1. Yeah, i definitly would NOT wanna see Will on SNL. I think he'd do a great job....but the shows hasn't really been funny in decades. In the mid-90's, they had a cast that waz able 2 make un-funny stuff kinda funny, but now there's nothing funny on it at all.
2. Yeah, it sets the album up for great things and controversial subject matter...and then NONE of the songs sound like it or have any subject matter that play off it.
3. I don't know if this waz the song that waz linked 2 this board awhile ago, but i just got it and i love it. I waz CD diggin' in B-more 2day and found a Jive Records promo sampler that waz just recently put out called "Jive's Still Rollin' 'Em Phat: 2004 Sampler." Track 3 is a new A Tribe Called Quest + Erykah Badu track called "I C U (Doin' It)" which is going 2 be on the next Violator album entitled "V3: The Good, The Bad, + The Ugly." The song is slightly up beat Hip-Hop joint that strongly sounds like a b-side from 1998's (their "last" album "The Love Movement." It sounds like a watered down "Find My Way"...which isn't totally bad cuz it's still a good song and not 2 mention a new song from ATCQ. Erykah Badu's hook is just her saying the same thing over and over again but a nice touch 2 the song none the less. This track dosen't break any new ground, but compared 2 what's been getting air play the past year, this is dope. It's just nice 2 hear Q-Tip and Phife on the same track with the Ummah sound under them.
4. I think the new track is good...but nothing special. Here 1st album waz great and her 2nd is one of the best R-N-B albums of all time. Full Moon waz good, but most of it didn't keep my attention. Hopefully this new one will take us back 2 1998's Never Say Never.
5. I'm all about 50 Cent doing good and havning heart...but if that's so, why dosen't he keep it real and put that in his music. There's nothing cool about worshiping sex, drugs, and alcohol. If u have something 2 say that will benifit society, then do it. Don't drag down the morale of the music just 2 make money. Latifah might be caught with a bag, but she' not putting it in her music like "smoke this....i do and if u do it'll make u cool 2" fashion like most rappers do. Latiah has alot of good messages and alot of real messages in her music. That's what music is about. She got carjacked which scared her 2 death which lead 2 her carrying a gun. When Latiah got caught with that gun in her ride, it waz becuz alot of people in Hip-Hop were caught up in events where alot them started carrying. Just ask Naughty By Nature, Gang Starr, 2Pac, Nas, etc. Nas of course got dissed in the mid-90's cuz when he caught knocked, he blamed it on what happened 2 Queen Latifah. I don't agree with guns at all, but i know where they were coming from. My point is, make your music real....and if u can make it worth listening 2, that's always a plus as well. I don't wanna hear about some rappers sex life or what pathetic addictions they have.
6. I'm thinkin' his kinda mockin' him...but not in an upfront way. We've heard Will's aggresive flow b4...but "Born To Reign"'s flow is very much like Eminem "I Am" (or whatever that track off his 2nd album is). If u listen 2 the track, he talks about rappers who preach poison and who talk about fake lifestyles in their music....and jacks Em's flow....hmmmmm. While this song attacks most mainstream rappers...there just may be a connection 2 that and the fact that he uses a similar flow 2 Eminem and his track that he released as a single. Or we could be looking 2 hard, but u don't have 2 look hard 4 this connection.
7. I don't have a preference...i'm not a big fan of his. His music with 2Pac isn't really well known and there isn't alot of the pre-Bad Boy stuff out. Him and 2Pac only did like 3 or 4 songs 2gether and when u find them, they are often doctored (remixed and with added vocals) so there isn't really a good way 2 judge his pre-Bad Boy library.
8. The Beastie Boys have experemented in their music. I'm not a big fan of theirs and i even know that. This new track just seems like a return 2 what got them on the map. I'm so happy a track like this is getting play...cuz it's the "regulars" on the radio that aren't doing anything original or experimental in their music. This puts a shot in the arm of all those wack, non-creative losers in the top 10 right now. I agree with Tim on the "sometimes simple is better" comment. Maybe the reason u don't like the song is simply cuz u don't understand it.
9. I think u are referring 2 Where The Day Takes You. I love Made In America!! Good movie and Will is hilarious in it.
10. I'm still all 4 it. There's no good reason not 2 if that's the path he desides 2 take. These days, if u can't order something online, then there's a good chance u don't have internet access...which means u probably wouldn't even know about the album. For those who might have trouble ordering it, i'm sure a few of us would help those people get their hands on a copy. And location dosen't really effect anything except it would take about 4 days longer 2 come.
