FP feat. Kel Spencer "Uhhh"

:iagree: Will said that he's doing the music to please his fans not to be the top seller and that's what's he's done with "Lost and Found", like I said earlier if people don't have the album by now that means they ain't fans, this is his 9th album, not many rappers have made that many and been in the game so long, we should be grateful that Will still wants to entertain us fans 'cause he doesn't have to, he could be greedy and just stick to making $20 million a film and abandon his music fans like Marky Mark did.

DMX feat. Stephanie Mills "When I'm Nothin'"

Ok let's see what I'd do, hmm, I'd probably do exactly what you said there, and I'd try to call Snoop out on the phone and tell him to perform "Pump Ya Brakes" 'cause that'd get the thugs into "Lost and Found" even though it's probably one of the worst songs on the album 'cause I know they'd like it, who knows I'd probably even try to convince them to shoot a video if the sales go up 'cause of their performances, I'd also get Nicole S. out with Will to perform "If You Can't Dance"(Slide) even though that's another one of the worst songs on there 'cause that'd add sex appeal. :interesting: The reason for these ideas would be that we need to promote the worst songs on the album 1st since they'd be the most popular then we'd hit the audience with "Party Starter" and "Tell Me Why" after 'Pursuit Of Happiness' when the album's triple platinum, that's what I'd do.

I hope so..It will definitly end when the Hip Hop hype is over..I`m waiting for that Days..I know then the Wack artits will flop cause they don`t havy any Hype Sels.. ← Yeah that's what I'm sayin', we need Will Smith and LL Cool J toppin' the charts and wack rappers like 50 Cent and Mike Jones floppin' in their sales but at this point it looks like a dream, hopefully people come to their senses before it's too late. ← We don`t have to worry about LL and Will and them.. 50 maybe sels 3 or 2 times after each other 11.000000 Albums but that`s becaus he lives on the Hype of Hip Hop that is going around the World right now more than ever.. He won`t sell over 20 years each time 1.000000 like LL and Will cause when the Hype is over 50 doesn`t have his Teen Fans anymore and Real Rap fans aren`t buying his stuff.. give the Hype 1 or 2 more Years and then it`s`over! ← I ain't trippin' over it 'cause real mcs like LL and Will have been and are around for the long haul, so when 50 Cent's career's ended they'll still be out there making classics.

....Maybe if Will promotes it for 5 years and releases every song as a single with all of his life savings! :lolsign: It took 2 years for BWS to sell 9 million and it never sold less than 50K a week for most of the time, "L&F" fell under 50K a week in the 1st month of release and at this rate 5 years sounds wishful thinking too, he released singles 6 months apart then, it's taking too long for "Party Starter" to come out and "Switch" didn't have the success "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" had when it comes to video play, MTV played "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" all day, they played "Switch" like 10 times altogether, it ain't '97-99 anymore, he was in the game for 10 years at that point so that was amazing it blew up like it did more than any of the JJFP stuff previously but this is a different time now and Will Smith doesn't exist in the mind of the average commercial rap fan like he used to, they don't even know that Jazzy Jeff still DJs, the media disrespects him too when they ask him where have you been? He only tours every year that's all. :nhawong:

I think the "The Golden Age" was from 1980-1993, it started with "Rapper's Delight" and after "The Chronic" came out things started going downhill, it wasn't Dr. Dre's fault 'cause it's a dope album but other great albums and mcs that came out at that time started to get overshadowed: the popularity of JJFP, Run-Dmc, Public Enemy, Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Slick Rick, and KRS-ONE started to die, that's why JJFP's "Code Red" and Slick Rick's "The Ruler" get overlooked when talkin' about classic albums at that time, only the gangsta rappers like Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and 2Pac would get the most recognition, not that they weren't dope then, it was just the fact that the hip-hop game started becoming one dimensional and it wasn't "The Golden Age" where every rapper was accepted for their own styles, now I'd call "The Dark Age" since Pac and Biggie died 'cause I think basically everything popular from then to now will be forgotten years ahead while "The Golden Age" hip-hop will stand the test of time, you could buy an album from 15 years ago and still relate to it but you buy an album from last year now and it sounds outdated so don't trip so hard if "Lost and Found" doesn't outsell 50's "The Massacre" 'cause I think 10 years people'll like us who bought "Lost and Found" look back and say "damn I remember the way I felt back in 2005 when I heard it for the 1st time and it really touched my soul, I gotta throw it on right now for the 10000 time 'cause it still feels like the 1st time" while those who bought "The Massacre" will forget that they ever heard it 'cause it's just a phase in their life now that they'll gradually get over but real hip-hop lives forever.

