i'm surprised how much Beck and Beanie Sigel are dropping. Will's drop is under 50% which is a good thing for 2nd week sales.

  4. i'll keep all of ya'll updated on Lost and Found's 2nd week sales. U can help me out if u want

the latest news is that Will looks to sell around 60,000 copies, maybe a bit more. That's a low drop. Good job Will. But Beanie Sigel is taking the hardest drop from last week's debut guys. It looks like he's gonna sell less than Will in his 2nd week with about 50,000 copies. I think WIll is gonna land in the top 5, or around #6 again. No change is better than dropping lower, so go Will!!

    where's beanie and 122??

  6. well the support for Will is really high on other forums. Especially Allhiphop.com. Even the D12 website is showin love and ppl are defending him just a strong over there.

What's surprising to me is most placing are trashing Common's new CD "BE". There was so much hype on how it was gonna be a classic, everyone thought it was gonna be great, and now after hearing it, they're disappointed. And Common is one of the few most respected rappers out there.

  7. i think Interscope. Like ya'll said Columbia ****ed Will as an artist. I've seen a couple TV ads for Lost and Found here in the US. Any CD rarely gets ads on the radio in the US. I've never heard of a 50cent radio ad, or Eminem and they're both huge interscope artists. Also rap CD's won't have ads on other stations than music stations. U can't expect your local station to advertise "the masacre" or "lost and found" cuz it's not the right audience. Your grandma, who's watching the 4 PM news isn't gonna go out to buy a rap CD.

Also, Jimmy Iovine didn't stop Will from addressing Eminem. I'm guessin Columbia would stop him.

  8. hey, this movie looks nice, but I want to see Will in an serious role and not the same roles that Will always plays..like MaxFly said, a more serious role which he could win an Oscar for, that would be nice!

if you've read the book or the script, you'd know it wouldn't be your typical Will Smith role

  9. latest sales update with 93% in

    5) Will Smith -Lost and Found: 98,778 copies sold so far.

Looks like it could get 100,000! let's hope so

it also moved up ahead of "That's what i call music vol 18."

The chart is so far like this

    1) 50Cent- the massacre

    2) Beck-Guero

    3) Beanie Siegel-the B Coming

    4) 112-Pleasure and Pain

    5) Will Smith-Lost and Found

  10. I have to agree with Tim.

I sense a bit of hypocricy here... and I know I'm not the only one. When Will Smith makes party tracks, Gettin Jiggy Wit It or Miami for instance, the reviewers say that his music isn't relevant, that it's too light and fluffy and that it's not hip hop... that he's been out of the black community too long... that his subject matter is just superficial and lacks any real depth and all it's good for is for a party or the club, and even then they wouldn't dance to it. So now he takes time to really dig into his soul, "the most revealing writing" he's ever done, and puts out music where he releases what he feels, where he's spitting truth on a variety of subject, and yet there are still a few party/feel good tracks. But now they want to say he's trying to acting street, that he's trying to be hard, that he isn't sincere and that he's bitter. Am I the only one who sees the glaring hypocrisy here? And no, for the reviewers who think his subject matter is one sided, it's really not. He does address the state of rap music on a few tracks, Lost and Found, I Wish I Made That, and the last verse of Party Starter, but it's needed, and it's needed sorely, and anyone who thinks that he puts too much of a focus on this really doesn't understand the disaray hip hop is in right now. I advice you to turn on your tv and watch BET for and hour. Incidentally, how many reviewers are saying that 50 talks about guns and sex in his music too much, cause it's on almost every track, and most times, that's all the track is about. I don't hear writers crying over rappers talking about Jacob the Jewelers on every other song. Look, bottom line, the man had something to say, he said it, and a lot of people are enjoying hearing him say it, but for those who want people to be boxed into a certain musical format, to only address certain subjects, you're taking the rapper at face value and you should be ashamed of yourselves. :nono:

great post. That's exactly what I was thinkin. Critics are never satisfied. It's the same with Will's movie. They just can't get over their hate for the man. The important thing though is ppl who listen to rap are responding well to it. Critics are usually 50 yr old men who live in their mom's basement, having no dates on Friday type ppl anyways.

  11. I really don't think Ludacris is that talented.  He's a step above the normal stuff on the radio (Chingy, 50 Cent, The Game, Lil' Jon, Triville, etc) but i just can't get in2 his stuff.  I think by keeping in on the remix of a song he already produced is limiting what the song can be.  If Ludacris wants 2 jump on a remix, keep the same beat.  Here's my idea 4 the remix....

It's JJ+FP 2005.  The track starts out with that same sound, but Jeff starts scratching it like crazy.  Then an old skool meets new skool beat drops.  Totally different from the original.  High energy, taking it back 2 the house party days.  This version by the way is called "Party Starters"...FP's talking about him and Jazzy...not just himself.  "Oooohh, we the party starters / u might call us old skool / but we party harder..."  Don't limit where this song can go.  :kool:

nah... i disagree. Do u have Luda's albums? I have Back for the First Time, Word of Mouf, and Red Light District. I think he is one of the better mainstream rappers out today. You cannot compare him to **** artists like Chingy, Nelly, or Trillville who have zero lyrical skills at all. Whenever Luda guest on a track, he outshines the original artist. People do complain about his content, but then they obviously haven't listened to his CD's. He does do some serious songs, but he is mainly a fun/humor rapper. That's what he's loved and famous for, so that's what you're gonna get. The fact that he also has shown a lot of respect for Will in the past and now, gets him more props from me.

Also your remix idea... sorry but no. This is 2005. People have evolved and sadly whether u like it or not the majority of ppl are lookin for new stuff. Not old-school nostalgia
