Hancock gets December DVD & Blu-ray date Missed Will Smith on the big screen? The disc release is already fixed in place... Simon Brew The big summer blockbusters have started jostling for their slots in the winter DVD and Blu-ray schedules, and Will Smith’s summer hit Hancock has already marked its territory. The film will be released in the UK on DVD and Blu-ray on 1st December, which pricing for the latter set at £24.99. The film itself overcame tepid reviews (including ours!), and has thus far chalked up over $200m at the US box office alone. News on special features for the disc release is thus far unavailable. 28/07/08 http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/92122/hanc...luray_date.html

I went to see the movie again and I disliked it even more. When you see a movie for the second time you notice things that you can't see the first time. All this makes me forget the funny moments that we live in the first half of the movie which make it enjoyable for some minutes. :shakehead:

Lauren Streib 07.28.08, 12:40 PM ET There may be too many celebrity lists, but there's only one Will Smith. Smith is the kind of performer that fans love to love, playing big, affirmative characters who seem to match the person he is in real life. "It's just Will Smith every time you see him," says Ellis Cashmore, author of Celebrity Culture. "That's a supposed part of the secret of remaining on the A list--to imprint your own personality on the roles. People go back to the box office because they know they're going to like it." To arrive at our top 10 stars with the most devoted followers, we reached out to E-Poll Market Research for the 30 actors with the highest E-Score appeal data. We then created a metric that weighed these scores with online fan activity through Google Blogs and the average international box office of each star's last three wide-release films according to Box Office Mojo. At the top of our list, Smith has the second-highest E-Score appeal ranking, an average box office gross of $420 million and is the second most talked about star on the Web. Tom Hanks, who ranks at No. 2 on our list, is another actor who retains his personality through various roles. Hanks' appeal ranking placed him just outside of the top five, but his box office success boosted his rank. Hanks' characters are often charming with honorable ambitions. That consistency in choice of likable roles leads to continuous box office success. "There's an aspect of brand familiarity there," says Michael Levine, Hollywood media expert and author. But the likability factor of celebrities is dependent on the intersection of their personal and private lives. As most of the names on our list prove--the less the public knows about the personal lives of stars, the more favorably they feel towards them. Noticeably absent from the list are tabloid mainstays like Tom Cruise, rumored bed-hoppers and Hollywood's young guard. Embarrassing public drama may be good for newsstand sales and increased "exposure," but it doesn't breed positive reception from the public. Would tawdry news about fan favorites make the tabloids? Maybe, if it's just too juicy to pass up. But for the most part, "These celebrities are the untouchables in a way," says Cashman. http://www.forbes.com/business/2008/07/28/...nfavorites.html

The Dark Knight Reaches a Record $314.2M in 10 Days! Source: Nielsen EDI, Box Office Mojo July 27, 2008 The ComingSoon.net Box Office Report has been updated with studio estimates for the weekend. Be sure to check back on Monday for the final figures based on actual box office. Warner Bros. Pictures' The Dark Knight earned an estimated $75.6 million from 4,366 theaters in its second weekend, surpassing Shrek 2's $72.2 million for biggest second weekend ever. Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins follow-up has reached $314.2 million in just 10 days, another record. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest held the previous record in the amount of days it took to cross the $300 million mark - it needed 16 days to do so. On Monday, The Dark Knight will surpass Iron Man and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull to become the biggest movie of 2008 domestically. It is already up to #23 on the all-time domestic blockbuster list and has a good shot at surpassing Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope's $460.998 million (not counting inflation) to become the second-biggest domestic earner of all-time, trailing only Titanic's $600.788 million. The Dark Knight, budgeted at $185 million, stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=47344

Will and Jada Show Off Their Beach and Bikini Bodies! Will Smith, Jada, and their kids have been enjoying a little July vacation, Hawaii-style, lounging on the beach with family and friends. Jada stripped off her wetsuit after a day in the water to show off a bright yellow string bikini, while Will cracked everyone up on the beach. Just like daddy post-Hancock, Willow deserved some rest and relaxation after all her hard work promoting Kitt Kittredge. Whether they hit the surf or just show off their stellar beach bodies, this is one hard-working family that definitely deserves a little Summer break. http://popsugar.com/1814289#comments