Agreed... I don't think that we can speak definitively because none of us are sure of what the dynamics are behind the promotion of the album and we're not exactly sure of what the roles of the respective companies are. Promotion could have been, and can still be better. I hope none of ya'll are surprised... I've been saying that this could happen for a while now. ← I'm personally not surprised this could be expected, if there is a positive light out of all this I'd say even though "Switch" never made it to TRL or 106 & Park and get into heavy rotation like most rappers that have hit albums out, it still was able to be one of the top selling hip-hop albums this year, it didn't totally like it could've with what happened on "Born To Reign", of course it could be a lil' better if Will performed somethin' else but I really don't know how much better, the "Party Starter" video just needs to come out so we could see what happens, somebody has to release it, but since it's floppin' on radio and the album sales fell so much it might not get onto TRL and 106 & Park if there's not a huge audience behind the radioplay right now and there's lil' interest about the album, but it might too, they just have to try to release it, Will didn't really promote "Willenium" that much better either, he only promoted it for a couple months too and didn't have the tour he was originally planning to have but the album still went double platinum, more fans were interested in him back then too, this isn't his fault now, you can't force people that like that garbage out on the airwaves to like Will Smith, they're ignorant and that's the reason the rap game sucks right now, we got Will Smith and Common out there with the best albums this year but they're not sellin' as much as 50 Cent and Mike Jones, Common's gonna probably outsell Will a lil' bit eventually 'cause it seems that he's having a lil' better promotion with his singles but he ain't gonna do 50 Cent numbers either, which is a shame 'cause people need to hear that album too, that's hip-hop from the soul.
-
they still release albums u know. they've released i think 4 albums from 1998 till now. they just released an album this year called "Outlawz 4 Life". ← I borrowed "Novakane" from one of my friends in my high school a couple years ago who's a Pac/Outlawz fanatic, they got some good songs on there, he made me a tape of that, I haven't really checked out their other stuff but I'll take them over mostly any group out now, they are representin' the heart of hip-hop, "So Many Stories" and "Our Life" are such emotional songs, if you're a fan of "Tell Me Why" or "The Rain", you'd like those.
-
:word: I personally would rather listen to Fat Joe's "Get It Poppin'"(which I consider his worst song) over any of 50's corny singles too if I had to choose, 50 can't even put a good verse together let alone a good song.
-
Exactly, radio's already resistant towards playin' Will already, those other peeps that release many singles at once don't get rejected from gettin' played on the radio so you really can't compare Will to them, the singles could just cancel each other out and get no airplay, I personally wonder why it's taking so long for "Party Starter" to rise on the radio now though since "Switch" died a long time ago.

Thank you for going back on topic man, come on y'all we're already discussing about the "Lost and Found" situation on the Big Will forum, if anybody else talks about it here, I'll lock up this topic, thank you, I won't mention it no more here either, lol, the video didn't show, end of story. :daveuidiot:

