  1. I'm listening to the recently leaked Will.I.Am's "songs for girls"...its kinda hot....feel good rhythms with a generally experimental and upbeat vibe....Great album to play when you chill out on a sunny day. The beats kinda reminds me of Pharrell, Timbo or the Graduation Kanye...

On the down side,as the title suggests the subject matter is sort of repetitive, but I guess when your feeling the vibe it doesn't matter. Just don't expect lyrical wizardry and you won't be disappointed.

I can see this album being in the same vain as Pharrell's last one...very experimental

  2. http://www.xxlmag.com/online/?p=13913

Apparently he's droppin a new track tomorrow....

I read the title of the album is "Boss Hova" as of now...allhiphop.com is reporting this..HAHAHAH but xxlmag.com is quoted saying: "Sorry allsh*tstop, it ain’t called Boss Hova. It’s called American Gangster. Inspired somewhat by the movie of the same name, but it’s a full studio album, no soundtrack"

I don't think xxlmag.com is anywhere near as good as allhiphop.com though..

But november 6? I heard nothing on the date

everyone is saying he's got a blueprint sound to it though...sweeeet

  3. well 50 already finished is last album then he is releasin a Greatest Hits, see this is the problem w/ hip-hop/rap, everyone of the fans are hatin on another mas riches just because they think he doesnt deserve it well excuse 50 for coming from nothing to sumthing aka the American Dream

Yep the american dream is acting like a jerk to everyone you know, especially guys like Nas, Master P, and Jay-Z...you know...the guys that gave him his first tours, while marketing your act, a sexual and violent act, toward the 11 to 14 year old girl demographic. Oh and don't forget the macho-anti-women sentiments. Remember, women are just objects in Americans' eyes....

Please, the guy is the classic jerk who will step on anyone and everyone just to satisfy his own greed...

    That's not American...we're competitive...but there's a line.

  4. Hey ya'll heres my review on Fabolous "From Nothing 2 Something"

    Overall Rating..7.5/10

To all those fab fans its defitenly an album to catch, hip hop fans maybe u like it

maybe you won't, it's not the best album of the year, but I like it, I can get used

to the tracks I don't like, like i did with other fab albums....

    Peace.

    Hm..

Idk man...I heard this back in June (early advance) and I was very disappointed that only one song(?) was without a special guest. Yes it's definitely strides ahead of his last album...where the beats were whack and rhymes were lazy. The Akon song just feels like the same thing Akon's known to do. "Return of the Hustle" was the beat Jay passed up on for Dig-a-Hole...I'm not too crazy about it. I can't stand Timbaland so the second "Make me better" came on, I cringed. Diamonds is annoying...Gangsta Don't Play is Fabolous trying to follow up Game's hit "It's Okay"....First Time was repetitive...Brooklyn was basically a remake of the bonus track Fab was on for Notorious B.I.G. Duets...Jokes on You is ok....What Should I do is awesome if unoriginal and Loso's way (pun intended lol) to copy Ludacris with the last track being a story about someone going through a struggle....I'm the Man is meh...Baby Don't Go is really enjoyable if not for the kiddish bells...and Dupri could shut up...but I do enjoy that song.

Don't get me wrong...Fab's flow was nice....lyrically he didn't seem lazy unlike his last effort...so I did enjoy this for a little bit.

    I'd give it a **1/2 for being a straight radio-single filled CD.

  5. I don't think you can say it's the end for someone who sold 660, 000 in their first week.. 50 is on a nice downward trend though..

Yes he sold 660k...but he also put in more marketing than ever. 6 singles before the album releases? The amount of publicity and advertising dollars he and Interscope put in?

The thing is, no company is going to agree to put the same amount of PR dollars in for a guy who didn't hit ridiculous numbers associated with ridiculous advertising.

If he had put in the amount of PR work with Interscope as he did on the Massacre and still sold 660k, then yes Interscope would still be all over him...but these numbers don't make up for the effort the label put forward.

    And they'll remember that.

