Man, i've been listening 2 alot of old school CDs recently. And i'm really missing what Hip-Hop groups used 2 be like. Sure, there are groups like Arrested Development, 4th Avenue Jones,' De La Soul, and a hand full of underground/indie groups are keeping the quality music coming. AD and De La of course have old school and early 90's roots. But lets be real, not even many underground or non-commercial groups actually balance out meaningful lyrics, dope production, chemistry, and a true friendship or bond. I'm lookin' at JJ+FP, Salt-N-Pepa, Kid N' Play, Run-DMC, A Tribe Called Quest, Fu Schnickens, Public Enemy, Eric B. + Rakim, Pete Rock + CL Smooth, A Tribe Called Quest, Whodini, Arrested Development, The Fugees, Brand Nubian, and so on. They are all different...u may like some of the...u might not. But when u look at them all, from their early stuff 2 their most recent stuff. U see a consistency in the lyrics. U hear lyrics that are anything from funny and simple 2 deep and complex...but every lyric has a purpose. Every lyric waz thought out. U hear the beats...and most of them were good. Not every song might be amazing, but the production would be consistently good enough that skipping thru' the album was simply an option...not something that waz done often. And most importantly..INTERACTION. When u are JJ+FP adlibing back and forth...it's JJ+FP. When u hear Run and DMC going back and forth during a verse...it just fits and flows like wather. When Kid N' Play would stop in the middle of a song 2 do a dance break...it waz rehearsed but natural. When CL Smooth waz just flowing over a Pete Rock beat, u could feel the connection between them even if Pete Rock wazn't rapping or adlibbing on the track. When u have Chuck D and Flavour Flav on a track 2gether, they may have 2 totally different voices and styles....but what one didn't have or had that didn't appeal 2 the other...the other one did or didn't...know what i mean? On top of that, u could tell these groups made music 2gether cuz they loved it. Whodini could never just write the same song individually...they DID IT 2GETHER. When u hear a D12 song...u can tell Bizzare wrote his verse over a lunch break, Eminem wrote his a year ago which is what the whole song is based off of, and so on...then they just put it 2gether in a cut-n-paste song. I really miss the good old dayz. When is it gonna come full circle?? G-Unit, DTP, D12, and all these other groups. They suck! They have nothing going 4 them. In the meantime, i guess, like in most things with Hip-Hop music...we have 2 look 2 the old stuff 4 the good stuff.

SALT-N-PEPA - Hyped On The Mic A Salt With A Deadly Pepa (1988)

Thanx 4 posting that. I side with Oprah on this. Ludacris and 50 Cent are in a position where they could make a difference in young people's lives. But they don't...they make watered down music with crappy lyrics that often glorify the wrong things in life. I don't respect them or their music. I know there are some Ludacris fans here...so don't take what i say 2 seriously. But if Oprah didn't invite him...he didn't need 2 be there. And Ludacris saying he waz there as an actor is really stupid. 2 say she only should have talked to about his acting is rediculous. Oprah is smart and does her part 2 change peoples lives. Ludacris...and especially 50 Cent are a waste 2 society.

The Best of DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince
JumpinJack AJ replied to Hero1's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
There's won't be other trax added...it just wouldn't make sense. It's The Best of...and those are all the main singles. Whoever typed up one of those tracklistings just made some mistakes. Why would they accidentally leave so many trax off it and how would they fit 21 JJ+FP trax on 1 CD?!? -

Whodini - Freaks Come out at Night Appreciation
JumpinJack AJ replied to Hero1's topic in Caught in the Middle
That song is dope...it's definitly stood the test of time. It still pops up on compilation CDs and soundtrack regularly. It's funny u brought up Whodini. Just this past weekend i found a Terminator X CD single that featured Whodini from 1994. I had 2 pick it up. -
Well, when we saw those recent pix of FP with his shaved head, people tripped. I don't know why, it's just hair...but whenever he dose something different, people always bug out since we are used 2 his hair always looking the same. AOL had a feature on celebrity's recent hair changes and had their users vote on which style they liked better. FP waz one of the 1st few. They had 2 good pix of him...one with hair and one without. When i voted, the results were WITH HAIR - 82% WITHOUT HAIR - 18% This waz silly but i thought i'd share. Whoever else has AOL should find it and vote later and post the updated results later.

