"I Am Legend" On Screen, Family Guy At Home New York, Nov.19, 2007 (CBS) Will Smith lights up the cover of the December issue of "Men's Vogue" with the honest expression that is a reflection of his down-to-earth personality, a rarity on the Hollywood scene. He also makes a frank admission that he's counting on the success of his latest film, "I Am Legend." "It's gonna be real scary if "I Am Legend" doesn't work, because I got everything I wanted [in a film]," Smith told the magazine. Smith's new film, due in theaters Dec. 14, is a post-apocalyptic thriller about the sole survivor of a man-made incurable outbreak that swarms New York City. While working in Hollywood, Smith has stayed grounded and under the celebrity radar, due to his solid marriage with actress Jada Pinkett Smith and, he says, his friendship with fellow actor Tom Cruise. "We push one another to be better…There's a comprehension of what each of us goes through that everybody else can't understand," Smith said. "I've studied Buddhism and Hinduism and I've studied Scientology through Tom. And nobody's saying anything different!...I don't think that because the word someone uses for 'spirit' is 'thetan' that the definition becomes any different." Smith admits that it's not easy to maintain a happy marriage in Hollywood, and that you have to invest all you've got into making it work. "Counseling, individual learning, books, conflict resolution," Smith confided. "It is a full time job to try and be happy. People tend to think that they can go to work for 50 or 60 hours a week and then come home and their relationship is just supposed to work." The couple wed in November of 1997, when Smith was 29 and Pinkett Smith was 26. He is not much of a figure on the party circuit. "Will literally takes three sips and he's buzzed," says his "Hitch" co-star Eva Mendes. "It's not even like three sips of whiskey; it's literally a piña colada or a daiquiri--he loves girly drinks--and he's down." Other Hollywood stars have taken notice of Smith's one-of-a-kind demeanor. "I don't say this kind of stuff about people, but he's godly," says Smith's "John Hancock" co-star, Charlize Theron. Spotlights illuminate the Brooklyn Bridge in New York during the filming of Will Smith's new movie, "I Am Legend," on Jan. 23, 2007. Local residents were warned prior to the filming not to panic if they see Army helicopters and vehicles in the area; these are only part of the movie, which has been filming in a number of Manhattan locations for several months. Someone made a question and you said he should be banned for asking that, and you also said those things don't happen on jjfp.com. We told you everyone has the right to ask what he/she wants but it seems like you still don't understand it. That's your best way to help the site? Please. That guy wasn't insulting WS, he was just ASKING. And the decision of leaving the site was yours, and only yours.

I know the mods suck, but there are good members on there, believe it or not. Who said you are not welcome over there? You went to ws.com complaining about how bad was that site compared to this one, so the members didn't like that, obviously.

Reshoots on I Am Legend? Source: CHUD.com November 15, 2007 Next to Frank Darabont's The Mist, Warner Bros.' upcoming I Am Legend adaptation could have boasted one of the second bleakest finales in horror this year. Could have. Word through the grapevine is that director Francis Lawrence strayed from Richard Matheson's source material (big surprise) - for what, we're not sure. CHUD's Devin Feraci has confirmed that reshoots on "Legend" wrapped as late as last week...less than a month before the film is shown to us press fiends. Sources tell Feraci that the ending was re-shot, one more thing to add to the grocery list of problems we've heard this film has faced over the last year. There have been rumors of multiple FX houses being hired and dumped to the point where one crew shirt listed all of the teams involved on back like some concert city listing. Except some names were crossed off to mark fallen comrades whose work went unused or abandoned. http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news/topnews.php?id=3615

I AM RESHOOTS 11.15.07 By Devin Faraci Just the other day I got the invite for the I Am Legend junket here in Los Angeles at the end of the month. They'll be showing us the film, obviously, but it sounds like they're going to have to go double time in the editing room to get it finished: I have confirmed that there were reshoots on the movie as late as last week. What's not confirmed is what has been reshot. My source tells me that the ending was redone, as the studio wasn't happy with the finale that director Francis Lawrence had. Since I know that Lawrence's ending was already unfaithful to Richard Matheson's original story, I can only imagine that the new ending is more action packed and even more upbeat than before. This is the kind of thing that makes me look forward to the eventual book about the making of the film or Lawrence's life; we won't get the full story as to why the ending had to be changed or why it had to be changed so late in the game during the upcoming press deluge for the film, and nobody will go on the record with the truth for a good long time. http://www.chud.com/index.php?type=news&id=12571

