This beat is dope! Sounds like something Digable Planets would rhyme over in 2015. Jaden is trippy and pretty legit on the mic. I wish he'd release an album loaded with songs on this level. Man, this is so good.

Percy Sledge Dies at 73Apr 14, 2015, 11:00 AM ETBy MICHAEL ROTHMAN and ANDREA DRESDALE Percy Sledge is pictured performing at the Joy Theater on Jan. 28, 2012 in New Orleans, La.Erika Goldring/Getty ImagesFamed R&B singer Percy Sledge died this morning in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, his agent Steve Green confirmed to ABC News. He was 73. The Alabama native, most known for his classic 1966 hit "When a Man Loves a Woman," which reach No. 1 on the charts, died after a long battle with cancer, his agent of 35 years added. Sledge had been singing for the past 50 years and music was released under his name all the way till 2013 with "The Gospel of Percy Sledge." According to Sledge's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame bio, his hit "'When a Man Loves a Woman' topped the R&B and pop charts for multiple weeks and raised the bar for soul balladeering for all time. Yet Sledge’s career didn’t end with that momentous first single. Over the years he racked up a dozen hits at Atlantic, including 'Warm and Tender Love,' 'It Tears Me Up,' 'Out of Left Field' and 'Take Time to Know Her.'" His most-famous song was inspired by real life events. "When a Man Loves a Woman" was about "a girl who left Sledge for another guy," his bio reads. Sledge "was working as a hospital orderly when he began playing clubs and frat parties," shortly before his big break. In 1989, Sledge earned the Rhythm and Blues Foundation’s Career Achievement Award and in 2005, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.

This is interesting. I'm wondering if he's just following the code, is scared for his life, and/or realizes that he stirred up some trouble and that nothing will bring back his friend. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Suge Knight’s Victim Reportedly Doesn’t Want To ‘Snitch’3.6k91030NewsBy: VIBE / April 13, 2015Snitches get stitches. And even when you don’t snitch, you get run over. The victim of Suge Knight’s hit-and-run incident has some insane loyalty. To whom however, is not clear. Apparently Cle “Bone” Sloan – yes, the man who was brutally injured by Suge and his truck – refused to snitch in court according to ABC 7 Los Angeles. In a touching (and confusing) testimony earlier this morning (Apr. 13), a teary-eyed Bone claimed he “doesn’t want to be used to send this man to prison.” “Every day, I tried to forget it,” he added. “I just know, I screwed up, and Terry’s dead.” SEE ALSO: Suge Knight Passes Out In Court Room After Judge Hands Down $25 Million Bond Bone apparently tried to take the weight off of Suge for the death of his other victim, Terry Carter, and refused to help prosecutors. One might think that someone who was in the hospital with two fractured ankles, torn ligaments in both knees, and a shoulder injury would take the stand and demand some justice. Either we all need to take a moment and witness this undying loyalty (no pun intended), or we need to take a moment to rewind those surveillance tapes. Prayers up for Terry Carter and his family. – Olivia Jade Khoury

MARIAH CAREY - #1 To Infinity
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Caught in the Middle
My heart broke when Mariah's last album didn't sell well. To me, it was her best album since The Emancipation of Mimi, which was her best album since Butterfly. It has a perfect mix of R&B, Soul, and Hip-Hop with pop sensibilities to it. It even had a club song and a gospel song. Classic Mariah. I don't think the explicit lyrics sticker helped because no one things of Mariah have having that sticker on her albums. If you haven't checked that album and have been pleased with most of her previous stuff, do yourself a favor and check it out. Anyways, the this tracklisting is a little risky. All the die-hard fans have all of these songs but the new one. Her 1998 #1's album had most of these songs on it with 4 new song or alternate versions. She also released two double disc Greatest Hits and Essentials albums, so this doesn't have much to offer. I love her as a singer/songwriter, so I'll still get the album instead of just downloading the new song. "Someday" is one of my all time favs. It's the song that made me fall in love with her. I'm kinda annoyed that they put the inferior version from her MTV Unplugged performance. She's catching heat for the album cover since she's photo shopped. Part of me says thinks "get over it, critics." Another part of me thinks "Mariah, you've had twins and you're not 20 anymore. We understand." Anyway, are there any Mariah fans left on the board? Thoughts on her last album and/or this new collection? -

