  1. I believe that the removal of "If You Can't Dance" and the addition of "Coming to the Stage" would have made the album better... I don't think that Wave 'Em Off is as bad as some people make it out to be, and if there is a track on the album that it is better than, I think it is If You Can't Dance, regardless of what track it was based on. The beat isn't that good, and the lyrics really aren't that good. Was Will contrained by Roxanne, Roxanne... most likely, but that still doesn't make the track good. Incidentally, if people are truly serious in saying that they want Will to gain more respect in hip hop circles, are truly annoyed about black entertainment establishments not playing his music and are not just complaining for complaining's sake, I suggest you slowly back away from any advocacy of If You Can't Dance as a single or having a music video.
  2. Ok... ok... I have one question before I move along... Ted, if Will had recorded Go and Common had recorded If You Can't Dance, and they were exactly the same, you would say that Common's If You Can't Dance is better than Will's Go right...
  3. :whatthelerkot: Tim... lol.... whatthelerkot???? Hahahaha
  4. I don't know about that 'cause I think "Go!" is kinda boring, "If You Can't Dance" has more energy than "Go!" does and I don't think "BE" is Common's best album but that's a whole another discussion, if "Lost and Found" was shortened to about 10-12 tracks it'd be a perfect album like "Code Red", adding more brings up debate usually. ← But you're not saying that If You Can't Dance is a better track are you... ← Hell yeah I am, "Go!" sucks, I skip that track when I play "BE", "Lost and Found" is the album of the year too, "Party Starter" will blow all comp away! :chuks: ← :whatthelerkot: :whatthelerkot: :whatthelerkot:

  6. Never said that Switch was lyrically superior... The beat is very danceable however... Speaking of beats, I really like the eclectic sound of Wave 'Em Off. It's different and I think it fits his flow well, not just the lyrics, but the way the lyrics roll with the beat. It's just a different sound for Will and I think he does a good job with it. Some of you aren't feeling the singing in Wave 'Em Off... I'm not feeling the singing in If You Can't Dance... lets agree to disagree...
  7. Summertime is universally accepted as one of the best summer songs ever... I'd understand if they were hating on Gettin Jiggy Wit It or something... But Summertime... have people gone mad? Madatems... that's what they are... lol
  8. Come on Ted, be fair... you know that that is a broad generalization...
  9. I have to agree that Wave 'em off is a great track. The lyrics are far superior to If You Can't Dance as well as Switch... From a distance, you can witness The glow from my entourage Gravitate towards the ambiance and Coming of age I invaded nations On stage, I seen Haitian & Asian faces. No vacations just more locations I go places, so chasing my vocation. I think the reason that there's not too much love for Wave 'em off is the chorus and the singing, and to an extent, the beat... But hey, to each their own... Incidentally, if I were to be stranded on an island with a choice between If You Can't Dance and Scary Story... Scary Story with no hesitation... Switch and If You Can't Dance... Switch... We Won't is the only song in the Lost and Found era that If You Can't Dance would beat out... And that's saying a lot...
  10. Perhaps coming to the stage or chosen one... not feeling we won't... I think that's the weakest track of this Lost and Found era... yes... weaker than If you can't dance...
  11. Sorry, I took it down. I had to do a little spring cleaning to save some bandwith for my server so I can put up the Party Starter video when it comes out. Hopefully, someone who's already downloaded it will be gracious enough to provide it for you.
  12. yeah but thats fall is not good ← The fall is cool. Remember, the banner is largely responsible for the quick rise. Now that the banner is gone, we may have to wait until the single is officially released for people to hear it on the radio and seek to download it
  13. The banner is gone, so it's quite likely that is the reason that numbers are falling...
  14. Lol, look at the clickable smilies... Look at the clickable smilies!!! Tim, you're gonna have to elaborate...
  15. Yeah, that's why we have the date ordered the way we do. August 5th, 2005... 08/05/05.... Think about it like this, September 11th was 9/11... Even you guys in the UK and other parts of the world say 9/11... It just wouldn't be right if people went around saying 11/9... The whole 911 symbolism would have been lost... people would have been saying 119... Is this petty... yeah... Is this a ridiculous point... yeah... but when you reach... reach as much as possible...
  16. I have to say that Code Red is the best as well... it's listenable 12 years after the fact... You can't do that with too many albums... I think that all the reasons Tim listed are valid... Think of how good Lost and Found would have been minus If you can't dance and the switch remixes... ahhh to dream... Take Born to Reign from the album and put it on Lost and Found and it would have been a wrap...
  17. I think that with performances like Hitch and Ali, Will has already proved that he is to be taken seriously. He's the biggest movie star in the world right now, but I too would like to see him get the respect he deserves as an actor. People have started to realize that he is very talented as an actor, I hope this project serves to continue that trend.
  18. Tim, you did an excellent job on the blog. Good work... My Party Starter rant will come eventually...
  19. Dag, number 53 on Itunes... that was quick... wow...
  20. I'm just interested to hear the general plot of the film. MIIB was weaker because the plot was so contrived... You guys have to admit, the movie had its funny parts... "Save us Mr. Black Man!" "Kay, why you put them rats in my locker man?" But the fact that the plot was so bad didn't help the comedy any... Hopefully there's a better plot this time around.
  21. Yeah, I think people see Will more as an actor now than a rapper. Stemming from the Fresh Prince days, he's been heavily invested in acting, and the rapping has fallen by the wayside to some degree. In truth, a lot of this new generation isn't old enough to remember that he was a rapper first, but as Tim said, even though it's expected, that doesn't mean you have to like it, and especially on a music show like 106 and Park... I think that it also serves to lessen Will's credibility as a rapper. When he's doing an interview for music, and the interviewer asks him about movies, those who are watching are again reminded that he's an actor, and a number of things will go through their minds; "He's just another actor trying to rap. "The only reason he's doing well is because he's a big movie star." Some people are so narrowminded that in looking for reasons to dislike his music, they'll seize on stuff like this to bolster their bias. But I can see the other side of the coin as well. Being the biggest movie star on the planet is a big thing. Just look at the number of rumored projects there have been in the Willywood forum. The fact that people would ask the biggest movie star in the world about his next movie isn't surprising... It's sort of a problem Will has created for himself because he has become so successful in film. He's pretty much on par with Denzel, Tom Hanks and Tom Cruise in payment status... Dude almost won an oscar... I can't be mad that Access Hollywood is going to ask about his movie carreer... that's what their viewers are interested in. But I'm glad they focused on Party Starter for the 42 seconds that they did.
  22. I do agree with you .. but you have to look at it from the point of view of in the last few years, will has joined the 20 million a film club, been oscar nominated and all films have gone number 1 all over the world and made lots of $$$ and £££ ( ), and as much as the music deserved to be mentioned, he's always gonna be asked about the movies ← I have to agree. I just see it as a part of how things are... Look at Mos Def. He originally wanted to be an actor and he's been trying very hard to get good parts and to do well as an actor, but eveywhere he goes, some one asks him about his next music project.
