  1. http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/n...rlin_smith_dc_5 hmmm... don't know what 2 say about this one
  2. when movies are announced it takes 6 to 12 months to get everything together..they dont just go straight into filming..so the focus on music in the next 6 months is still happening..and it doesnt matter when sony wanna do this movie..will wants to tour so it doesnt matter what they say well, when certain movies are announced and they don't have a rushed deadline that's true. But my dad used to work for Fox in the movie division and if a studio has a certain deadline, they start making it a year ahead. So for this movie, the studio wants it out maybe by Christmas. That means they have to at least start shooting real soon
  3. ^^^they do play it. Well, BET does at least. Maybe you're not watching it at the right time.
  4. when u think about it though, for those of u wanting a Will Smith tour for his music, this ain't good news for u. The studio wants it out by the Holiday season of next year (early 2006) and when the deal is finalized Will is gonna start shooting the film soon. I love him more as an actor than a rapper to be honest, so I'm looking forward to his movie than his CD. Just keepin it real with u guys
  5. making Will do something close to a Spidreman/Superman action movie is corny. It's one of the better movie scripts that haven't been made and it's more adult themed, so you're not gonna get a Spiderman type film
  6. new info-------- Will Smith Comes Tonight Source: Variety February 16, 2005 Columbia Pictures is negotiating to finance Tonight, He Comes as a vehicle for the studio's Hitch star Will Smith, reports Variety. Jonathan Mostow will direct the story of a superhero who crash-lands in Sheepshead Bay, N.Y., and causes chaos as he romances a local housewife in an attempt to revitalize himself. Written six years ago by Vincent Ngo, Tonight, He Comes has long been considered one of the better unmade scripts in town, says the trade. Michael Mann, who at one time was signed to direct, will produce the film with Akiva Goldsman. Vince Gilligan (The X-Files) has already done a rewrite and will script another draft under Mostow's supervision once the Columbia deal is finalized. A holiday 2006 release is being eyed. Mostow is developing several projects, including an untitled Paramount thriller he wrote, as well as Terminator 4.
  7. Will Smith dons cape for dark superhero drama LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Box office champ Will Smith is developing the superhero drama "Tonight He Comes," a project that has fallen on many executives' "best unproduced scripts" lists and attracted many A-listers. The dark, adult tone made it difficult to set up, however. The story tells the tale of a depressed, bored superhero who drinks, smokes and has one-night stands. He develops a newfound purpose in life when he is drawn to a married woman. Smith, currently No. 1 at the box office with the romantic comedy "Hitch," is teaming up with director Jonathan Mostow ("Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines") to bring the project to the big screen. They are in early negotiations with "Hitch" distributor Columbia Pictures. Reuters/Hollywood Reporter
  8. That's true. However I have to say the reason he cusses in movies is because he plays a character. In only a few of his movies does he cuss, but I'll admit he did cuss a great deal in Bad Boys II. oh no he cusses in real life. I've seen him cuss in interviews and behind the scenes stuff for his movies where he cusses freely. (for example:the making of Bad Boys 2 on MTV). He and Martin were cussin when the cameras were off. So what?? I'm not shocked at all. Doesn't make him any less of a man or a talented brother
  9. also request Will's song here! We need to get it out so more ppl hear it! http://www.thebeatla.com/Article.asp?id=44230
  10. U will all love me... lol here's the link to the videos shown on the Insider http://insider.tv.yahoo.com/celeb/2005/02/...owithwillsmith/ enjoy :)
  11. vote for Will on 106 and Park!! his video is up now for voting http://www.bet.com/Site%20Management/Polls...E-0FA99C23DD6C}
  12. 'Hitch' Scores Romantic Comedy Record by Brandon Gray February 13, 2005 Will Smith's first romantic comedy went off without a hitch at the box office. Hitch, starring Smith as a date doctor with love issues of his own, courted an estimated $45.3 million at 3,575 venues over the weekend, beating industry tracking and distributor Sony's expectations that it would do $35 million. It stands as the biggest romantic comedy opening ever, topping the $39.9 million Sony's own 50 First Dates posted last February. For further perspective, it's more than Oscar front runner Million Dollar Baby has made in its entire run thus far, and Hitch still has the busy Valentine's Day holiday on Monday that effectively gives it a four-day weekend. According to studio exit polling, 92 percent of moviegoers rated Hitch either "excellent" or "very good." The picture played across all demographics, with females making up 55 percent of the audience and an even split between those over and under the age of 25. Hitch propelled Smith's career opening weekend average in a leading role to $34.3 million—the highest of any actor. It also is his seventh picture to open at $45 million or more. The actor has achieved such heights mostly through expensive event pictures like Men in Black and I, Robot, but Hitch, where he is the primary selling point, is the truest test of his star power. The $70 million production also marks Smith's first attempt to headline a straight comedy, one based on human interaction and not