Due May 18 on Epic Records / Columbia Records/Sony Legacy, Infinity reunites Carey with Epic chairman-CEO Antonio "L.A." Reid, who helped spearhead Carey's mid-2000's comeback with The Emancipation of Mimi as then-chairman of Island Def Jam Records. The song will premiere globally on April 27 via all digital services, as well as a video directed by Carey's longtime collaborator Brett Ratner. Carey is also expected to host a kick-off event for her upcoming Caesars Palace residency in Las Vegas on April 27, with more details to be announced shortly. Mariah Carey Reveals Cover Art for '#1 To Infinity' Album "I couldn't be more thrilled to be back together again with Mariah," says Reid in a statement. Yeah, I get the impression that the crew is really supportive of his music and that it let to this intimate performance. The fact that Jazzy showed up for it even though it wasn't a huge show is dope. He seems to be getting into Lost + Found mode, which is a great thing...except with Jeff involved, it's an even better thing.

New rhymes! I was so happy that I didn't even notice that is was over "Clique", which is a song I despise...lol That says something.

I love that song...but I can't hear it without thinking of this In Living Color parody every time...lol NICOLE C. MULLEN - Everyday People Everyday People (2004)

Oh man, that clip of "Brand New Funk" got me hype. This is just the beginning...

I saw Jeff post this earlier. My thought was 'why are we just now finding out about this?' Is it tied to an event? It'd be nice if they actually did a show that we could actually be aware of, get tickets, and attend...lol

BACK TO BACK ID4 SEQUELS - WILL SMITH LOCKED?
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Will Smith Movies
I'm against the film too. The ONLY reason to revisit it is to make money. There's no reason to revisit this story. I admit that since many of the original characters are returning, I have a little bit of an interest, only because they are iconic characters, but I doubt I'll see it in theaters. I don't wanna put my money into this nonsense. -