The funniest thing I must say though...50 attacks Def Jam for their practices...and then Interscope for their "reactionary" practices...Both Def Jam and Interscope are owned by the same company...so this "Competition" has only made ridiculous money for the heads at Universal.

50 can say "I Get Money" but like Master P told him in a recent BET interview (where 50 acted humble! He actually basically apologized for "misunderstanding" Master P's recent moves to clean up his act).....You can say you're on your way to a billion...there are guys moving equities with annual cash flow of billions easily.

That's why I'm gonna be on Wall Street. :kool:

  6. and the number 1 selling album in the UK this week is..... Kanye, 50 got second woohoo. i havnt got any numbers yet.

the funny thing is..you give it a month and all the slow country fans will eventually pick up chesney's album. I believe that it will end up Kanye as first, Chesney second, and then 50.

    that's gonna kill 50.

and who else is enjoying that T.I can't brag about his sales this time? I mean I like the guy but it was bordering on 50-ego when he complained ludacris got the award and t.i had the numbers

  7. I got a question: if I haven't bought either of Kanye's first two albums and heard them in their entirety, is there any point in buying this one (other than to spite 50)?

If you enjoy the creativity in rapping/rhyming but also enjoy a wide range of music instrumentals, like soul, rock, alternative, techno...then you'll enjoy Kanye's album simply for the different approach.

  8. I like Chamillionaire. I doubt i'll ever call him one of the best emcees but when it comes 2 his commerical counter parts, he's light years ahead of the other guys. Not only does he bring more lyrics and more talent, he actually seems like a smart guy.

I'll peep his album 2morrow and if it's good, i'll be sure 2 get it soon.

The real release i'm getting 2morrow is the new Jagged Edge album. U can't go wrong with J.E. R-N-B has been consistantly keeping it's head above water commercially. And J.E. are the only ones who are pretty much a sureshot 2 bring a quality R-N-B album...until Usher's next one drops. I just hope it's a be more consistant then their last.

you gotta let us know how the JE album is...i'm not as much on their stuff but if I hear it's worth it, i'll take a listen

  9. We have all this hype for tomorrow...and for a side note...don't forget why September 11 is such an important date in world history. Music is a nice way to try and find new ways to remember such a date, but we can't forget the tragedy in 2001.

With that said, there's hype like crazy for Kanye and 50. I saw a commercial during an Eagles game for Kanye West's album??? I haven't seen that since 2002.

Well, Chamillionaire's "Ultimate Victory" is being prepped for a September 18th release, and it leaked on the 5th.

Since I was camping out since last monday for the Penn State University game against Notre Dame to be front row and ALL OVER ESPN :wickedwisdom: ...I haven't had the chance to listen to the album....P.S...unless you live under a rock, it was the second largest attendance at Beaver Stadium ever and we crushed the Irish!!

Now I am finally getting to hear this, so here's my abbreviated review:

    01. The Morning News- Takes shots at Snap music calling it crap music. I like it, sets the tone for cool south style with intelligent lyrics. Talks about CEO's and credit...hm. Fun.

    02. Hip Hop Police feat. Slick Rick- We all heard this and it's still fun. I love it.

    03. Standing Ovation- The guitar is repetitive. I don't care much for the track.

    04. Won't Let You Down- Sounds like a T-Pain wannabe is on the hook....but other than that it tells broke-lazy people to get up off their a$$es and earn a living. Also he attacks the guys who act tough and wealthy when they could be saving and getting an education.

    05. Industry Groupie- J.R. Rotem did a wonder with this track. I like the sample. It's pretty much the same thing (and he references it to) "Wouldn't Get Far" and "Gold Digger"...fun because the beat keeps rolling on.

    06. Pimp Mode feat. Bun B- Slow country-laced beat. Not my style. Interesting switch up though.

    07. Rock Star feat. Lil Wayne- I love the guitar riff, plus the boom-boom-clap beat. I don't like that Lil Wayne cursed repeatedly on this so they had to wipe it out. Why doesn't he follow the rules as a guest on Chamillionaire's album? Is it that tough? Snoop had no problem on Lost and Found....

