  1. wow im very impressed by those two songs. Party Starter has some hot lyrics. Will is really steppin his game up. I'm lovin these two. Hey Hero, could u possibly contact Will and tell him to put these two out as singles?? Lol... u got connections right? I mean these two song will give Will the respect he deserves with the rap community. I wanna make those haters hear these songs!

  2. even if interscope dropped Will its very easy for him to dign deals with record labels around the world..bootsy collins was one who released an album on warner germany..and it got released around the world and did very well and was finally released in the US about a year later..many artists actually release albums in japan first.. the thing is Will has been in the music business for 20 years and this is his 9th album..so nothings gonna stop him

u never know... bootsy collins didn't even do well here. My thing is, I don't wanna see Will be called a failure or a flop again. He's doin real well in the movies, and hopefully he has luck with music.

  3. :bang: Ok Mimi, the credibility that your dad worked in the movie industry overseas and U.S. doesn't really give any relevant facts to if what you are saying is true.  For all we know he was probably a small time company anyway and just because your dad says that doesn't mean it goes for everyone; that's just his opinion.  Honestly people, why does it matter if Will makes it better overseas or U.S.?  does it prove that the U.S. is better? What are you really tryna prove? Is the overseas better?  No.  I live in the U.S. I admit that if you make it in the music industry here it is more of an advantange overall but it doesn't determine whether or not an artist will make it anywhere.  Will is already popular and doesn't need more sales in the U.S. to tell him if he should make more albums or not. Drop the damn subject it's stupid and we won't agree, only to disagree.

actually he worked for Fox. Is that a small company? I'm sayin I know this b/c not only did he deal with the studio itself, he had to oversee some of the soundtracks for certain movies. The truth is, and most of u don;t want to accept it it seems, is people want to make it here. I don't want to use 50cent as an example, but he sold 11 mil in the US. he said if he doesn't sell 11 mil or more of his record this time, he will see it as a failure. Now, he toured in Euprope, Japan, etc. But, it's almost as if he doesn't count overseas success b/c the US is more important to him.

BTW: All American artists have record labels here in the US. If they don't do well here, their "american based" record labels are gonna drop them quick. Jimmy Iovine (interscope) isn't gonna keep Will if he only does well overseas. Guess ya'll ain't think bout that huh?

Also I never said the US is better. But business wise, if u wanna see Will stay in the rap game longer, his label is here in the US. Even if he wants to make an album, the record industry could become shady if he fails here. Like I said, u guys are thinking philosophically, getting offended when I didn't even imply the US is better than a foreign country. My parents are from mexico, so don't try to bring that **** on me

U guys are disagreeing with me, but u have no basis to back up your claims. So when u can prove that Interscope won't drop Will if he fails in the US, then talk back please. Otherwise, u are disagreeing and i'd still think I'm right.

  4. The world does not revolve around the US. Get over it

some parts, especially in the entertainment business do. I know since my dad worked both in the US and overseas for a movie studio. I know about business so trust me on this one. American artists need it more in the US than overseas so get over it. Bitter foreigner LOL...j/k

  5. sorry but u guys are very otherworldly... The harsh reality is everyone wants to make it in the US. Especially when u are a native, u have to want to do well in your home country. Plus when u mention the Black Eyed Peas sellin 6 million worldwide is that the toatl of all overseas countries?? If so, 1 mil in the US is a biggre amount from ONE country than say 45 combined to make 6 mil. I'm telling u no matter how well Will does overseas, if he doesn't do it here in America, it closer to being over. Harsh truth u guys. U may see it more excitement overseas, but I'm telling u success here is more important than u think. I could give u a list of American rappers/singers who do well overseas but flopped in America and their careers are dwindling.

  6. Im in the US in California and I have heard SITCH on the radio station KIIS and the local Hip Hop station. Also I have XM satilite radio and it plays all the time on the top 20 station. As for seeing it on MTV I have! It comes on MTV Hits channel that shows only videos a few times a DAY. It is getting love out here and I for sure am giving it mad love. :dj:

i live in Cali too, but I've heard it on just Power 106 once. I don't listen to the pop stations (don't care about them much). How many times have u heard it though??

  7. ^^^um it does count more here.  People in the US love Will still, and he's from here.  He needs more support from his home country than overseas cause this is where he's gonna hear whether he failed or succeeded with his album

BTW, do most of u people live overseas??

U do know that ppl like 50cent are more popular b/c of the success they had in the US right?  People are gonna talk about 50 selling 11 Mill in the US.  Not the 1 million he sold overseas.  That's why I'm sayin success in the US does count.