involving aliens or robots or action buddies, like Martin Lawrence. The genre is a natural fit for Smith who has cultivated a wise-cracking, cocky persona since his rapper days, when he went by the Fresh Prince moniker. With Hitch, Smith served as a full-fledged producer for the first time on a movie he appeared in, through his Overbook Entertainment banner. The marketing campaign sent a clear, strong message that Hitch was a star vehicle and romantic comedy for everyone. The poster simply featured Smith leaning on the title, wearing a suit with an untucked, unbuttoned shirt, and the tagline "The Cure of the Common Man." Though movies about love are often (mistakenly) deemed the domain of women, guys identified with the plight of wooing that Hitch's trailer and ads comically emphasized. There was also plenty of interest for those not into romance—the marketing highlighted Smith's allergic reaction and his interactions with the overzealous Kevin James (TV's King of Queens) more than it did love interest Eva Mendes. A spokesman for Sony had high praise for Smith. "Having the romantic comedy and the buddy comedy elements—along with Will Smith's infectious charm—gave us a one-two punch that our marketing took full advantage of," Sony's senior vice president of media relations Steve Elzer told Box Office Mojo. "Will is just a man we all bow to." A staple of Smith's most successful movies is how he reacts to absurd or menacing situations through one-liners and facial movements—it's what has made people relate to him ever since his star-making turn in the over-the-top Independence Day in 1996. Instead of reacting to aliens or robots in Hitch, he reacts to a goofy, out-of-shape white guy who can't dance. more at this link: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=1708&p=.htm -------------------------------------------------
  13. just 2 let ya'll know Hitch made a strong 14 mil on Friday. It should increase more b/c of good Word of mouth and it's a saturday!

  16. here's a link. Just click where it says "watch after the show" http://www.oprah.com/tows/pastshows/200502..._20050207.jhtml
  17. Power 106 (a rap station) started playing the song! it was on "New at 2", it's the first time that I've heard it here in LA, so they should be playing it more soon
  18. plus normally ppl are too lazy to type stuff in to requst it. Once Switch gets one of those icon thingies, ppl will start voting more likely.
  19. it's most likely outta context. it kinda reminds me of the overseas media and the media in the uS taking a quote from Johnny Depp outta context. He said something about he's rather have his kids get marijuana from him then street drug dealers. That's how the articles read it but Johnny Depp cleared it up and said it was not how he said it. Most likely, the same is with Will's quote. People like to incite controversy and misquoting someone is the best way the media manipulates celebrities. Now that i think about it, Johnny Depp and Will are similar in their "quote controversies." They both said something against the US govt (sort of) and now this. hehe Jada doesn't seem like the kind of woman that would share Will either...
  20. yeah cuz Will and Jada have had no problems, they try to pick out anything they can. Eva seems to like Will's company though... haha but then again, what girl wouldn't?
  21. by Jeffrey K. Lyles I fully understand that this is supposed to be a movie review and not a relationship column, but ladies, it’s not that your man doesn’t enjoy going to the movies with you or even not checking out the latest action flick when it’s your turn to choose. It’s those accursed romantic comedies that more often than not drive us crazy. Most have these gorgeous, perfectly in shape male leads that have us guys looking like totally insensitive morons so you have to understand that you’ll really have to work to convince us to check out "Hitch," the latest (shudder) romantic comedy from Will Smith the weekend before Valentine’s Day. Talk about your no-win situation. But whatever you have to do, make sure you get him to see this "Hitch" as this is the kind of romantic comedy that even the most unromantic lout in your life will enjoy. Smith is Alex Hitchens, "Hitch" for short, who is a professional matchmaker for decent guys who either can’t work up the nerve or find the right opportunity to talk to the woman of their dreams. It’s a commendable goal and from the look of Hitch’s posh New York apartment, business is good. Hitch has perhaps his greatest challenge on his hands when a shy, awkward accountant Albert (Kevin James) hires him to help him woo billionaire heiress Allegra Cole (Amber Valletta, "Raising Helen"). The casting of James is a risky one. Feature him in too many slapstick scenes and the film just ends up being an extension of his sitcom "The King of Queens." Having been at the helm of a number of romantic films including "Anna and the King," "Ever After" and his most recent, "Sweet Home Alabama" Director Andy Tennant once again realizes the potential he had in the 1997 underrated romantic comedy "Fools Rush In." Instead of going too overboard with situations that would never happen in real life, Tennant crafts funny moments that are believable with the participants just seeming to have really bad luck. Tennant uses James perfectly though and lets him play the goofy, uncoordinated klutz just long enough to get the right amount of laughs before Albert becomes a stale one-note joke. Smith and James have ideal comedic timing and play off one another well. James isn’t exactly a revelation as his sitcom is entertaining, but the challenge for TV stars is remaining funny beyond their normal 