GINUWINE - Last Chance A Man's Thoughts (2009) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxoZ3IxxPeE What brand of crack are you on?!?! Ginuwine is one of the best to ever do it!! He was never on Bad Boy. His 1st 2 albums were very involved with Timbaland and Static (from Playa...R.I.P.). After that he branched out and only occasionally worked with Tim. I was disappointed when he started standing on his own (away from the sound Timbaland provided him) but was happy that his sound only became more timeless and not too far from what he started out with.

I love the was you are racing the rhyme on this. Nobody ever "exerts" themselves in their flow anymore. I'll have to listen 2 it again later 2 hear the lyrics. Nice work. My favorite part...the Shabba Ranks dance...lol.

That is my least favorite song off of Salon Stories. It also happens 2 be the kinda song that could get him some mainstream followers tho.' GINUWINE - When We Make Love Back II Basics (2005) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaJKGRS3DjU How come it's so hard to find R-N-B like this these days?!

Visqo, I hated that 1st joint...but I love the 2 u just posted! The Pacewon's raspy voice just made me break out some Nine. This was a freakin' classic back in the day! NINE - Whucha Want Nine Livez (1994)

Yeah, I 1st heard this on Facebook. I think redoing a song is a risky move. The plus side is that you'll get people checking out the song that ordinarily wouldn't check it out but u also have the tough challenge of making your take on it as dope as the song you are redoing. I love the flow on the 1st verse. I love the lyrics to the 2nd verse but I think the flow loses it's pace just a little bit. I also feel like you are definitely good but possibly a bit reserved since it's a 1st recording. U sounded a bit stiff here or there (mostly on the adlibs). Almost like you are holding back. Just loosen up a bit before the next recording. Nice effort and nice work making the song your own with those lyrics. We'll be waiting for the next thing.

WHODINI - 5 Minutes of Funk Escape (1984) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSnvkGhRuac Whodini is just classic. In a class all their own. I checked that last song posted. I gotta say that the emcee seemed a bit one-dimensional and the beat was so simplistic...but the worse thing was the guy on the hook. He was so awful I couldn't give the rest of the song a chance. I'll check another song by them tho.'

Most people on this board are a fan of old school Hip-Hop and already know who Young MC is. :::Moving this to the off-topic board:::

If that's true it's because they count double-disc albums as 2 CDs being sold....meaning that it's probably not. Has anything passed Please Hammer, Don't Hurt 'Em or CRaZYSeXyCOol (tho' some would consider that an R-N-B album)? I need 2 listen 2 Big Boi's album. I have to be honest tho.' I'm interested in an new OutKast album, but I'm not excited about it. Back in the 90's they felt like a group...like one unit. They were down to earth but artsy and with an edge. It seems like like their 3rd and 4th album just had them evolving to something that I'm not that into anymore. They don't feel like a real group anymore. They seemed like collaborating artists instead. It just seems like their experimental side as taken them a bit 2 far from their original formula in my opinion. Let's be real, between Speakerboxxx /The Love Below and Idlewild...we haven't had an OutKast studio album in 10 years! 1 was 2 solo discs and the other was a soundtrack...and not very good one at that. I hope this time away brings them back 2 basics.

That 1st pic looks like it was from 89-90 and the 2nd from 90-91. I kinda doubt they were dating. There would be rumors about that. FP has shown love 2 Mariah. In late 90's interviews he would mention her as one of his favorite artists and there was also a pic of him posing with her and Jay-Z from 1998/1999. I don't see why y'all are thrown back by Mariah in those pix. She looked like that when she came out in 1990...she just didn't dress like that or do her hair like that.

LL COOL J NOT RUSHING NEW ALBUM
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Caught in the Middle
I'm with you on that! This should be the album that LL Cool J and Fresh Prince finally work together. I'm tempted to start a Facebook cause on this! If I did, would you guys support it. This would be a good time to push the return of the Fresh Prince again. We've kinda let it die. -
Visqo, Snow never went anywhere. He's constantly released music...most of it only overseas since 1999 tho.' His last studio album was in 2003 but he's constantly touring, collaborating, and working on a new album. Last year he released an excellent single called "Adore You." 20 B-LO + SNOW - So Sweet ? This isn't long or anything but it's good 2 read. I can't wait for the new album. Exit 13 isn't even 2 years old yet so I wouldn't want him to rush it. My main issue with Exit 13 is that I felt he did compromise with the stuff on the radio. So reading what he said in this sounds like he doing things right. Thank goodness we got this album to look forward to. ------------------------------------------------------ LL Cool J Not Rushing Next Album Thursday, 08 July 2010 | Written by Jason Hip Hop vet LL Cool J recently talked about his post-retirement album saying he isn't rushing to get it finished. "I'm starting to think about it and I am going to do it," he told Extra when asked about a possible musical comeback. "The key is for me is that when I do it, it has to be really important and it has to be something original. It can't be me trying to sound like what's acceptable because this is what is played on the radio today because that is so tired and boring and no one really cares about it...It has to be something with some substance and some depth...Until I can create that kind of record I'm not putting anything out. I don't care how many years it takes."

