  1. Ah, so it wasn't REALLY a "performance." It was just him hyping the crowed up. Oh well, the energy was tight and it shows that music is very much in the front of his brain.
  2. I had a show last night and couldn't catch the show. Thank God for YouTube and thank God they'll rerun it in a week or so. I can' t wait to see the full performance. Even with that shortly clip, you can see FP had crazy energy, tho' the beat was a little interesting. My interest is definitely sparked.
  3. Yeah, I'm still going to Jim's house to egg it. I think it's funny how Tim replaced Will's name with Jim's...lol.
  4. Once I saw the title of the post, I knew it was an April Fools joke. Jim wrote an article like this a few years ago...identical in some ways. And the parts that are quoted don't really sound like FP...lol. But if I didn't know it was fake, I would have been probably too excited to notice! Someone needs to find Jim's article from years ago. I'd like to see what fake news the people on this board can come up with. Feel free to make it as ridiculous as you want.
  5. Yeah, I went out to WalMart that night so I could pick it up up. I remember just being totally hyped about that album and playing it non-stop. Last night I celebrated by watching the 2005 JJ+FP set on DVD. Everything looked like it was gonna last for awhile but the steam steadily declined after after "Switch" ran its course. It's easily one of the best Hip-Hop albums of that era and even those he's "WILL SMITH," that album didn't stick as long as we wanted. The performances were dope and only God knows why he didn't continue making music for often. Everything about that album said "I'm back to making music regularly and I'm back to staying try to myself rather than letting labels sway me." It was a long time comin,' but it's great to know he's back at music. Here's a pic from the night I picked up L+F...
  6. How long is "awhile"? A few days? A week? 2 weeks? I may not post like crazy because how busy I am but but I'm visiting the board multiples times everyday. With MIB3 starting to kick into high gear, I hope it's not long.
  7. WC + JON B - Better Days (CD Single) (1998) This makes me miss the late 90's BAD.
  8. I don't like half of the Top 40 stuff that gets played, but this doesn't even feel like a hit. It's weird, forced, and random. It'll be interesting to see if it's a hit. It just seems that if FP didn't do the track, no one should. Are they even doing a proper soundtrack, it's not clear.
  9. I always wondered the same thing. He only had moderate success but with 2 studio albums and that success, I was surprised he was able to be on it. I'm glad he's gotten more attention through the show though. I like the new album but not as much as his previous 2. TONI BRAXTON - I Heart You Gemstone (2012) She's back!! I can never get enough of Toni.
  10. TOBYMAC - Boomin' (UTB Remix) Dubbed + Fre'q: A Remix Project (2012) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOj_KDfUFDg&feature=relmfu I usually like his remix albums but this one is a bit bland...just Trip-Hop and Club mixes. This is probably my fav remix on it and I already had it off a special edition.
  11. As is the case with most rappers (other than Kanye and Nas), Pitbull seems like a nice, humble guy. While I don't like his sound, you think that would trickle into his music some. I don't listen to him but I can say that the music I have heard from him doesn't represent that. I respect the experimental sound of the song but it doesn't look like the video has anything to do with MIB. Other than movie clips being mixed in and the black suit, that might be it.
  12. JAVIER - Drop In The Ocean Come Through For You (2011) It's so good to see him getting shine. A few of us on the board have been following him since 2003 when he 1st came out. The Ron Pop song he is singing in this video came out in 2008 and instantly became one of my fav acoustic songs ever. He totally does it justice!
  13. Thanx for posting that. Even tho' I don't like his music and have yet to get a feel for his personality from his music (which shows its irrellevant), but at least he's giving the Fresh Prince props. But so does everyone else... That last part about "WE'RE working on the music for the movie" is weird. I can't say I want to hear them do music together but it sounds like SOMETHING is happening.
  14. WICKED EVOLUTION - Leave It Behind ? (2012) I like the direction she's taking a lot.
  15. Based on the comment above, I'm not going to peep this out until I have time...lol.
  16. BOYZ II MEN + COMMITTED - Motownphilly (Live Acapella) (2011) U can download this on Amazon. I love it!!!
  17. If you record someone vomiting, slow it down, and stretch it out to take up just over 3 minutes of time, you get this song. SOMEONE NEEDS TO REMIX "MEN IN BLACK" for 2012 AND USE THAT AS A SINGLE!!
  18. HA! That's awesome. I'm sure if a mic was set up, he would have grabbed it.
  19. COMMITTED - That's When I'll Get Over You (self-titled) (2011) Top 40 fans...Let me introduce you to singing.
  20. That's essentially what The Source '97 issue says...coming straight from the 'Prince's mouth.
  21. It's a little late in the game....but should we start a petition that a Will Smith or JJ+FP track be released on the new MIB soundtrack?
  22. Let me react a little differently from the rest of the board. ...but only a little. I'm not so worried about FP not doing an MIB song. I mean, what else can be said lyrically about the MIB movie that isn't overdone? I feel that ANOTHER MIB song would be lyrically boring. I don't follow Jaden's and Willow's music closely, but this would have probably been a good outlet for them. Unfortunately, Pitbull's music is tired and annoying. I'm most upset that he has the lead single rather than the fact that it's not FP. I hope they have a legit soundtrack (like the 1st movie). Since the 2nd movie didn't have a proper soundtrack, a lot of us were disappointed. If they do a true soundtrack, there would be hope for a regular Fresh Prince track...which would make me 100 times happier than any MIB song could.
  23. Yeah, reading his interviews are awful too and they even select the best parts to publish...lol. I like a good bit of his music so I'm not dissing him, but man...
  24. I don't know if it's worth sticking with...but it's worth skipping to the 3 minute mark...lol. Thanx for sharing!!
  25. I gotta say that I agree with Rebirth. There's just a lack of energy in the delivery which also comes off as if you are simply reciting it rather than having any passion behind what you are saying. Guru and Method Man have monotone flows as well but they do attack the lines and you can hear that what they are saying is coming from within. Additionally, find levels. I associate this with singing...singers will not belt and entire song, but find places where they are more into the song and where they truly let loose. It would be weird if they did that through the entire song. I would look at a rhyme and see where the subject matter calls for a climax and establish where the levels should be for each bar. Eminem SOMETIMES does this right. Lastly, I think writing to a beat will help. There's moments where there's a rhythmic flow but mostly it just sounds so free. Whether it's rap or spoken word, there's a flow that organizes the vocals. Another thing is that you have the HUGE knowledge of Hip-Hop music, which is amazing. I feel that most of the time, it's being used in a "name dropping" fashion. You are simply referencing artists or songs for the sake of doing so. By doing it in that fashion, it's simply dead weight to the topic. It's filling space but it's not really going anywhere. I feel that if it isn't multi-leveled metaphor that is taking the subject matter further, it's probably best not to do it. I was listening to Common Sense's latest yesterday and he has some really great examples on that album. I don't write or rhyme any more (at least for now) so I don't wanna come off as negative. One thing is for sure, between all the performing events I take part in an attend, I can usually watching some thing and give notes to almost anyone to tighten things up. Silly as it sounds, I can only do that for myself about half the time. However, if I see a video of myself performing, I tear it to pieces, tell myself I suck and that I should quit...lol. I felt there was a slight improvement on the 2nd recording so I'm looking forward to seeing where things go.