are you serious? Will performed Switch over 20 times on so many shows..did concerts.. did interviews..thats the most hes done in probably 15 years.. Because Interscope delayed party starter so will couldnt perform it and promote it he's not gonna be able to do with party starter what he did with Switch.. I don't see why anyone should blame Will..he's done nothing but work tirelessly to promote the album..interscopes done nothing..except delay things and make it harder for him :damnlorettas: ← :word: This is more like "Code Red" situation, that was probably the best promoted JJFP album and this is the best promoted Big Will album, although sales might not reflect that, I think the problem is that most commercial rap fans don't give Will a chance and just like that gangsta crap, I've been on a lot of commercial rap fans and it's quite hard to persuade them, even when I show them the lyrics to "Party Starter" to still call Will a fag and think he's soft, I could even post up a couple of them if you want me to, they're just too ignorant to give him a chance.
-
I see what you mean man...i've got that same feeling! To Ted, Will said that he would be doing music for like 6 months or so when Lost & Found came out! Why couldn't he have done it for a whole year? No movies, no nothing, just music...going on tour, making video's and some remixes! Putting your album out there and only releasing one single is not going to help you sell more records! People went out and bought the album because of Switch, if Party Starter was released in June/July people who didn't buy it when it dropped could have bought it then! And yeah, Will did some performances, but what did he do? He did Switch and Summertime everytime...please man, he had a new cd out with hot, fresh songs...he could have done Party Starter, I Wish I Made That and even Tell Me Why if he really wanted! Tell Me Why would have been perfect on Live 8! But once again he did Switch and Summertime! How the hell do you want people to buy your album if all you perform is the same old single? ← Well doesn't 50 Cent's songs all sound the same, I don't get what would make so many people wanna buy his album? Common's doin' a lot of performances right now, set to go on tour, released a couple remixes along with his 2 singles, plus is set to release another video, so is he platinum yet either? Will could perform the whole album and some people would still not wanna hear buy it 'cause they love 50 Cent. I think the album should've sold more when it came out, it had a horrible 1st week, only 90K sold, it should've been gold the first week. Not that many people wanna see hip-hop back to the golden days, face it man.
-
Even if Will releases 5 singles in 3 months that doesn't mean that the album would do 50 Cent numbers not 'cause he can't compete with 50 Cent but more people love gangsta rap, ← I've never said he'd do 50 cent kinda numbers ted. And I don't think anyone can know that for sure cause will didn't do it. Listen, it's been almost 5-6 months since the album release, how many rappers, I don't care if this is gangsta rappers or any kinda music singer, who sold 500k on only 1 single for a period of 5+ months. If 1 singer can do it like this, I am quite sure with good marketing that album would have sold a couple platinums, maybe 4, maybe 6, maybe even more then 50, that's something we can't discuss about cause we don't know. But 1 thing is for sure ted, if your album only gets to release 1 single for a period of 6 months, and you still manage to sell 500k + (actually will achieved these numbers quite fast 3 months orso) then that's HUGE. With good marketing it would have sold a couple platinum, and with a good quantity of quality HIT songs in the album, you just can't go wrong. Just cause the majority of the music industry loves gangsta rap, doesn't equal to the fact that you can't outsell 50, or even be close to those kinda numbers, I for 1 strongly believe that with a strong marketing will smith's latest album L&F would have been multi platinum. I rest my case ← You don't realise all the hype the album had when it came out? It should've sold 500K the 1st week like all the gangsta rap albums do but people didn't want it like that, I think 50 Cent sold 900K the 1st week it was released, it's been 5 months since "Lost and Found" came out so that means it should be multi platinum already, he waited months to release singles for "Big Willie Style" and even did filming in between, less performances on TV too, he got married in between as well, and the album