THANX!!! Good 2 hear him talk about the music again. This article waz great 2 read...cuz it proves that emcees/rappers can actually be smart. In articles like this...u see the Fresh Prince u expect, the goofyness, the sillyness, but u also see how smart he is. The way he talks and his outlook on life is amazing. When other rappers do interviews, they sound...well, like they have a 5th grade vocabulary with no experience in life.

Man, some crazy mess went down on that board. Everytime their'd be a hater attack, i'd spend hours cleaning that board up...literally. We should start a new post on an off-topic board about all the funny stuff that happened over there. -
That waz great!! Thanx 4 finding that and posting. This article is the only real way we've got 2 find out who Charlie Mack really is. It's good 2 know he can do more things than bite peoples' faces off. :thumb:
Yeah look at him now, his rap image has been almost destroyed
Well, Columbia promoted him as a certain kinda artist...but Will also played along. FP himself had the choice 2 concentrate that much on movies and not so much on music. U can't blame Columbia totally cuz alot of it waz up 2 Will. He's the one who choose not 2 do so many music videos, performances, and tours. Columbia had control over the singles and packaging, but FP could have done alot of things he didn't do. I guess he didn't think certain things were that imporant. Also, as an artist, when a label is stressing u, it makes u not want 2 create as much. Will's involvement in movies made him a mega star and got him secure financially and as an entertainer. Who knows, without the movies, Big Willie Style may have no been as big as it waz. This kinda stuff goes both ways.

BUILD YOUR OWN WILL SMITH "GREATEST HITS" ALBUM
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Yeah, i've read interviews where they say the Greatest Hits album waz how they fulfilled his contract. It waz obviously mutual for both Will and Columbia that they part Will cuz they could have fought the idea so that each of them could have gotten their way, but i think Will waz sick of the grip they had on him and Columbia wazn't interested in him since he wazn't making Big Willie Style sales anymore. -

I heard a few of Ziggy Marley's singles from the mid-late 90's and liked them. If his singles reflect his albums...i think he makes some good stuff. BET stopped airing Caribbean Rhythms so they don't have any shows that focus strictly on Reggae and Dancehall anymore. I'm not any expert on his music at all...i'm just saying i've liked what i've heard. The Marley's are kinda like the Wayan's of reggae. -
I'm thinkin' about pre-ordering it thru' Sony so i can get that bonus CD. Dose anyone have any info on what is on that bonus CD other than that alternate version of "Bedda At Home." I'm a huge Jill Scott fan, but i waz expecting a lil' more than what i've heard so far with Golden, Bedda At Home, and Family Reunion. I'm not saying they aren't good songs, i just expected something a lil' more. The fact that i'm hearing them over the computer and not in my car is one of the thing that is probably taking from it, but i'm dying 2 hear the rest of the album.

AIR FRESH!! Instead of the Michael Jordan silloette flying thru' the air dunking the ball...they could put the Will Smith Enterprises logo of Will doing the running man and hat 2 da back.

BUILD YOUR OWN WILL SMITH "GREATEST HITS" ALBUM
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Yeah, the fact that Will only had 3 albums is a main factor why it waz unnecessary. However, with the way the music biz is these days, Will would have had 2 fight 2 NOT have it put out. By them putting it out, i'm sure it'll make it easier for him 2 release another Greatest Hits album in the future. Imagin a WS greatest hits album WITHOUT "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It." It benifited Will cuz it got him off the label without legal problems . We'll never know the extact deal that Will had with them...my main point waz that they make a quality Greatest Hits album and sum up his career as a solo artist better that what that weak album did. -
What Does Everybody Do For A Living?
JumpinJack AJ replied to KevTastic's topic in Caught in the Middle
I've done some local commercials and have been asked 2 do lots of local TV projects. I've passed all of the TV offers but i may do one in a week or 2. I need 2 talk 2 the producer/director before agreeing 2 it tho.' I don't have much of a drive 2 do the acting thing big time but it's definitly something i enjoy. As a performer who gets their drive from music, i like 2 do stuff in front of audiences and not just 4 cameras. There's nothing like hearing people respond 2 something u created yourself. -
Yeah, i think Nelly will still sell records and stay recording...but i think that "Shake Ya Tailfeather" is gonna be his last big hit. He dropped some huge singles but his more recent songs are not only alot worse then the already-bay singles he put out early in his career, but he's not getting the same support or love. Of course it's early 4 this new album so i may be wrong. It would be nice 2 see a current new jack rapper getting ignored and have slumping sales 4 a change since it happens 2 many of the old skool vets.
-
Yeah!! There's promos for another 2 or 3 trax off the new album on ebay but i think i'm gonna be good and wait 4 the album. There's remixes of "Golden" tho' that i'll have 2 get sometime.

JJ+FP shirts are a great idea. I would get tons of those as long as they looked good. JJ+FP need 2 do a photo shoot 2 put a new picture on the front and then maybe a smaller old skool pic on the back with one of FP's lyrics under it. I'd proudly wear them around. Hat's aren't a bad idea either. -

I'm an actor who works at the dinner theater. I act in the shows (sometimes i'll just understudy, do props, or work on the set) and i also wait tables there. I also work in a photography studio as photographer and manager. -

The next time Nelly thinks about recording another song...he should put that Band-Aid over his mouth.

Yeah, i never paid attention 2 what shoe's his waz wearing. Air Jordans were the shoes 2 have in the 90's and i remember Will wearing them from time 2 time in the early and mid-90's. Some of u might remember the line in Wild Wild West when they are in the flying thing Gordon created and Jim (Will) asks him what he'll call it and his said "I waz thinking...Air Gordon."