You know how in comic-book team-up stories, the good guys always get in a big fight as a result of some misunderstanding but then realize that they need to band together to stop some crazy villain? It turns out that in the clash between the Writers Guild and the major studios, the villains may actually be Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, and every other enormous star capable of commanding revenue-draining participation deals. According to a report by Global Media Intelligence and Merrill Lynch, the executives at the major studios may be speaking some truth when they insist that there's not much money left to share with the striking screenwriters. In fact, given just how much money ends up lining the pockets of A-list stars even when their films tank at the box office, we should all be grateful that there's any cash left in circulation at all. —Matthew Perpetua http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2007/...completely.html

A class act in Lambertville Friday, November 09, 2007 LAMBERTVILLE -- Though education conferences closed schools yesterday, activity bustled at South Hunterdon Regional High School, where actor Will Smith was shooting scenes for his upcoming movie "I Am Legend." Once police shut down part of the road adjacent to the school, word quickly spread about the star's arrival to the rural high school. Principal Don Woodring said nearly 100 locals gathered to watch the filming and many were taken aback by Smith's warm personality. "He was great. Students got to take pictures with him and get autographs; the whole experience was wonderful," Woodring said. "It's so nice when someone of that caliber is completely down to earth, and treats everyone with such respect and kindness." The upcoming film, a post- apocalyptic horror film, is based on Richard Matheson's 1954 novel for which the movie is named. Smith's character, Robert Neville, is a survi vor of a man-made virus who works to create a cure while being stalked by mutant survivors of the plague. Scenes from the school's parking lot and nearby roads were used in yesterday's shoot. Woodring said it's possible the high school will be visible in the scenes when the movie releases in December. http://www.nj.com/news/times/regional/inde....xml&coll=5

Movie in Mt. Airy features actor Will Smith Thursday, November 08, 2007 By Renée Kiriluk-Hill WEST AMWELL TWP. -- Film star Will Smith is expected in Mount Airy today, trying to learn if he truly is the last human survivor of a man-made virus that wiped out his hometown of New York City. Starting at daybreak, crews will shut down roads to shoot a final scene of the action-thriller I Am Legend, scheduled for a Dec. 14 release in theaters. As long as residents are respectful of the work that needs to be squeezed into the short daylight hours they're welcome to watch the crew filming, said a studio spokesman who declined to be identified. He wasn't sure where he could put spectators, but said, "We'll be as accommodating as possible." He cautioned that spectator cameras in an actor's peripheral vision can break their concentration on the set. As for residents impacted by the filming, he said, "We'll try to cause as little inconvenience as possible. They can just go about their daily lives." The longtime film veteran had nothing but high praise for Mr. Smith, a two-time Oscar nominee. "He is terrific, the most accommodating and professional guy you'd want to come to your town. This guy is absolutely amazing, he is beyond genuine." The director's not looking for any extras; union rules mandate that the first 85 be members of the Screen Actors Guild, and since only 30 will be used in the Mount Airy scene they're being bused from New York with the crew. Mount Airy was chosen after an extensive search that stretched from northern New York south to Delaware. According to the spokesman, "We happened to fly over it," he said of the village, "we needed one countryside shot and we all kind of fell in love. It is absolutely magnificent and gorgeous, a quaint, wonderful town." That's not a guarantee that the locals will recognize their town in the movie. "I want to say yes" they will, but "truly can't answer that" unless the final film cuts are made, he said. A helicopter touched down on the Holcombe farm at the edge of the village on Sunday with location scouts, said police Lt. Steve Bartzak, who was asked about closing Route 179 for a day. He denied that request. Since the teachers convention closes schools today and tomorrow both sides agreed upon Mount Airy-Harbourton Road between the village and South Hunterdon High School. Mount Airy Village Road will be closed intermittently and the highway, between the village and West Amwell School, for a short period. Yesterday a crew planned to build a set piece along Mount Airy-Harbourton Road to be used today. "It's working out well," said the lieutenant. He will oversee eight officers who will direct pedestrian and vehicle traffic, their wages covered by the movie's budget. In the film, Mr. Smith is brilliant scientist Robert Neville, who is somehow immune to a man-made virus that wiped out human life (except for him) as we know it. For three years he sends out daily radio messages, as desperate to find other survivors as he is to avoid "the infected" -- mutant plague victims. He's driven to reverse the effects of the virus, utilizing the blood that's given him immunity. While Mr. Smith is the star, the Hollywood insider offered an inside tip to watch "Alice Braga. You'll know who she is in a few years. She's a big star in Brazil." The most unusual thing residents and motorists are likely to see today is a camera mounted on the nose of a helicopter, following a car down the road. After the crew has packed up and returned to New York City, where most of the film was shot, the studio spokesman hopes that people here will have had fun. "Most places that I've been to, they enjoy it and talk about it at church on Sunday." Warner Bros. Pictures has posted shots of the filming to date, along with a preview, at myspace.com/iamlegendmovie. http://www.nj.com/news/hunterdon/index.ssf...oll=12#continue
