MERNA (AYAH) - THE CALLING
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
For those who are interested in checking it out, her album recently dropped. Her vocals soar. The production is soulful, yet a little experimental. I haven't gotten the album yet, but based on the preview, I can live without it for a little while. I prefer her work with Jeff. http://www.amazon.com/Calling-Merna/dp/B00OR24VFW/ref=sr_1_1?s=dmusic&ie=UTF8&qid=1416248904&sr=1-1&keywords=merna- 3 replies

SHADY RECORDS - CXVPHER (2014) http://www.vevo.com/watch/eminem/Vevo-Presents-Shady-CXVPHER/USUV71402764 Lyrics, lyrics, lyrics. I must say, I wanted Royce and Joe Budden to come harder.

MC Lyte has dropped songs here and there over the years, and I'm hoping an album is on the way, but I wanted to share her new one. The sound isn't what I was expecting, but the energy and flava of the song is so nice that I'm not mad at it at all. Plus, Lil' Mama is stepping her game up.

Alfonso in 'Dancing With The Stars'
JumpinJack AJ replied to Ale's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Here's an alternate pic... The Cast Of ‘Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air’ Reunites On ‘Dancing With The Stars’ [PHOTO] Nov 11, 2014 By Danielle Young, Lifestyle Editor OMG! We totally hoped this would happen, considering Alfonso Ribeiro’s stellar performances on “Dancing With the Stars” every week: The Banks family reunited! Ribeiro’s on-screen siblings Karyn Parsons (Hilary Banks) and Tatyana Ali (Ashley Banks) showed up to support him on his journey on the show and they even brought Joseph Marcell, who played the Banks family’s beloved British butler and voice of reason, Geoffrey. Ribeiro told Us Weekly it was “really cool” to have his longtime friends there to watch him perform Monday night. “Joe’s [in] all the way from England,” he told Us Weekly. “Just having [all of] them here was wonderful. They’re family to me. They’ll always be family.” Ribeiro keeps in touch with most of his former TV family members. He told Us Weekly that he and Will Smith, the show’s main character, talk all the time. “We all have such love for each other. Will actually rapped a birthday wish to [my wife] while we were all in Trinidad at Carnival for her birthday! He flew into Trinidad and hung out with us and we had a party and he got up and did a birthday rap for her. That’s the kind of stuff we do for each other and it’s just love — and that love is forever.” Yes they all still get together, but don’t get your hopes up for a televised reunion. Ribeiro says, “I don’t think it would happen simply because we’ve lost James [Avery]. When James passed, he was the heart and the center of the show. I believe, for us, it was something we enjoyed in the past and we’ll let it stay there.” Ribeiro, who played the dancing, but mostly stick-in-the-mud Carlton Banks has been killing the competition on the dancing show. He is one of five of the last contestants and his stance shocks him. But it shouldn’t. http://hellobeautiful.com/2014/11/11/the-cast-of-fresh-prince-of-bel-air-reunites-on-dancing-with-the-stars/ -
Tupac Shakur's Foundation Is Gifting Us With New Music Soon Stacy-Ann Ellis Posted November 10, 2014 Even many years after his passing Tupac and his camp are making an impact on society. The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation, founded in 1997 by his mom Afeni Shakur, is promising new tunes in the name of charity. Before you start thinking along the lines of an all-Pac-everything album, the promised new single—which will be available on 2pac.com for $.99—primarily features several hip hop stars and all sale proceeds will benefit the maintenance of the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Kamil “Muszamil” Beale and Dame Grease are working with the foundation to not only push the single, but create a bonus mixtape with guest rappers for fans that download the song. I heard this months ago...it's so good. The crazy thing is that Heavy D recorded a TON of Hip-Hop music between 2004 up until he started the reggae project. I've heard some of the songs and they are flawless. He also did a tone of remixes with artists like Brian McKnight that are hard to find or were never released. I wish they'd get that out. It's better than the work on his final album.