    08. Skit- Mehhhh. Kinda funny at one point but not really at all.

    09. Bill Collecta feat. Krayzie Bone- I love it. It's going to be the next single. On the same lines of Evening News in it's story talking. Title is pretty self-explanatory. I like...

    10. The Ultimate Vacation- WOW, I love the california feel. Like a surfer's song haha. Funnnnn. I woulda loved listening to this on the beach...now I'll listen to it in the freezing happy valley that is penn state...

    11. Come Back to the Streets- I'm not a fan of this song. I just don't like it. The skit included is redeeming...a little.

    12. I think I love you- He used an organ and then completely cut out of it to a completely different set of instruments?? I like it because he's talking about how money can curve all your usual feelings and intentions. ...REDEEMING PART: It then cuts into a story regarding an abusive husband/boyfriend. I like this part because he picks up the tempo and delivers emotion on it.

    13. Evening News- My favorite track so far listening to this CD. I loved it when it came out and still can't get over its creativity.

    14. Welcome to the South feat. Pimp C- Throwaway south boasting track. Not enjoyable.

    15. You Must Be Crazy feat. Lil Ken- This beat is awesome....I can't even describe it. Fun. Feels like it would be something an old school dj would make if he had the tools of today. Ol' School crafting with new music production software.....niccceeee. Flow is soo sick. Song just keeps moving. More political talking....Lil Ken is decent by the way..

    16. Me Breakin Up- I'm indifferent to this track. I wanna know who's doing the ad-libs...some soul singer...I guess some would like this, I'm more just sitting on it.

    17. Skit- Stuck in the Ghetto feat. Tony Henry- Tony Henry has a voice. An amazing voice. I like this. One guitar, no bass. Henry really is stealing the show. I now am in the mood for some soul listening.

    18. Rocky Rode feat Devin the Dude- The thunder sounds are cool. The rest of the song is not too memorable...but after the song Chamillionaire talks in the same way that Will Smith did on "Holly Roller"...talking about how we never talk to God unless we need him...we never ask for change until it affects us negatively... I really like his social commentary.

    19. Ultimate Victory- Soul-laced track and then it switches to a rough Fort Minor feel...really feels like Chamillionaire is opening up. I enjoy this track BIG TIME. The violins are awesome. Feels like a tie between an italian composer's work and a new york linkin park song. Awesome!

interesting side note...seems like he let go of the "Not a Criminal feat Kelis" song since it didn't really follow the themes he tried to present.

My Rating: *** out of 5. I hated Chamillionaire and everything he did before this album. I couldn't stand the guy. I was just so annoyed by his direction and cliche themes. Now, I think his music is more mature but still fun. I have a natural distaste for the southern style of instrumentals so it was tough for me to get into much of the tracks. That being said, I think he did a good job and definitely has 4 to 5 standouts on the CD. I think the fight to keep a theme was hard for Chamillionaire and you could hear it. His honest attempt is commendable but I think he showed some limitations and probably was frustrated with the difficulty it seemed he had to produce an album with thoughtful themes rather than falling back into rap's comfort zone.

  10. Ha, at least we can agree on that. I think that song with Fall Out Boy sucks. But i don't like Fall Out Boy so that didn't help much in the 1st place. But people are going 2 Timbaland 2 albums. Just ask Justin Timberlake + Nelly Furtado (2 of the biggest artists with 2 of the biggest albums of the past year). Aaliyah, Ginuwine, Missy, and LL Cool J have also benifited from his executive album producing. Omarion, Bobby Valentino, and Pussycat Dolls all had hits with him this past year. And the big names like Snoop Dogg, Nas, and Jay-Z have all gotten hits with Timbaland in the past. 2 me, Tim is in the in the longevity game alongside Jazzy, Premier, Jay-Dee, Jermaine Durpi.

Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado are the only two currently who will go to him for albums yet neither are hip hop artists. All the names you've mentioned have not done so in recent years. As I have said, within the last 5 years, nothing he's brought to the table has been innovative. Before that, definitely. He used to be so creative that no one really could even compare. Yet, in the last 5 years I've seen nothing but laziness on his behalf.