And by the way, I love the Nsync too. I didn't like them at all but I couldn't front on that song. It's amazing. And even tho' I don't like 50 Cent, I did like "21 Questions" when it comes to the commercial songs on the radio. SNOW - Murder Love Murder Love (1995) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0WXJCCTGjo

RUN-DMC REUNION EVENTUALLY A POSSIBILITY
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Caught in the Middle
I agree with both of u. I understand why they retired Run-DMC but at the same time, I think occasional project (album, tour) would only be honoring JMJ. They don't need a new DJ. They could do their shows with a live band or just rap to a backtrack of their classic beats. One other thought, doesn't one of JMJ's sons DJ? I just know that is TLC's number 1 fan (sorry, Julie) I love seeing footage of them performing their hit songs, full with old and new dances with Left Eye doing her thing on the concert screens. Life is much better knowing they are still active instead of hanging up the mics. -
Yeah, I love that he's broken the mold of his previous stuff. No goofy annoying song as the lead single. He's done acting stupider than he is. He's done dressing like an 18 year old thug-wanna be. Even though I like Dr. Dre, I think his lack of involvement on this album is the main reason the sound of the album is so fresh and new. D12 also isn't on the album which is great cuz they are awful (tho' I liked "How Come" and cracked up at "My Band"). Now if only he can stop doing songs with wack rappers like Lil' Wayne and Drake.

I'm so torn. Part of me would love to read it and part of me wants 2 wait til it hits theaters. It's been awhile since I had a scoop on JJ+FP before the public...so part of me loves the idea of getting some of that again.

I like that it's leaving an option for them to do something 2gether in the future but that they aren't doing something just 2 do it... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Run DMC Reunion Update from DMC TheBoomBox.com On March 1, Roots drummer Questlove announced the lineup for the group's upcoming Third Annual Roots Picnic. Quest posted a Twitvid revealing that performers at the June 5 show would include the Clipse, Vampire Weekend and Das Racist, in addition to a special reunion performance. "This is a reunion we thought we would never get," Quest said. "We've been waiting to make this reunion happen for the longest, it's so incredible, I don't even want to tell you who it is," he finished, before throwing on a thick gold chain, a black hat and striking a pose, which hinted that Run-DMC would take the stage this summer. The video sent the blogosphere buzzing with news that the remaining members of the legendary hip-hop group would take the stage this summer, but when The BoomBox caught up with Run-DMC member Darryl Matthew McDaniels -- aka D.M.C. -- in New York City on Thursday, April 15, the emcee squashed all hopes of a reunion in the near future. "That's not gonna happen," McDaniels told The BoomBox. "For me, personally, I'll put it like this...As of now, a reunion is possible, but it's really got to make bigger sense, because a lot of people say Run-DMC was much more than just a rap group to them." McDaniels went on to explain that a reunion performance would disrespect the legacy of the late Jam Master Jay, who was murdered in a Queens, New York, recording studio in 2002. "People hit me with all the groups that did get back together after death, but I just feel I can't replace my drummer. Do you really want to see me and Run running around without Jay back there? With some other DJ? It'll be disrespectful," McDaniels said. "I didn't get into this for show business, I didn't get into this to be famous, I didn't even get into this to be the best rapper in the world." "After John Lennon got killed, did the Beatles get back together?" he asked, trying to express the emotional stress that a reunion would trigger. "So if they say Run-DMC are the Beatles of hip-hop, Public Enemy are the Rolling Stones and then you go down the line, with Jay-Z as the Sinatra, etc, we would be doing a disservice to our own legacy if we get back together now," he said. "We can probably get back together, but it's got to be in a different form. So it's not going to happen yet." McDaniels, who has been an active advocate for children charities in recent years, is currently at work on his second solo album, 'Origins of Block Music,' which is slated for a summer release.