Will never rapped on the TV show on purpose. I read an interview awhile ago where he talked about never using his success in music as a crutch 4 his acting. It waz probably one of the smartest things he ever did. If he waz rapping on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, he would have gotten stuck in a career circle where the only acting he would have done would have been related 2 rap or hood flicks (like Silkk The Shocker, Ja-Rule and lots of others. Will has paved the way 4 other hard working emcees like L.L. Cool J, Queen Latifah, 2Pac, and DMX 2 break out of that circle where they would only be looked at as rappers who act and be respected as actors in general. Most rappers use their music as their only way of getting in2 acting and that's why their "acting careers" are a joke. Will waz smart and kept his rapping and acting seperate. After he waz respected as an actor, he know it waz safe 2 record a song like "Men In Black." I do think the references 2 his music career were funny but it waz very smart of him not 2 rap on the show. Look at him now, he's one of the biggest megastars in the world now!!

BUILD YOUR OWN WILL SMITH "GREATEST HITS" ALBUM
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Yeah, Colulmbia really should have released a Will Smith "Greatest Hits" DVD. Boy You Knock Me Out, Freakin' It, Nod Ya Head (The Remix), and 1,000 Kisses are gonna be rare and hard 2 find now. They didn't need 2 put alot of work in 2 it (like the CD)...they coulda just put it out 4 us fans. About those Big Willie Style unreleased trax...i'm beginning 2 think that "Lean Left Lean Right" and "Round And Round" were just typos from CDnow.com and not trax that just didn't make the album. I do think it waz important 2 pick the album up tho.' After that one Sony PR said Will waz washed up, sales of this album couldn't hurt. However, Columbia would have benifited from it more than Will. I still think buying it is a good act of support and a sign of apprication 4 Will. I'm glad that everyone so far likes my tracklisting. Someone pass the word 2 Columbia that they should re-release it. My tracklisting with an accompanying DVD. Since he didn't do 2 many videos, there would be plenty of room for interviews that Columbia had of Will and the commercials they made 4 his albums. -
BUILD YOUR OWN WILL SMITH "GREATEST HITS" ALBUM

The sad thing is, it wouldn't have taken any more effort 2 at least put 2gether the tracklisting. Screw the artwork and promotion, they could have at least put a better tracklisting on it. I couldn't help getting it tho.' Just 2 have something new waz kinda nice. It's also priced really low (about $10 - $12) so it dosen't exactly hurt your budget. I waz kinda happy 2 have "1,000 Kisses" without the talking at the end 2. Helps make those mixtape CDs flow better. -
A Touch of Jazz is one of the leading under dogs of the Hip-Hop and R-N-B scene. While Jeff welcomes success, he never seems 2 really make the company huge. Since they have a timeless, down 2 earth sensibility which means they'd never play themselves out like No Limit or Bad Boy did. I'd love 2 see them make an album that waz intended 4 a mainstream audience just 2 put that name out here and 2 make some good music with taltented artists that would shine along side ATOJ. If u could get ATOJ 2 work with about 15 R-N-B artists 4 a compilation album 2 make them huge, who would u have them work with. Feel free 2 throw in a guest rapper here or there...but not somebody like Ja-Rule who they'd never work with. 1. Jill Scott 2. Avant 3. Tatyana Ali feat. Fresh Prince 4. Musiq 5. Vivan Green 6. Destiny's Child 7. Brian McKnight + Kelly Price 8. Tamia 9. Boyz II Men feat. L.L. Cool J 10. En Vogue 11. Jon B + Babyface feat. Common Sense 12. Ashanti 13. Glenn Lewis feat. The Roots 14. Usher 15. Mary J. Blige

Will Smith "Greatest Hits" is one weak greatest hits project. Since Will and Columbia didn't wanna have anything 2 do with each other, they rushed it out as a last attempt 2 make money off his time there and 2 fulfill his contract. The poor artwork waz bad enuff but the disappointing tracklisting waz the most tragic part of it. If u were working at Columbia and were trying 2 put 2gether the Will Smith "Greatest Hits" album, what would the tracklisting be? Here's mine... Will Smith "Greatest Hits" 1. Big Willie Style Megamix 2. Just Cruisin' (Video Version) - w/ breakdown + scratches 3. Gettin' Jiggy Wit It (Original Version) - w/ Jeff's additional samples 4. Just The Two of Us (Rodney Jerkins Remix) feat. Brian McKnight 5. Miami (Video Mix) - Album Version blending in2 Miami Mix feat. Miami Sound Machine 6. (Boy) You Knock Me Out (Big Willie Style Mix - Extended) w/ Tatyana Ali 7. Will 2K (Video Version) - w/ old skool breakdown in middle of song 8. So Fresh (with intro from music video) 9. Freakin' It 10. 1,000 Kisses (Video Version) - w/ old skool breakdown 11. Holla Back (Bonus Track) 12. Men In Black feat. Coko 13. Wild Wild West feat. Drul Hill + Kool Moe Dee 14. Nod Ya Head (The Remix) 15. Gettin' Jiggy Wit It (DJ Scratch Remix) 16. Just The Two of Us I think this would have been a proper greatest hits album becuz it's loaded with all the modern singles and flows (i think the JJ+FP trax just didn't let the album flow and they wern't necessary since Jive put 2gether a great JJ+FP "Greatest Hits album). The movie songs were clumped 2gether so they wouldn't mess with the flow of real music. Also, but putting the video versions, it would make the hardcore fans happy 2 have alternate versions of trax they already have and the remixes, megamix, and "Holla" back would have served as great bonuses 2 all of his fans. I would have also had a totally fresh album cover and had a megamix created 2 promote the album on the radio and with a music video 4 it.