DJ JAZZY JEFF DEBUNKS 5 FPOBA MYTHS
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I've heard the myth a few times. I think it's the stupidest thing anyone could come up with. I hate when fans over think something and try to come up with stuff like that. -
5 Myths About 'The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air' Debunked By DJ Jazzy JeffThe Huffington Post | By Bill Bradley Posted: 04/04/2015 10:20 am EDT Updated: 04/04/2015 11:59 am EDT Prepare to have your world flipped, turned upside down. "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" came into our lives in 1990, and 25 years later, we're still obsessed. It was the '90s show you had to watch. Even today, its theme song sparks instant sing-a-longs all over the world, and the show just seems to get more and more popular. But despite what Smith's character might say in the show, popularity can have its downsides. Over the years, some stories about the show have been passed along as fact even though they're missing important details or are completely made up. While talking with HuffPost Entertainment about the Red Bull Thre3style DJ competition, "Fresh Prince" cast member DJ Jazzy Jeff, aka Jeffrey Townes, also helped clear up fact from fiction. If you'd like to take a minute, just sit right there, here are 5 huge myths about "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air": Myth 1. Producer Quincy Jones is the cab driver. Image: YouTube The Real Story: There's a popular rumor online that the cabbie who picks up Will Smith in the opening credits was producer Quincy Jones. This rumor is so widely reported as fact that there's even "visual evidence" (as seen in the image): Image: Imgur Townes gives the "fact" a definitive "no," saying, "No way, shape or form. Another urban legend." According to Townes, there's also another casting rumor to clear up. Apparently, the mom in the "Parents Just Don't Understand" video and the "Fresh Prince" intro are not the same person, despite claims. Myth 2. The scene where Jazz gets kicked out of the house was shot only once to save money. Image: YouTube The Real Story: Jazz's famous scene was actually shot multiple times, but Townes said after a while, he couldn't take the bruises. The actor explains, "When I did it maybe the third or fourth time, because every time you shoot it to get a take you probably have to do it about 40 times. Literally, black and blue by the time they say, 'We got it.' And it got so bad the last time, and I was like, 'I can't do this. I'm not a stuntman. I can't do it.'" Townes says that's the real reason the show started using the same clip over and over, and it seemed to work out. "Like, it became a joke," he said. Myth 3. The show is just a metaphor for Heaven, and Will is actually dead. Image: Getty The Real Story: A widely accepted theory about the "Fresh Prince" is that the show was just a metaphor for what Heaven is like, and Will actually died in the playground fight he mentions in the theme song. Townes shot the theory down, but said he appreciated the fans who came up with it. "It’s just, that’s so far-fetched you just laugh," he said. The actor later added, "To see someone take all of that stuff and almost create a whole world around it, you’re kind of like, 'Wow, it wasn’t that deep, but that’s amazing that their brain took it there.'" Townes also said, despite the fact that the theme song seems semi-autobiographical, the fight Smith mentions in it never actually happened. "Will Smith is just a great storyteller," said Townes. Myth 4. The show was only created because of Will Smith's financial trouble. The Real Story: It's widely known that Smith was in debt at the time NBC offered him a sitcom. Smith even explained the story to James Lipton on "Inside the Actors Studio": I kinda spun out for a little bit, and, um, I got a call from the IRS. And I wasn't -- they said I was evading my taxes. I wasn't evading 'um. I just wasn't paying 'um. Though Smith's financial situation was incentive for doing a show, a huge reason "Fresh Prince" got made was the "Parents Just Don't Understand" video. Townes explained that after seeing the video, the eventual producers thought "[smith] might be able to pull this TV show off." Townes says everything happened very quickly: "People loved it. They said, 'Hey let’s do the TV show.' They shot the TV show. Then it became a humongous success. But, kind of like back then sometimes rap videos were your audition reel. You know? And you didn’t even know it." Myth 5. Will and Jazz came up with that famous handshake. Image: Tumblr The Real Story: Townes gives all the credit for the show's famous handshake to a backup dancer on the DJ Jazzy Jeff and "Fresh Prince" tour: "His name is Mike Barr. [He] started doing the handshake, and that became our tour handshake. And what happened was it was a thing that I greeted Will [with] on the show. We just did the handshake that we would do on tour ... and it actually became a cultural phenomenon." Though there are the rare instances you might see Smith do the handshake with others, Townes says for the most part, they won't do it with people who weren't on the tour. "I can’t, like, if you’re not Will," he said. Townes compared it to secret handshakes in sororities and fraternities, saying, "You can't do that unless you’ve gone through the initiation." And that's really how he became the prince of a town called Bel-Air. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/04/04/fresh-prince-myths-debunked-dj-jazzy-jeff_n_6986906.html

Will on new Kanye Album "So Help Me God"
JumpinJack AJ replied to Booga's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
There's no reason to doubt new music. He's the kind of artist who doesn't talk about it unless it's going to happen. I never had much doubt that there would be more music. My posts of hope can be seen all over the board...lol. The thing is, so many people want to put legends in boxes by saying "you need to release new music within this time frame or you've retired." I'll be happy that new music is coming out, but I don't like the idea of "Will Smith, the pop star." Calvin Harris and Kanye West represent that. I want an authentic Fresh Prince Hip-Hop album. I can't imagine Calvin Harris contributing to that. Plus, Kanye (even in his prime), has never produced anything on the level of Jeff's best work. The difference is that Jeff does it for the love and for the art. Kanye as long been a slave to money, fame, attention, and his own arrogance. -
Will on new Kanye Album "So Help Me God"
JumpinJack AJ replied to Booga's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Agreed. Their styles are values are so different that it's incredibly hard to predict what could come of it. You have one of the best loved entertainers working with one of the most hated. It's just weird. I'm optimistic, but I can't help but continue asking "Will, did you hear that Dayne Jordan album? Why work with anyone other than the man who established your foundation as an entertainer?" -
Will on new Kanye Album "So Help Me God"
JumpinJack AJ replied to Booga's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I don't mind hearing my favorite emcee on a Kanye song...I just don't want Kanye working on his music. The whole thing just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Unless Kanye revisits principles of earlier production, I'm struggling to see how he can provide the right sound. -
