a black jesus to counter that, but none of them are true, the exact skin colour can never be known but he was likely olive skinned seeing as he was oriental, from the middle east.. I agree with a lot of SmoothB said, I wen't to church as a kid, and I don't think it made be any better of a person, in fact I despise a lot of religious people, and a lot of Christians because they are the biggest "Holy rollers" you have ever seen!..the only way the religion benefited me is when I read it myself, most Christianity is redundant today because it's the opposite of what the religion really is, for instance your not ment to mix religion with politics in christianity but supposed christian groups are deeply involved in politics-just check out the US Evangelicals :mygod: :nolachen: Organised religion, usually deviates from the truth significantly and it's not worth going to the majority of churches because their not Christianity On Kanye West: kanye west is everywhere, his starting to get more annoying then 50 cent..I think theirs more worthy things to be spending money on then $500 on porn, and for me it's not really a religious thing, it's being something that your not, I think that Kanye is the ultimate marketer, he's everywhere, it seems he just wants to be contraversial for the sake of being contraversial, I agree with a lot of what he says, heck perhaps 95% of it, radio doesn't want to play music with a message(Jesus walks), his views on George Bush(hell most people do)...but if you look at it most of his big statements recently are designed to make him look like a sort of reformer/leader and to prop up his albums sales..a lot of what he says is vague and generalized and used to shock, +it's contradictiory: Claims radio wont play a christian message-not really living up to christianity himself, and the discrimination against gays statement he did also seems to be another one of those tools he uses to portray himself as a trailbrazer, as a civil rights kind of a leader-yet the very views he's putting out contradict the very basis of the religion he upholds...It's always a case of "look at me look at me" with Kanye...It has nothing to do with religion