By Lacey Rose, Forbes.com Tinseltown's leading ladies may generate more tabloid ink, but when it comes to blockbuster paychecks, Hollywood is still a man's town. In an era where risk-averse studio executives have declared men the more reliable movie stars — and the more desirable moviegoers — perhaps it's no surprise that they are also the medium's top earners. The reality: Hollywood's 10 best-paid actors out-earned Hollywood's 10 best-paid actresses 2-to-1 over the course of the year. Collectively, the big screen's leading men took home an estimated $487 million this year, compared with the leading ladies' haul of $244.5 million. Will Smith leads the pack of Hollywood's best-paid actors, banking an estimated $80 million over the course of the year. Frequently called the hardest-working man in Hollywood, Smith has proved that no matter the genre — be it sci-fi thriller (Warner Bros.' I Am Legend) or sappy drama (Sony's The Pursuit of Happyness) — he can deliver an audience. The former Fresh Prince of Bel Air star also set a theatrical record this year. Thanks to the commercial success of this summer's anti-superhero flick Hancock, Smith is the first actor in Hollywood history to have eight straight movies eclipse $100 million at the box office. Coming in second on the list is Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp, an actor who is known to vacillate between commercial work and artier fare. He still managed to pull down $72 million this year. In this case, the bold-faced star followed up his three turns as Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney's $2.76 billion Pirates franchise with the Stephen Sondheim serial-killer musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Flat Street. Though the latter hardly set box office records, it did earn Depp an Oscar nomination. With $55 million, Eddie Murphy comes in third among Tinseltown's top earners, thanks to a slew of family-friendly hits. The long-reigning master of disguise continues to prove his range on-screen, playing notable roles in everything from animated flicks (DreamWorks' Shrek) to goofball comedies (DreamWorks' Norbit) to musical remakes (DreamWorks' Dreamgirls). The latter earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Then there's Austin Powers star Mike Myers, who is tied for third on this list with earnings of $55 million, due in large part to the success of the hit animated franchise Shrek. But when it comes to live-action fare, the comedy chameleon's ride has been far less smooth in recent years. Despite a stellar cast (including Justin Timberlake and Jessica Alba) and plenty of promotion, Myers' summer comedy The Love Guru failed to deliver at the box office. To date, the Paramount flick has generated only $31.8 million domestically. Titanic's Leonardo DiCaprio rounds out the top five, raking in $45 million during the year. He's the unique movie star who can get $20 million for work in R-rated adult dramas, which, because of viewer age restrictions, have limited ability to generate big box office numbers. Though his flicks are rarely blockbusters, DiCaprio's work can create a sizable amount of Academy Award season buzz. In fact, three of his last five flicks —Gangs of New York, The Aviator and Departed— were nominated for Best Picture. The latter took home the Oscar. © 2008 Forbes.com LLC. All Rights Reserved. 6:01pm UK, Tuesday July 22, 2008 Batman star Christian Bale has left a London police station after being questioned over claims he assaulted his mother and sister. His arrest comes just a day after the British actor attended the premiere of his new film, The Dark Knight, in London. Bale, 34, is alleged to have lashed out at the two family members in his suite at Park Lane's Dorchester Hotel on Sunday. The star, who plays the Caped Crusader, was quizzed by detectives at a central London police station. The two women, who live in Dorset, went to a Hampshire police station yesterday to make a formal allegation. The complaint about the actor was then passed to the Metropolitan Police for further investigation. A police spokeswoman said: "A 34-year-old man attended a central London police station this morning by appointment. "He was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault." Bale had joined Batman co-stars Sir Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Aaron Eckhart at the Odeon West End cinema in Leicester Square last night. Sky's showbiz correspondent Steve Hargrave interviewed Bale at a London hotel yesterday and later at the premiere. He said there was nothing in his demeanour to suggest he had been involved in an alleged family row. Hargrave said: "He (Bale) wasn't the most overtly cheery but he wasn't particularly rude to me when I sat down in the Dorchester to interview him. "Maybe he sounded a bit abrupt on some answers." The Dark Knight, which also stars the late Heath Ledger as The Joker, broke box office records when it opened in the US at the weekend. The 28-year-old, who is tipped for a posthumous Oscar, died from an accidental drugs overdose in January. Bale, a keen environmental activist and martial arts enthusiast, has also starred in American Psycho, Empire Of The Sun and Batman Begins. http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/Showbiz-N...527assault%2527