30-minute window. James proves he could be a leading man in his own comedy instead of the sidekick character so his next project, "Grilled" could be worth keeping an eye on. Instead of playing "Hitch" as a modern interpretation of Cyrano de Bergerac, screenwriter Kevin Bisch has Hitch fall for tabloid writer/romantic cynic Sarah (Eva Mendes, "Stuck on You") who is trying to do an expose on the mysterious Date Doctor. After an impressive request for a date (this would probably be the appropriate point in the film to take notes, guys), Sarah relents and the two begin a relationship they both feel is too good to be true. But what’s a romantic comedy without a little "hitch" in the pursuit of true love? Sarah decides she wants to learn more about Hitch and his connection to the Date Doctor and her reporter instincts may jeopardize her burgeoning relationship. Smith and Mendes make for a convincing on-screen couple and have good chemistry, a requisite in these romantic comedies. In a comedy with Smith and James, it’s quite the surprise that Mendes is just as funny and gets some great lines. My major complaint is the lack of screen time for the very talented Michael Rapaport (TV’s "Boston Public") who is underutilized as Hitch’s married best friend, Ben. The contrast between the ladies’ man and his married pal seemed like it had the potential for some funny moments that will likely be used in the eventual DVD’s deleted scene segment. A lot of the film’s best jokes are in the trailers but for a change the whole thing isn’t spoiled entirely so the scenes still get a laugh even though you’ve seen many of the setups and payoffs to the jokes. It’s the little things that make a romantic comedy work and all those elements come together including one of those "lean back and mellow out to" soundtracks. "Hitch" has a great cast, good script and is an actual smart romantic comedy with none of the typical "I can’t believe they thought people would like this" eye-rolling moments. If you’re looking for a great way to kick off your Valentine’s Day weekend, make sure you check out "Hitch."
  22. http://www.hellomagazine.com/film/2005/02/...illsmithandeva/ another article about the premier...
  23. u guys this isn't about legacy. It's about now. I don't think Eminem should be anywhere near as popular as he is, but that's life. Ted said that if Eminem goes after Will, legends will defend him. Will they really? I know Will is respected by the originals in the rap game, but when Eminem went after Will with that dumb line in the Real Slim Shady, no one said anything to come to his defense. Maybe one or two ppl I may have missed. But the saddest part of all is that i know most of the rappers out there probably hate Eminem or don't like his music, yet they kiss his ass. I commend Will for having enuff balls to go after Eminem unlike most rappers out there, But i still don' think it's necessary. The public has responded in sales and i don't want Eminem (possibly) hurting Will's image in rap. All the ignorant b-boy wannabes are gonna ride with Eminem. And that's a huge population out there. I'm tired of ppl saying Will is wack just b/c Eminem said so. That's why, i think Will should just leave it. It's over, and we don't need a new thing to bring more attention to Eminem. If u want him to lose popularity, better to leave him out of the picture. Otherwise, he'll heep comin back.
  24. 50 and Will seem to get along okay so far... http://www.filmmagic.com/SearchResult.aspx...8502&navtyp=SRH
  25. I personally never heard them say one nice thing about Will, I personally don't think Will should be afraid of dissin' Eminem, all Eminem would do is prove how immature he is by making a diss song cursin' every 5 seconds, and Will would have too many punchlines for Eminem to come back with a relevant diss, I think it'd be great if Will could knock Eminem out of popularity for many reasons, the main one would be that true mcs like Talib Kweli could start getting some better sales, KRS-ONE dissed Nelly bad a couple years ago but KRS-ONE's not a popular mc so Nelly's still survivin' but if Will dissed Eminem as bad, Eminem's popularity won't be standing anymore 'cause Will's power of being a household name would help. :ali: Eminem thinks he could go around and diss everyone like he's some sort of musical god that can't be stopped, he's egotistical, what gives him the right to diss legends like Will Smith and Michael Jackson? :nhawong: Somebody has to put Eminem in his place 'cause he doesn't deserve to be so popular acting so disrespectful, you gotta respect the cats that paved the way for you! okay, maybe u haven't but G-Unit has done nothing to diss him. They could easily diss him to try and keep their thug image but they haven't. Sorry but most of ya'll seem to be living in a fantasy world. As much as You and I would LOVE to have Eminem drop out, he has TONS of fans. He's still in the top 5 on billboard. We don't like that but it's reality. Majority of people don't know real rap, I'm afraid that ignorant rap ppl will flock to Eminem's side. I doubt this is true though, i'm not that excited about it, plus, Eminem will most likely not respond anymore since his status with blacks aren't too good after the racist tapes. Eminem hasn't responded to the diss song Benzino has come out with recently, and of course if he goes after Will (who blacks love and are proud of) he will get massacred by his black fans or blacks in general. Still, I'm stating the truth and the truth hurts. Eminem and G-Unit ARE THE MOST POPULAR IN THE RAP GAME AT THIS MOMENT WHETHER U LIKE IT OR NOT. Got it?? Not saying u or I gotta like it, but that is the harsh truth.
