-
DEFINITELY gonna get Laugh Now, Cry Later when it comes out.

Carlton: Will, you MUST change.
Will: Carlton, you MUST grow.
Carlton: Why don't you act like an adult?!
Will: Why don't you look like one?!

I was listenin to the radio one day and 50 Cent was a guest, and they decided to play a game.
The object was the DJ's would mention a name, and 50 would have to say the first thing that came to his head.
DJ: Will Smith
50: Good actor.
So I assume he's got SOME props for Will.
-
Yes. Even though I wished it would've done more I gotta say yes.
1. It sold 640,000+ copies in the US. How many rappers do that nowadays?
2. It sold that much from WILL SMITH, a rapper who DOESN'T CURSE. Too many people blindly label him as a "Joke", yet he sells more than Tony Yayo, Cassidy, Slim Thug, Fat Joe, etc.
3. He had a Top 10 single from the album.
4. It proved that his music career still has life after Born to Reign.
5. The most important point, it re-established his credibility for a lot of people. Will took a pretty big risk by speaking the truth about rap's current state, and hip hop fans have listened and agreed. People who were quick to diss Will before have opened their eyes about him.
As much as I would've loved for L&F to hit platinum in the US, I'm proud of what he's accomplished.
-
I believe it's a combination of airplay and sales.
-
It wasn't in L&F, but in "Freakin It", when he says something like "I read in rap pages they call me soft/ Yea, more like: MICROSOFT!"
Man that was one of the cheesiest lines EVER.
-
Man, Will has looked the same since '87. Pretty amazing.
-
And these sales are always a little overexaggerated. I'd say 20-21,000. Ouch.

199 KEYS*ALICIA DIARY OF ALICIA KEYS 5,447 8 5,058 4,287,245
KEYS*ALICIA = obviously the name of the artist
DIARY OF ALICIA KEYS = the name of the album
5,447 = the number of albums sold this current week
8 = sales have increased 8% from last week
5,058 = the number of albums sold LAST week
4,287,245 = the number of albums sold in total

Well, I sure do hope he rises. Anyway, have fun in Spain! I heard it's a really nice place to visit.
-
Yea, with Kazaa and all the other P2P networks, sales have dropped tremendously.
-
He should make somewhere around 26,000 this week. Nice rise. :2thumbs:
-
Excellent article.

"Ghetto Pack" :lolsign:
-
Oh yea, and this is Will's first Platinum single since "Summertime" in '91. WOOOOOOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
-
Go Will, it's ya birfday, it's ya birfday...
:wiggle:
-
Also add in the factors that people don't HAVE to buy the album when they could just download it. Tis a shame.
-
Man that news is awesome. Here's what I hope for in the following weeks:
June 21-28: Let's hope sales will stay over 30,000.
June 29-July 4: Boosted by the BET Awards, let's hope for 30,000-36,000
July 5-????: Sales boosted by (hopefully) new single!
-
LL Cool J's "Radio" should've been on there.
And I can't help but point out that Kanye West is arguably one of the most overrated rappers alive as of now. I'm sorry, his production skills are great, but his lyrics tend to be bad. And he has one of the top influential albums of the past 20 years???
-
Ouch on the Fat Joe sales...
-
Nope, not makin fun of him. He was just saying that more gangsta rappers get the spotlight in black radio, with Snoop being one of them.
-
Banks = murdered
Buck = murdered
Oliver....OlivIA = murdered
Yayo = murdered
50 = murdered
And I don't even like Game but damn that was pretty hot, besides all the crap about gun talk.

Gary Coleman was #1.
