The reason independent artists don't appear on television as much is pretty simple... 2 reasons... Independent artists usually aren't as well know and unfortunately don't generate as much interest as artists who are on labels, largely because artists on labels have had huge financial backing for their projects in the past. For example, if you were hosting a television show about hip hop, and you had a choice between inviting Lil Bow Wow or KRS-ONE to make an appearance... in the interest of viewership, who would you choose? Be Honest. Lil Bow Wow just has more of a fanbase, so it's more likely that your viewership would be high with a well known name, regardless of how ridiculous a choice it would be. That has nothing to do with Lil Bow Wow's financial backers putting up money for him be on your show and KRS-ONE not having that. Independent artists also don't have the kind of connections that artists on labels have. Kel Spencer can't call up BET and say, hey, I want to be on 106 and Park... but artists who have managers, people in their labels, as well as artists who are influential and well known have that ability. Diddy can call up anyone on BET and say, hey, I have a new video, I need to get on 106 and Park... and it will happen. Connections and influence... You have to remember... the artists aren't the only ones benefiting from appearances on television. Television programs will, in general, gain more viewership the better known an better connected an artist is. Their looking out for their interests and the popularity of their shows... Also... now and then, someone doing something independently will get some acclaim if what they have done is truely outstanding... Look at the Blair Witch Project... how much financial backing did that have? Yet when that movie came out, it was everywhere and the actors and directors were on every television show imaginable...

Yeah, he gives gives most of the last verse... What were you guys expecting, a full featurette on Will's passion for hip hop, lol, it's Access Hollywood... a show that focuses primarily on hollywood and movie stars and movies. I guess it doesn't bother me since I knew what to expect, and at least he wasn't talking about Switch.

Incidentally... this is Access Hollywood guys, so I wouldn't read too much into the fact that they talk about Tom Cruise and allude to Will's movie career. When's the last time you've seen Mike Jones or Lil Jon on Access Hollywood?

Ted, as much as your view of hip hop may be jaded, you have to realize that when a musician or an actor appears on a program, they aren't the only ones benefiting. When Will appears on a program, whether it is Leno or Access granted, people tune in to watch Will. The program is benefiting just as much from Will's appearance as Will is benefiting from being on the show. Think of all the appearances Will has made over this year, not only for Lost and Found but Hitch as well. There's a reason why a person's appearance on television and being interviewed is called free promotion... Lol, I definitely have to laugh thinking about Will paying the Today show to appear. Ridiculous notion.

Free promotion... Wow... A television show that neither Will nor Overbrook had to pay to appear on... My, my... how could that be... Lol, yeah, I'm being facetious... :wiggle:

Of course they always save the best for last... :wiggle:

I wonder how much Overbrook and Will had to pay for the sort of promotion that Access Hollywood is giving Party Starter... Does anyone know? :wiggle:

:word: 106 & Park sucks, it's just the black version of TRL, it's corny as hell and should be taken off the air! ← 106 and Park didn't have the best content, but I think that AJ and Free did a good job hosting the show. They were pretty comfortable in from of the cameras and they had great chemistry... We'll see how this turns out...

I'm not sure everyone has heard the news, but it seems that both Free and AJ have left the show. AJ spoke on this last Thursday I believe... Rumors are abundant... fact is scarce at this point, but AJ himself has confirmed that both he and Free are leaving the show...

The latest body to be discovered is 2003 UB313... The one I think you're referring to is a body they found a few years back they named Sedna... There wasn't too much buzz about that "planet/body" because it is smaller than Pluto, so they don't consider it a planet. The problem with this new "body/planet" they have found is that it is larger and farther away from the sun than Pluto. The debate about what exactly is a planet has been renewed because of this discovery. A lot of people don't consider Pluto a planet even though it is historically considered as such... science... gotta love it...

Young children are definitely being indoctrinated with messages of hate and violence. Even though the attitude isn't new, the actions certainly are a new extreme. I see prayer and outreach as the only way to combat the hate and the dogma....

Yeah, it's definitelty great that Party Starter is rising even before the official release of the album. It definitely looks like it is going to do well upon the official release. I believe that black radio and radio in general will play the song weven with the message in the third verse, though some have stated that they would not and that they believe that it is likely that Party Starter wouldn't do well. I for one think that it will do well. Can't wait for the video to come out.