Yes, Nas, Snoop and Jay have gone to Timbo for songs in the past, yet they haven't worked with him recently. Jay was reluctant to get on anything Timbaland made last year, even for Timbo's own last album. He passed over the beat now used for "Ayo Technology" when recording "Kingdom Come" and basically was pleaded with by Timbo to get on a remix for Shock Value. Nas, after the one song in 1999 I believe, hasn't gone to Timbaland for anything.

The only Timbaland song I can honestly was somewhat creative in the recent past was probably Busta Rhymes "Get Down" just for the acoustic feel.

And yes, I don't enjoy fallout boy as well so it was tough enough to muster the strength to listen to such a collaboration ha.

  11. but the track with Fall Out Boy on his album is brilliant

I completely disagree...that's actually one of the tracks that I'd reference in my argument. It's a live band with a new sound (relatively) and Timbaland put claps, a deeper bass, and then used a flanger on their guitar. It's really basic and to me, not innovative. He really only did audio engineering on their usual style, with his technique. Production was very limited on that track. He really just adapts their sound to his, rather than the other way. Where a pete rock or will.i.am are versatile regardless of the artist, Timbaland stays relatively stagnant.

  12. Timbaland is an originator. Reguardless of people's opinions of his music, he's always been an originator. His sound has been imitated (but never duplicated) since the late 90's. He's stayed fresh over the years. How many producers can u think of who have kept doing their thing since 1996? Commerically Jermaine Dupri is the only one who comes 2 mind. More on the Hip-Hop side of things, DJ Premier, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Dr. Dre (tho' most of that time has been dryspells), and Pete Rock are the only others doing their thing. Just Blaze, Scott Storch, Swizz Beats, and The Neptunes are all "new school." They have staying power 2 prove or they have dryspells and inconsistant sounds and success. Timbaland has kept the music coming in the mainstream and under the radar. Hundreds of talents go 2 him and rely on him for hits. On top of that, his a positive person who isn't wrapped up in the idea of fame and success AND, in my opinion, his solo albums (other than Shock Value) are some of the best Hip-Hop records done in the past decade.

Ain't nobody got anything on Timbaland. His longevity, staying power, talent, and originality are in a class all their own.

He was interviewed 3 months ago saying how he's too creative for the game and no one is on his level. He said that it's boring for him. To me he is the 50 cent of producers: egotistical...distinct in his sound, and repetitive in his technique...while limited in skill.

I haven't heard innovation for the last 5 years from Timbaland. I hear repetition. I hear deep bass sequences with a digitally enhanced snare. I hear no experimentation with sound but rather molding every new idea or old technique to this techno-based style Timbaland loves. He takes a rock band and shoves the bass on the drum way up...and then adds a couple snaps...maybe a swishing sound.

Yes, everyone goes to him for A SONG...but no one goes to him for AN ALBUM...because where a Pete Rock, a Kanye West, a Just Blaze, a Jonathan Rotem, a Jazzy Jeff, a Dr. Dre, a J. Dilla, a Scott Storch can produce a wide range of sounds and themes...Timbaland sticks with the one style.

I don't see any fresh style from a guy who puts the same fundamental sound on every track he does. He is very caught up in the fame and his own hype.

Also, his singles disrupt the flow of albums. If you look back, none of the candidates for last year's top Hip Hop albums had a Timbaland track. Nas, Game, and Jay-Z stayed away from the Timbaland sound. In doing so, the stayed away from conforming to the standard, uncreative movement to single over album.

    And here's the dagger:

Timbaland knows one thing. Europe has it right regarding the most catchy, most despensable genre of music. It's techno and for that, yes his music gets played over and over, since the voice on the track is different. All he does is take the hottest thing in Germany...like the beats he admitted to have plagerized. So the time for people to become fed up takes longer, yet eventually that sound saturates the market.

Kanye almost did so, and then took a huge course in production by collaborating with that composer on his Late Registration album.

I think Timbaland is one of the most overrated producers to have stepped foot into the game.
