  1. i think the saint's defensive lineman is also named will smith and i always, no matter what, take a second glance as i watched them beat a team that SHOULDA won the Super Bowl....aka the team from the home of the most diehard, passionate fans on earth...the Philadelphia Eagles.

  2. Another movie??? :shakehead:

What the hell did you expect?

The fact that its chess gets me excited, but Disney! I might be wrong but that movie could be REALLY bad.

Whats the latest good movie they made? Hmm... the Lion King was ok. Before that? The Jungle Book. Thats 30 years between... the odds arent too good with other words.

The Pirates of the Caribbean - Curse of the black pearl and Dead man's chest.

Yeah well.. dont agree really. But sure, they were both decent.

the one thing Disney should get credit for is really having a solid formula for these type of biography movies...the Rookie and such are well done movies on true stories.

  3. it's just a thought, but since R&B and rap are most prominent in urban and suburban settings, where technology is forced upon, in opposed to country where technology is less pushed, maybe that's why there is such a drastic slide in rap compared to country. These albums could be leaked in the country genre (and definitely rock), but I don't think there is as much a means to be aware of the leaks and take advantage of them.

  4. I think there's something wrong with me, I actually liked that movie. It wasn't a great movie by any means,

but I thoroughly enjoyed it and I don't see why it's considered one of the worst movies. I guess people love to hate.

ya it was fun...it goes with MIB2 and I, Robot in my mind in terms of how I like it...just fun, not bad, not amazing, but good

  5. HOLD ON ONE DAMN SECOND!

KRS-ONE and Nas have and never will be neck and neck

KRS-ONE is a God in HipHop. His knowledge and lyricism is that of a supreme endlessness. Nas himself would agree and 99% of true HipHoppas (those associated with the roots from day one) would also agree. Its no disrespect to Nas, but there shouldnt be any neck and neck comparisons with KRS unless its with other Gods such as Mele Mel, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Kool Moe Dee, Grandmaster Caz and others who's impact and contributions goes beyond words.

Theres just no neck and neck comparison with Nas and the others. What he's doing is great right now but it will take another 10 years to look back and see how it truly affected the craft of HipHop. Nas is on his way but to say that now he's neck and neck, it doesnt sit right with me.

True HipHoppas would agree with the statement that Nas has brought himself to the level of the aforementioned. His discography compared to any of those mentioned cannot be ignored. Nas and KRS-ONE both are legends in the game. Nas has done exactly what can be looked upon as great art along with every other person you just mentioned.

plus, nas WOULD agree as you said...because he is respectfully humble in that sense...

  6. Yes! Very weird. No offense 2 Nas, but i can't think of anyone KRS-One needs 2 be making a tribute 2. KRS-One is one of Hip-Hop's finest as well as Hip-Hop's biggest fan. However, as one of Hip-Hop's biggest fans, i'm really impressed with the way Nas has stepped up. And while i've liked some of his post stuff and hated some of his past stuff, he waz never truely a stand out talent until now.

Nas and KRS-One are neck and neck in terms of top MC's. Nas has always stepped to the plate and from the GATE was a standout...how quickly we forget Illmatic, I am..., then his Stillmatic, then his Street's Disciple-which was full of unbelievable rhymes.

If anything, it's just a right of passage saying "yes, Nas IS up with us: KRS, Rakim, Kane, all them..."

  7. How can u say that "Chosen One" doesn't fit in with L&F? I think it works great with it.

to me, "Chosen One" screams the "Born to Reign" track on the 2002 album, but completely digital compared to the chords used on that intro track.

And Lost and Found was about as far away from Born to Reign as anything, except for the use of strings in the "Lost and Found" track, but even that was higher produced.

  8. Especially with an artist like Will Smith, who's music output has seriously decreased as the years have gone on, it seems perplexing certain songs don't make the final album cut. For example, a song like "Coming to the Stage" seems like a perfect complement to "Party Starter" and "Switch." Yet it was left off the US album tracklist, in favor of what we've all heard. Now I'm not discrediting the other songs, as many times an artist needs to sacrifice "single" material for prevailing theme of the album.

Now I understand why "Holla Back" and "Who Am I" could not exist on the same album, as they both have different mixes of the same instrumentals, and the question will always be which one should have been included over the other. Also, a song like "The Chosen One" could be at best a mixtape song, as its creative beat is interesting, but a track that had no tie to "Lost and Found."

But sometimes I get curious as to what goes on in the studio to make the cut... like why was "I'm chillin" left off of Game's album (only to be released as a bonus track on iTunes) or why "The N" or "Shine On" are not on Nas' Hip Hop is Dead regular release...

I don't know...it's just a curiousity I've had brewing in my mind....and also on the mention of mixtapes, why has Will abstained from hosting one, maybe with a guy like Consequence or even laying down a few free tracks on a mixtape?

I'd love to hear some thoughts...

  9. I said it once and I'll say it again: Tra Knox was the best thing that album offered. It's a big, big, big lost that those guys broke up.

    they broke up??? :shakehead:

i thought they were gonna rocket into stardome, just like Robin thicke, everyone remembers his remix of switch on Lost and Found...and now look at him

  10. I think the audio quality isn't perfect...on top of that Madlib's beats are a little too crazy and Kweli's style has always been very different so I can see how this could put some people off.

Me being a BIG Kweli fan loved it...but it took me a few listens to appreciate properly.

me the same...but it should be expected that an album that has absolutely NO requirements (since it isn't on sale!) would exercise a very creative and unique flow...

  11. hiphops not dead... if you keep repeating it then your mind will subconsciously begin to re-act and think in that manner

in this instance, it isn't "repeating it until you believe it yourself" but rather, someone "telling you what you don't want to believe/hear"

ya it sux to admit it, but hip hop is dead. and by dead I mean not popular. Anyone can come out with a Hip hop album. but it won't be as successful as gangsta rap. period. nas won't sell 50 cent numbers. and some may say, "well 'Hip Hop is Dead' is a Hip hop album, and it's getting support, so how can Hip hop be dead?"

well let's be real, the only reason why the general fans and media care is because he's created controversy over the title, not because of his content.

and as Eric Bischoff says "Controversy Creates Cash"

  12. Allot of people attached Switch to Hitch, and I think that didnt help the Lost & Found sales at all.

but the album and the movie had no real connection. so I don't think it's fair to tie the two. And I don't believe many people actually did attach em. It woulda been different if he had a song with that title.

but in response to the topic, I believe yes and no.

    Success in moving units initially:yes.

success in over all quality of both products: no, one will inevitably fail in quality, as Will alluded to in that one song