still did well 'cause Will was more popular then, he ain't that popular now in music and no matter what he does he still won't be sadly, I wish that he was still, don't get me wrong, but millions don't feel that way so it ain't happening. Will spent more months promoting "Lost and Found" than he does promoting movies 'cause people go out to see his movies right away but to get people to buy 'Lost and Found' is like pulling teeth. btw, what's so unique about 50 Cent's singles? They all sound like the same song to me, like Fat Joe said when he dissed him, "Is it just me or doesn't "Candy Shop" sound like "Magic Stick"?", he's not really releasing anything different for people to wanna buy the album, they're all club songs that ain't quality either, I think "Switch" is better than all of them, people just buy the album 'cause they like him, Will could release different types of songs from the album and still not many people might not wanna buy it 'cause they don't like him, people don't buy your music 'cause they like your single, people buy it 'cause of your image, Will did release different type singles for "Big Willie Style" but people liked him and were more open towards positive rap at the time of Biggie and Pac's deaths so they embraced Will then, but now people don't wanna buy an album that doesn't have curses in it since 99% of albums have parental advisory labels and all the ones that've outsold Will do have 'em, not many want hip-hop to go back to what it used to be like we do.
-
If more people bought the album when he came out he'd be able to be more into music but right now he gets the impression that the public just wants him to act and doesn't like his rapping anymore 'cause the public is into 50 Cent now, LL's starting to drift away from rapping too since "The Definition" didn't sell what it would've, he cancelled his tour and never went back once the album fell off the charts, now he's working on a drama series and a few movies. Will said that rappers shouldn't curse in their songs 6 years ago on the MTV awards and mostly everybody in the hip-hop industry dissed him for that so he ain't getting any respect for what he does in rapping, but his fans like us respect him for saying that. If the album was double platinum right now at this moment I bet he'd cancel filming 'Pursuit Of Happiness' and shoot another music video and do more appearances on TV too, but when your album is #141 on the charts, you can't expect shows to want him to come on to perform, even when he was performing on 106 & Park Free asked him about when his new movie was coming when he was talking about "Lost and Found", he ain't getting much respect at all so why should he keep on going out there to promote it? Look at it this way if you had a job that everybody was bothering you at the same time you had another job people respect you at where you could get a promotion, wouldn't you choose the job where you would get the promotion and not wanna work at the job where everybody was bothering you? Will has a great chance of winning an Oscar with this 'Pursuit Of Happiness' so I say why not go for it, it's not like he's gonna win a Grammy next year, wack rappers like 50 Cent and Eminem will probably win which is disrespectful for hip-hop but that's the way people want it right now. At this point if you didn't buy "Lost and Found" you're not a fan and Will's just doing this for his fans, if he had more loyal fans in music, I expect that he'd be releasing more albums faster and maybe would consider stop doing movies so often, look at Slick Rick he just goes out there and performs for his few fans and if he makes another album it'd be for those few fans, hip-hop is not a drug that you push for people to buy, it's a free art that you share with your fans, whether you have a big or small fanbase, Will went out and performed for his fans and I think that's what matters the most.
-
