CA&E: So, what are your musical influences? WB: Man, everything... I've got a lot of Motown in me, but growing up, being a child of the late '70s early '80s, I am steeped in hip-hop, all the early stuff--Run DMC, Rakim, UTFO, Whodini, even Will Smith to a degree, like you can't call it old school, old school, but you know like in the mid-80s when he was doing his thing. I remember listening to him and when I'd freestyle--"Hey, I sound like that guy. That's cool!" But now, I love Outkast. I love the Roots. On the R&B end, I love Jill Scott, D'Angelo, Kanye West. I know I'm leaving out a lot of people. But I've got influences that are so weird or random, like, I love Elvis, I looove Elvis. James Brown is a huge influence, Marvin Gaye. I think even on the rock end, I love Lenny Kravitz, Journey, Foreigner. I think I'm one of the only brothers on the planet that can say that I like, like Skynyrd. we should compile a list .. we got u-god, kevin smith, ludacris, wayne brady..
I'm listening to "Stairway to Heaven" again... Very nice song! It's the version with the guitar solo in the middle! It was recorded in like '70/'71 I think, and in my opinion this is a fantastic song. I definitely don't agree with people saying about the "Satanic messages". Sure, they can play it backwards etc, but I think it was just unfortunate that it came out like that. Anyway, it's from their Fourth album (Untitled)... Some of the other songs on that are good too :thumb:
u hear that stairway to heaven covers album? pretty good! the rolf harris version is hilarious

jim.. if you want will smith off record labels..and to have full creative control..and be able to choose his singles and the way he is promoted then you gotta expext more delays.. all the record labels have merged..so theres only a few out their now..and they got everythin locked down..so its hard to release it independantly..especially when u wanna do it worldwide..that means u gotta go to each country and sell the album to a record label..its a lot of work... i think the bonus of the delays..is i think we will have a really dope album.. and more time for jeff and will to do more traxs is a good thing...

in one of the latest XXL's they had the top summer jams.. and had a top 10 from every year from 87 up to 97 i think... anyway for 1991 ..summertime wasnt no. 1!!! how the greatest rap summer joint wasnt no. 1 for 1991 is an absolute joke.. they had naughty by natures o.p.p. as no. for 91 and summertime was no. 2 ... they did however have a really kool picture of jazzy jeff and the fresh prince that i'd never seen before on the page...

jim then self combusted.. and his insides were splattered all over prince..which made him really mad!!! "after this humility i am going to..."