11. Yeah, "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" is one of the best party joints...but i would never call it one of the "best" trax he's done since his comeback. When i saw that post, i almost said the same thing...but didn't cuz we are all entitled 2 our own opinion.
12. I don't think i've even seen any other episodes w/ the full music video in the beginning...just the 1st one. They definitly edited it down cuz the full version is just 2 long for a TV show. I've always wanted 2 have the edited down version tho' since that's the version i've heard litereally thousands of times.
13. 2 prove my point further, i just watched MTV's Pimp My Ride w/ Xzibit (which i never watched b4 until 2day). X 2 da Z has the street rapper thing going on w/ a dash of gangsta and a dash of real Hip-Hop. All that street waz gone on the show, he's one goofy, smilin' guy...ha ha. Just shows how much mainstream Rap is all about image and not about being real. That's why admire peeps like Fresh Prince, L.L. Cool J, Queen Latifah, etc. They are good, down 2 earth people and they are the same people on and off stage.
14. Yep! Jeff said they were gonna do that all summer.
15. Yeah, they some real gangstas. Ignorant people with recod deals is more like it.
16. Ha ha...this board is supposed 2 be devoted 2 the site, message boards, and stret teaming JJ+FP project...but oh well. I wazn't a big fan of Biggie's. When he waz riding with Pac, he had a rougher flow with a dash of 2Pac's thug life flava. Puffy made him mainstream, made him more laidback, and all about the jiggy lifestyle (which is why i found it hard 2 take alot of his music serious). When B.I.G. waz large, i wazn't a fan of his at all, in fact, i couldn't stand him. But as i look back and listen 2 the old music (and see the current trash on the airwaves), i definitly like some of his stuff more these days.
17. The 1st episode has ALWAYS had the full music video for "Yo! Home To Bel-Air" in front of it. But that's still very cool.
18. I waz never a big fan of theirs but they definitly have some good trax. I didn't like the mid-90's stuff where they got deep in a alternative and rock music...BUT I LOVE THEIR NEW SONG. Their music isn't 4 everyone. Like Macy Gray...some people say she's dope and some people say she dosen't deserve a record deal. Not everybody is gonna like ANY artist. The bottom line is, they are definitly stirring up the Hip-Hop scene. Compared 2 most of the people getting airplay, the Beatie Boys are kicking butt...if they can take one play away from the average wack Ludacris or Eminem song, more power 2 them.
19. We expect the album 2 hit stores...but Will talked about releasing it on the internet 1st...then 2 stores. Will is definitly about being available 2 the fans. He wouldn't put out and album that only a certain amount of his fans could access (unless he dosen't wanna be a mainstream artist). We want the album NOW...so he needs 2 make it available 2 us now. The album can hit stores later. Besides, usually when artists do something like that, the internet buyers usually get some kinda bonus from getting it in advance straight from the artist.
20. If the movie is good and gets decent success, then it looks like Will will be getting paid for years 2 come...ha ha. Of course if the sequel scripts are wack, he won't have anything 2 do with it.
21. Yeah, that's what i waz saying a few posts up. Who would just wanna download it?!
22. That dose suck 4 those who use their computers 2 only listen 2 music. I think it's a great idea. The internet has ruined the music industry more than it has helped it. Think about it...as the internet got more popular and as more music waz put online, the greedier and more money-driven the industry has got. There are just way 2 many people who are ripping off artists and record labels so i totally have no problem with the computer-proof CDs.
23.
I also got B2R from the same shopas an import 9 days b4 it was released in the UK, at the time i thought i was so lucky, but i could have just waited 9 days lol.
That's really cool. I got Big Willie Style 2 days b4 it waz released...i waz so happy.
24. I don't care what he dose, i just want some music soon. I wouldn't want it downloadable. If he releases it on the internet, make it purchased on the internet and have the CD get mailed 2 the fans. They can also make it so that it can't be copied/read by computers. I have a few CDs like that (which dosen't matter cuz i use my external CD burner, which has nothing 2 do with computers more). I'm sure that would slow down it getting leaked on the internet. The sales would also be more private so that alot fewer people would even be thinkin' about putting on the internet.