Even if Will releases 5 singles in 3 months that doesn't mean that the album would do 50 Cent numbers not 'cause he can't compete with 50 Cent but more people love gangsta rap, it's not like Kanye West is gonna outsell all the gangsta rappers either when his album drops today, but his album could draw more people 'cause it has a parental advisory label on it, nobody buys a clean rap album anymore. LL Cool J released 2 singles in 3 months but he still didn't go platinum either and they were both huge hits. 50 Cent released singles to radio without video for a while and they'd do well, there's no exuse for why "Party Starter" ain't in heavy rotation on radio at least until the video dropped, I'm sorry but the majority of the public doesn't like Will Smith as a rapper as much as we do anymore, Will could put all of his money into releasing the singles and he might end up with much less in the end if the album doesn't sell as much as he spent for it too. The album'd possibly be doing at least a lil' better than now but I don't think Will's really worried about selling a lot of albums at this point, he's sold a lot of albums in his career already, he's not 20 years old so he has nothin' to prove, this ain't Bow Wow we're talkin' about here, people should give him recognition for what he's did up to this point already, he won the 1st rap Grammy and sold millions up to this point, people should be talkin' about Will being a legend not just another average rapper on the charts, Will releases singles to express his art, I think he'll still release "Tell Me Why" if he really loves that song as much as he says he does. The bottomline is the movie industry treats Will with more respect than the music industry does, it doesn't make sense to me since he's been rapping longer than mostly any rapper's been living and has more albums released in his career than most too but that's the cold truth and the reason why Will's been releasing more movies over the last few years than albums, well even Public Enemy's album is getting delayed now and they're known as one of the top groups ever, none of the legends get respect anymore, it ain't just Will, even Rakim can't find a record deal. There's no resistance in playing his movie in every movie theater like there is resistance to play his songs on black radio, he likes to do things where he gets respect at and at this point I think he has a better chance in winning an Oscar than he does winning another Grammy 'cause he's known as one of the top actors out while the majority of the public think that all the gangsta rappers are better than Will, Will still has fanbase from his earlier movies too while the majority of fans from the JJFP days are gone, he promoted the hell outta "Code Red" and it still didn't sell not 'cause it wasn't good enough, hell many of us call it his best album, the public was more into gangsta rap at the time and ignored Will, most of the "Homebase" fans abandoned him then, well it's the same way still, this ain't his fault, blame the millions that love 50 Cent and diss Will, some of them used to be JJFP fans too.
-
:iagree: I think they're slept on, I only heard a few songs that they did, mostly the songs they did with Pac, but I think they got talent, I'd rather see the Outlawz on the top of the rap game instead of G Unit 'cause they're the ones that're keepin' Pac's legacy alive, while fools like 50 Cent are ruining it, if Pac's fanbase were into him they'd be the top group out right now, I'd rather just see them rap over Pac's unreleased material than anybody else 'cause they're Pac's homies and Pac would've wanted it that way.
-
They'll release Party Starter. It would be highly ridiculous to have the video and not release it. ← It happened to Nas, he was on 106 & Park when "Just Another Moment" was premiered sayin' that he shot a video for "U.B.R."(Unauthorized Biography Of Rakim) but it never came out 'cause "Street's Disciple" sales plummetted badly and Columbia bothered not to release it, I hope Nas leaves that label. :jada: I wouldn't be surprised if "Party Starter"'s video never comes out after last night, I'm not gettin' my hopes up anymore, the album's at the point where it's gonna take a big miracle to turn sales around, Will still has one of the top 5 sellin' rap albums this year so it didn't really flop that badly, I just hope Will releases "Tell Me Why" even if it's through DVD.
-
Step in the reality man, Will's done a lot of promotion for this album over the last few months, if people haven't bought the album by now they ain't gonna buy it, commercial rap fans ain't into Will anymore, they think he's too old, it ain't '97 anymore, everybody loves Eminem and 50 Cent now, it ain't like Rev. Run's gonna sell anything when his album drops either, I still seen his video since it debuted 2 weeks ago on 106 & Park, the public doesn't want ol' school rappers anymore, sad but true, crying over it ain't gonna help, you should be happy that the album came out and screw what the public thinks, Will already said in an interview that it doesn't matter if his album sells 300,000 or 13 million, it's just about expressing his art and that's what he did, I got nomore to say.