I'm gonna hafta disagree w/ you on the premis that it somehow counts more here-- it may mean more to him that ppl from his country appreciate what he's doin, but it's not somehow more valuable or important overall. Wahtever. Basically, I'm just wriuting this to say check out the "where are you ppl from?" msg topic I started under the "caught in the middle" forum. There are def more ppl here are from outside the US than US.

you're looking at it from a philosophical stand point. I'm lookin at it business wise. If it doesn't do well here in the US, then most likely it will influence whether or not Will is gonna put out another album. If it does well in the UK, it doesn't matter cuz that's gonna gonna make him say "it did well in the UK, so I'm gonna put out abother CD, even if I flop in America". Maybe he'll get more money but not doin well in America is blah. He even said he didn't like Boom Shake the Room for the reason that it was a big hit in Irelend (or somethin like that).

  8. ^^^um it does count more here. People in the US love Will still, and he's from here. He needs more support from his home country than overseas cause this is where he's gonna hear whether he failed or succeeded with his album

  9. Hero, JusticeKnight-- I understand what you guys are saying. But I still don't feel like Eminem never said anything that horrible about Will Smith, specifically. I know he cursed him out, but he curses every1 out on his Slim-Shady-first-single records. Whether you're a fan or not, that's just his schtick in his shock-rap tracks. And that infamous line never dissed Will's skills or anything like that, just his criticism of rappers who curse alot. And the radio thing was just a stupid self-defense crack. Whatever. I have no problem w/ Will calling out his critics who knock his "nice guy" image, or even if he goes after Em for his style and ways of getting attention, but I don't think the Will-Em beef is really anything to speak of - at least yet. Anyone else with me on this?? :cya:

i get what you're sayin. Plus I agree it ain't even a beef. LOL who ever thinks that needs to slow down. Still hate em with a passion though... that's why I made this post

  10. I'm hopin' this year is gonna be HUGE. However, i'm not feeling any impact yet. I don't listen 2 the radio much or watch TV 2 much, but i've never heard it on the radio and i've only seen it on TV twice...and one of those times waz when he premeired it. Both times were on BET.

yeah that's what i'm sayin too. I've heard it on radio once, seen it on tv 3 times (excluding the premiere) but not much else. Where is this buzz that ya'll are feeling?

  11. that's real good to hear. I have some questions 4 u Hero, since you're know more inside the business than I do. How do u know that Switch gained music video play? I mean, how do u track these things? Just wondering cuz I could never find out. Also, do u know specific examples of radio/music video stations increasing Switch's play? Thanks

  12. I heard that Eminem was on a satellite radio station recently and the DJ's asked him if he heard about Will dissin him. I think Em's response was "oh really? Will smith is still makin records?" and he laughed. Now, I've hated Eminem since his punk ass stepped out. But now he irritates me even more. The man has no balls to go against other rappers that he's scared of and begs for peace in rap, but when it comes to Will, he disses him freely. Eminem is a whiny bitch. This has gotta make us want Will's CD to suceed even more. I don't know how well Interscope is gonna promote Will's album, but i'm steppin it up now. I want it to go a few times platinum. Eminem needs to shut his ass up. I know that if he ever encountered Will in real life, he would pee his pants.

  13. ... he/she was expressing  sincere curiousity.

Well put mimi. Anyway, I don't recall wether or not he said he wanted to stop being refered to as the Fresh Prince, but I do remember something about the Men in Black soundtrack cover being the copy of the poster, meaning his name was on the cover instead of Fresh Prince. Supposedly he let that slide and continued the trend of using his name in his albums. However I didn't pick up the soundtrack (I've never bought a soundtrack) so this is all from memory.

thanks for that... I'm just tired of ppl getting unnecessary attacks

  14. wow u guys are real mean up here. Seriously, the guest ain't making it up. I heard him say the same quote in an interview not too long ago. I think it's alright to call him the "fresh prince" still if u want, but replacing the name Will with "Fresh Prince" for everything is pretty ridiculuos too. I'm talkin specifically to AJ about the Playboy interview he posted. I'm sure it didn't say "prince" on there. It seems to me that some of u are stuck on nostalgia and keep it old school all the time and refuse to let the old times go. But just because a guest is wondering why some of u call him Fresh Prince all the time doesn't mean u gotta attack the person. If u think it's dumb for asking a simple question and u go on attacking a guest, u just chased away another potential board member. I've seen dumber posts here by members and i think that it was a legit question that guy was asking. If u wonder why some people are standoffish with some of u, read your responses to these people. Will Smith, the man we're all here for is all about the positive. He never blatently attacks people for no reason. yet here u are, his fans, callin people dumb, "making the worst post ever" just cuz maybe he/she was expressing sincere curiousity.

Im guessing that since I don't agree with u guys I'll be attacked for my opinions too huh? I guess like the guest, I'll be another dumb, offensive poster right??