Heavy D was the coolest brother in Hip-Hop. He was incredibly versatile and multi-talented. There isn't anyone who didn't know Heavy D who didn't love him. He was one of my top favorite emcees ever since I was 11. His absence is felt constantly.

T-PAIN SINGING WITHOUT AUTOTUNE
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Caught in the Middle
Whoa, I just hear the new T-Pain track and had to share it. I wanna say I lied T-Pain when he first came out. Around the time of this second album I started to view him as an artist who will make some catchy songs that I'd like, but nothing I'd take too serious due to the common subject matter and hit or miss production. However, his new song is DOPE. He's rapping without autotune and the lyrics are flawless. He was an emcee before he started singing and then using autotune, so this is kinda him taking things full circle. Even if you don't like him, I urge you to give this song a listen... http://www.audiomack.com/song/listenhiphopnow/t-pain-stoicville -

LL Cool J To Release New CD "GOAT 2"
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
He dropped another one called "You Already." His flow is tight, but the subject matter is stale, and while the production isn't bad, it's not really Hip-Hop...it's today's commercial urban sound. The guest artist adds nothing to the track. New Music: LL Cool J f/ Troy Ave – ‘You Already’ As he gears up for his album G.O.A.T. 2, LL Cool J keeps turning out songs for the streets. The hip-hop icon links with fellow New Yorker Troy Ave for “You Already.” LL declares himself the “new king of New York,” while Troy revives LL’s 1996 classic “Doin’ It” on the hook. LL has been working with Mavado, Murda Mook, Raekwon, and Jerry Wonda on the sequel to his 2000 album. “This album is mainly for the ni**as, it’s gritty,” he said. “This one is not for the ladies.” Earlier in the week, he dropped another song called “Break Your Face.” Listen to both tracks below. -
LL Cool J To Release New CD "GOAT 2"
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
I don't mind the experimenting, I just don't like that it's so drastic and straying from his traditional sound. The vibe and sound of the album has already strayed so far from the original, that it's not worthy of being a sequel album. -

Unfortunately the next song isn't that good. I like the energy, but the production is a tad empty to me. -
Her Iggy Azalea Is Not Hip Hop Statement; Discusses Possibly Recording With Other Female Rappers November 3, 2014 by Yohance Kyles (@HUEYmixwitRILEY) (AllHipHop News) Earlier this year former Flipmode Squad emcee Rah Digga was not shy in sharing her feelings about Iggy Azalea. In September, Rah expressed that she did not consider Iggy Hip Hop and took issue with the Australian’s vocal style being similar to American rappers from the South. [ALSO READ: Rah Digga Says Iggy Azalea Is Not Real & Not Hip Hop (VIDEO)] Rah was asked about the “Fancy” performer and the culture in general during a recent interview with BET. This time the Newark, New Jersey native elaborated on her thoughts about what is “real Hip Hop.” Digga said: I don’t think that there’s one real sound that is real hip hop. I mean, that’s like a conundrum, you know. Like there’s no definite answer to what’s real hip hop. But I do feel that today, music business and hip hop culture are dramatically confused. And I say that because there are fundamentals that hip hop purists live and die by, whereas those same fundamentals don’t really apply in music business. Like music business will tell you, ‘Oh, it’s OK if you don’t write. All you gotta do is have a look and a catchy beat and a hook.’ And things like that. But hip hop has a different set of rules. Hip hop says, ‘No, you’re supposed to write your own rhymes. You’re supposed to be authentic, you’re supposed to be original.’ Now, I wouldn’t say because you participate in the music business, you’re not hip hop. But when the music business starts anointing people with titles and giving people these hip hop accolades, you can’t be alarmed when the hip hop community has questions. … Hip hop isn’t about record sales and charting — that’s music business. Hip hop is about being the best lyricist and being true to yourself. In part 2 of the conversation, Rah commented on whether she would be interested in creating music with Iggy as well as Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma. Digga said: I mean, I would never say ‘never.’ I think me and Remy are very similar in terms of our street cadence. As far as Nicki and Iggy… musically, it would just have to make sense. … We usually have to be friends before we do songs, like we’ve broken bread or we’ve had some kind of vibing session. I rarely do songs with people I don’t know or never met before. Remy, I know. I’ve never met Nicki or Iggy personally, so I wouldn’t just have my handlers call their handlers out-of-the-blue and say, ‘Hey, you want to do a record?’ We would have to gel organically first, and then if that opportunity presented itself… [shrugs].”

