Details were unavailable at press time about the rapper's condition and when the incident occurred. Hot 97's News Director Miss Info reported that Guru is currently in a New York-area hospital where he's expected to undergo surgery. Gang Starr's DJ Premier was scheduled to appear on Sirius XM's Hip-Hop Nation satellite radio station late Sunday night to speak about Guru's condition. At press time the status of that interview was unclear, but according to the producer's blog, the sensitivity of the situation prevented him from speaking publicly. One of his publicists issued a statement calling for fans to pray for him. "Like you, I'm praying that he makes it through," says the publicist. Let's try not to entertain the rumors. Instead, keep Guru in your prayers, and encourage everyone to think positively so that our collective energy will help him through!!!" The latest on Guru's health is that he went through a life-saving surgery. Via a statement, Guru told fans he is weak from the operation. "I am doing fine and I am recovering! I'm weak though," Guru said today. "Solar is the only person who has the accurate info on my situation. Any info from anybody else is false! I appreciate your well wishes and all the love!" Guru and his family are asking for privacy as he recovers and stressed for fans to continue to send prayers, thoughts and love. Previously, Guru's partner DJ Premier kept fans updated through is twitter this week. "Don't believe rumours, pray people, pray!! #guru," he wrote Monday (March 1) night.