FP is lookin' smooth!! Check that suit!! Thanx 4 sharing!

The Things That U Do Music Video
JumpinJack AJ replied to Hero1's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Yeah, this is definitly in my top 3 videos they've done. I actually say it on TV twice...and i own a promo music video tape that contains the video. Jive needs 2 release a JJ+FP music video DVD with the new Greatest Hits album so we can finally have this on DVD. -
NEW! LL Cool J - Freeze (Remix) ft. Lloyd Banks
JumpinJack AJ replied to The Definition's topic in Caught in the Middle
For some reason, my computer stopped downloading this at just over a minute. The beat isn't bad, but it's nothing special either...very common. LL sounds good on it, but i think the lyrics are actually pretty weak when compared 2 his usual stuff. I didn't get 2 the LLoyd Banks part...which is good, cuz i know him, his annoying voice, pointless, and wack lyrics would annoy me. I doubt LL will waste time making a video 4 this remix. From the minute i head of it, it's not even a really a remix...the lyrics have nothing 2 do with the original. -
Yeah, this has been brought up b4...but the original post said it waz dropping in early June. The album cover wasn't posted either. There may not be anything new here...but i'm gonna get it as long as it $10 or cheaper...which i'm sure it will be.

Code Red Music Video YouTube Idea
JumpinJack AJ replied to Hero1's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I've had ideas 4 this video since i 1st heard the song. If i had the resorces 2 really make it happen, i'd do it. -
Today i came across the book The Book of Hip-Hop Cover Art. I had 2 pick it up. Of course i haven't had time 2 read it yet...but while i waz flippin' thru' it, i came across page 42, which featured the JJ+FP "Rock The House" cover. I skimmed the pages around it and i don't think they actually talk about JJ+FP, but the recognition is cool none the less. In the Acknowledgments at the end, the writer says "The biggest thanks of all go to my loved ones for their never ending support, and to my partner in rhyme, Dan Greenpeace. He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper." So he's definitly a JJ+FP fan. On a non-JJ+FP related note...all real Hip-Hop fans should check for this book. I've only got 2 check out the pictures and i love it. There's also an interview with Chuck D in the book. For those of u living in the US, i found this book in Borders on the clearence book shelves for only $5.99.

LL Cool J says 'no' to reality TV
JumpinJack AJ replied to Da Brakes's topic in Caught in the Middle
Thank God he isn't doing reality TV. LL is funny and has alot things that people of all ages could learn from, but if it's him being followed by cameras, that would be boring like everything else. -

Grandmaster Flash vs DJ Jazzy Jeff
JumpinJack AJ replied to markwinfield1's topic in Caught in the Middle
Silly topic...i'm not even gonna chose. Grandmaster Flash is a legend and one of the pioneers of the pioneers. Grandmaster Flash is DJ Jazzy Jeff's favorite DJ. Grandmaster Flash has tons of respect for DJ Jazzy Jeff. DJ Jazzy Jeff took what Grandmaster Flash started and took it 2 a different level and 2 the pop charts...and he's still doin' it all over the world. DJ Jazzy Jeff is probably the most popular DJ ever, with the mixtapes and solo albums, the JJ+FP stuff, doing commericals and being on one of the most popular TV shows of all time....what other DJ has done that much and for that length of time. -
Master P Filing $500 Mill. Lawsuit To Columbia Records
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
What i waz saying waz that Master P's and Lil' Romeo's music has always sucked. In Hip-Hop and Rap, commerical fame is usually a passing thing that doesn't last more than 5 years for an artist...if that. The only reason people like FP and LL and Snoop are still in the game and have comparable levels of fame 2 earlier in their careers is cuz they put in the time, have heart 4 what they do, and usually put out high quality stuff. People like Master P make crappy music and it becomes a popular trendy thing for a song or 2...or about 5 years of fame. Then it fades away or turns in2 a lower level of fame 4 the rest of the career. So when people like Master P see that their commerical career is dead 4 the most part, and your son, your only hope of more fame and income, isn't doing what u expected. U get all bent out of shape...so u start relying on gimmicks and becoming bitter at the game. -