10th Prince, you are entitled to your opinion, but is there really a point in sharing it when the sole purpose is to bring someone down? It wasn't constructive. It wasn't tactful. It wasn't intelligent. It was an insult and nothing more. Sharing something on this forum is sharing something with a smaller community. It's not like putting out there in a manner where the masses are going to jump in and pick it apart. Movin' on... JESSIE J - Ain't Been Done Sweet Talker (2014)

T-PAIN SINGING WITHOUT AUTOTUNE
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Caught in the Middle
Of course he's no Luther or Michael, but he is good. I've heard him sing without auto-tune in interviews, but I think this is the first time he's actually performed that way. -
Original 1986 LP and/or CD of Rock The House...
JumpinJack AJ replied to Vipa's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Every once in awhile I remind myself that I still want the white cover version, but then I forget. It never dawned on me that it might be slightly different like the red covered and 1988 version are. You're right though, the vinyl versions aren't too difficult to come by. -
T-Pain Singing Some Of His Biggest Records Without Auto-Tune Will Probably Blow Your Mind T-Pain made auto-tune more than a studio tool, he made it an era. What happens when he’s without it? The answer is above, but we’re sure you’ve heard by now that the answer is awesomeness. With his good friend and keyboard player providing the only instrumentation, T-Pain took to NPR‘s Tiny Desk to perform 2 of his most popular records, “Buy U A Drank,” and “Up, Down,” and his newest single, “Drankn’ Patna.” He sang all three into a non-auto-tune-laden microphone, and even joked that should everything go wrong, he has some [auto-tune] in his pocket. Never fear, Teddy didn’t need it. For those that didn’t know the certified hit-maker was already a talented vocalist despite his affinity for adjusting his vocals, the above video clip will more than likely blow you away–especially the part where he turns “Up, Down,” which is by definition a rap song, into something gospel-y. Enjoy. Pain’s upcoming album, Stoicville: The Phoenix, which will feature “Up Down,” “Drankin’ Patna” and more, is due out next year.

Daniel Radcliffe Raps Blackalicious' "Alphabet Aerobics"
JumpinJack AJ replied to Ale's topic in Caught in the Middle
I'm not a Daniel Radcliffe fan, but I give him props for handling (and knowing) the song. There's many songs out there where emcees have raced the rhyme faster than that though. Busta Rhymes, Da Brat, Mystical, etc... -
Original 1986 LP and/or CD of Rock The House...
JumpinJack AJ replied to Vipa's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Your best bet is Ebay. Amazon and Half don't have a separate listing, so you never know which version of Rock The House it is. The 1988 version is rather easy to find, but the 1987 versions are considerably hard. The one with the mostly white cover is the 2nd easiest one to find. The one with the red background cover is the hardest, especially if you want the CD version. I forget who it was, but someone on this board gave me the heads up about the red background version being on Ebay in CD form (I already had the vinyl for years). Since I have virtually everything, I've stopped looking, but I'll keep an eye open for it. Unfortunately everyone has gravitated to the main used-music selling websites, so there's less and less gems found on those lesser known music sites. -
RAH-DIGGA - Thinking Out Loud (Six Deep Freestyle) (2014) Well, in two minutes she said more relevant stuff than Lil' Kim, Icky Minaj, and Iggy Azalea put in all of their music if you add it all together.