http://rapstation.com/inside_the_rhyme/artist_interview/ Outlawz - Artist Interview Flatline: After the death of Tupac and members leaving the group, what keeps the Outlawz ticking? Noble: Just this Outlaw pride man. We put in a whole lot of work and we never really got a fair shot...whether it be tragedies or just, whatever...so that really keeps us going. I feel we're just as talented or probably more talented than the number one dudes in the game. We still young, we started when we was young...16,17. That really keeps us ticking....Pac lookin' down on us every day man. So it's just the spirit we got in us. The streets keep us ticking man. Flatline: You switch up a couple lines from RUN DMC's "Peter Piper" and make it your own on the album. Who influenced you coming up and who did you listen to? Noble: Aww man, growing up, everybody influenced me. Dudes like Kool G Rap, Rakim...of course RUN DMC...EPMD...everybody man. I was definitely a kid of hip hop man. Flatline: Do you ever think Tupac's murder will ever be solved? Noble: (pause) Naw, hell naw. I don't think the police ever wanted to solve that one. Flatline: You've been on several independent labels. In general, what do you think of the music industry? Noble: The music industry? It's a lot of ****in' bull**** that go in the game but the flipside of that is when you meet good people and build good relationships. It can take you far, you know what I mean? There's a lot of money in this industry besides the smoke screen. The industry is cool...but I don't really feel like we've really been IN the industry like that. Like, sometimes, you can be in it, but not really IN IT, you know what I mean? It's kinda like a job. I love doin' music but, you know, we got kids to feed at the end of the day. So we really on the business side of it. We never really been on a major label. We basically been on Death Row but we never put out an album with them... Flatline: What happened with the Death Row situation? Noble: Well, Suge was locked up when we signed. When we was doing all that music, all that "All Eyez On Me" and all that Makaveli ****, we wasn't even signed to Death Row. Pac was tellin' us to hold off so we could sign to Makaveli/Death Row, so he could get the majority of the money off us. Being that we had a whole lot of music over there when he passed, we figurin' that was the place for us to be to carry the torch. If Suge had been out, it probably would have been a way different story. We haven't had the privilege to be on a major label...with big push and three videos for our album. We ain't never had that shot yet. I feel like we deserve that shot and we ain't never gonna stop. You know, I feel like we're not an independent group man...we got a worldwide message. Flatline: On "Outlawz 4 Life" you got a few guest spots on there from people like TQ and Bun B from UGK. What was the goal all of you had in mind going into the studio to record the new album? Noble: To be honest with you, when we was recording, it wasn't really like we was recording this specific album...we just record. That's just what we do. We got a whole lot of projects we're working on. Like me and Edi just did an Edi & Noble album...we just finished a Dead Prez/Outlawz collaboration album.... Flatline: You worked with Dead Prez?! Noble: Yeah, we got a whole album done with Dead Prez. Flatline: When is that coming out or is there any release date yet? Noble: We tryin' to find distribution for it right now. Flatline: Any chance of you maybe hooking up with Paris to have him do some production? Noble: I'm sure we will. Actually, Paris was supposed to send us some beats for the Dead Prez/Outlawz album but I don't know what happened. I'm sure we probably will be doing something with Paris sooner or later. We also just did a little compilation with JT The Bigga Figga. We just WORKIN' man. We independent and we about to smash the streets like we never did before. When it comes to making substance, we do that **** in our sleep. We do that **** with our ****in' eyes closed man. I don't really feel like too many dudes that are out now can even really compete with us man. People get it confused...like when you hear people on the radio every day and see'em on the tv every day....it's because they got push behind them. Them ****'s don't be no hit records. Everybody doin' the same ol' ****...somethin' for the clubs.... Flatline: The majority of it is cookie cutter material... Noble: Yeah, and everybody's video is the same...same bitches in the video...comin' with too much of nothin' new, no type of substance. There's a few dudes...like, I like Kanye and Common...there's a lot of dudes doin' their thing, don't get it wrong. I ain't talkin' about nobody...everybody gotta eat, everybody play their position. But I feel like, as far as what we do, can't nobody do it. Like, when you listen to Tupac and you get that feelin'...you can't get that from nobody else and it's the same with the Outlawz man. When you listen to us and you get that sort of feeling, you can't get that **** from nobody else. We try and put our soul on over them tracks. "

:word: That doesn't make sense, I hope the storm doesn't hit as bad as rumored or else they'll all be dead.

Will was planning on releasing "Tell Me Why" as the 2nd single originally but Mary J. Blidge couldn't free up her schedule so he had to hurry up to shoot the "Party Starter" video 6 weeks ago, if it came out right away in the end of July the album would be doing much better at this point and we'd basically guaranteed to see "Tell Me Why" come out right after 'Pursuit Of Happiness' gets shot but the way things are going, "Tell Me Why" might be like "So Fresh" where Will's gonna have to pay for the video himself 'cause Interscope's being real cheap on him the way they're promoting this album.
