EXCLUSIVE VIDEO INTERVIEW: The Women Cast and Crew Featurette http://www.movieweb.com/news/53/31053.php

I don't think so. He'll probably start filming 'Empire' in January. What makes you say that? I thought Michael Mann was supposed to direct "Empire" but in January he'll probably be doing post-prod work on "Public Enemies".... I said "probably" :lolsign: But I don't think that we won't see a new WS movie until 18 months after 'Seven Pounds'. I'm sure he's gonna make at least one movie in 2009, and I think that it could be 'Empire' since I don't see 'The Trial Of The Chicago 7' and the other rumored movies happening. We'll have to wait though.

EXCLUSIVE: Is Will Smith The New Captain America? When Marvel announced that “Captain America” was making its way to the big-screen, fans everywhere began speculating who would be donning the famous red-white-and-blue tights. Nothing has been heard since, but during an MTV News interview regarding his role in “Miracle at St. Anna,” actor Derek Luke let slip that a very prominent - and surprising - face could be the star of Marvel Studios’ next blockbuster film. “I heard they offered Will Smith ‘Captain America,’” said Luke, adding that the intriguing casting rumor “just shows you how times have changed.” While this word through the Hollywood grapevine is nothing more than a rumor at this point, it should be noted that Marvel hasn’t shied away from changing up the race - and gender - of established characters in recent years. Upon kicking off his celebrated take on “The Ultimates” (Marvel’s re-imagining of their classic superteam The Avengers), Mark Millar changed S.H.I.E.L.D. head honcho Nick Fury from a crew-cut, cigar-chomping, middle-aged white man to, well… Sam Jackson. The decision, though aggressively debated back when the series debuted, seemed to receive some validation earlier this year when Jackson made his post-credits cameo in “Iron Man” as Fury. Smith himself is no stranger to the four-color world, having recently starred as a down-on-his-luck superhero in “Hancock.” Given the success of that film however, it seems almost a given that a sequel could be in the offing. That makes the prospect of Smith starring in yet another superhero franchise seem unlikely, especially given the subversive tone of “Hancock.” Along with providing some fresh material for the “Captain America” rumor mill, Luke also mentioned an interest in jumping into the superhero movie scene himself, and offered up a few characters he’d like to bring to the big screen. “I would love to jump into Green Lantern,” said Luke. “There are a lot of stories I’m into… [like] Black Panther.” So what do you think, Splash Page readers? Would you want to see Will Smith as Captain America? what about Derek Luke as Green Lantern or Black Panther on the big screen? Source! http://splashpage.mtv.com/2008/09/08/exclu...aptain-america/

Movie star Will Smith cheers on his son and the rest of the Westlake Village-Oaks Christian JV team Friday as they played Bakersfield Christian. Will Smith didn't seem interested until the parade of well-wishers and photo-seekers became a game of cat-and-mouse. That was when a Bakersfield woman walked by his spot in the Bakersfield Christian stands Friday afternoon with her cell phone propped up at her ear. But she wasn't talking. She was getting close to snap a photo, all without Smith's burly assistants shooing her off. It was enough to impress a movie star. "I saw you!" Smith shouted after her. "That was very clever, very clever." And so Smith and family -- wife Jada Pinkett Smith, one daughter in a "Smith" football jersey and the other in a Hancock baseball hat, plus son Jaden, who has his own budding movie career -- took in Bakersfield Christian's junior-varsity game against Westlake Village-Oaks Christian, for whom Smith's son Trey plays wide receiver. Some hundred feet away, Oaks Christian quarterback Trevor Gretzky's dad, who happens to be NHL scoring king Wayne Gretzky, stood happily. With his potential throng of admirers distracted by Smith, Gretzky was able to watch the game in relative peace. Such is the life at Oaks Christian, the only high school in America where hockey's Great One goes unnoticed. Shortly after the Smiths arrived near the beginning of the second quarter, word spread to the BCHS side of the stands and people began coming over to see Smith, one of the highest-grossing movie stars of all time. First it was a couple of giggling girls. Then some students looking for a good story to tell their friends later. Then word spread some more. Soon, the assistants were telling people before they even approached that it was "family time" for Smith. Instead, the celebrity-seekers stood behind a fence a few hundred feet away and shouted "Hi, Will Smith!" He responded with a smile and wave, and then turned back to the game to watch the most famous JV squad in America. Later, during the varsity game, 49ers legendary quarterback Joe Montana appeared, standing quietly atop the visiting bleachers. No one seemed to turn a head. http://www.bakersfield.com/136/story/544479.html

Sony Pictures Offers BD Live Commitment and Details of HANCOCK Blu-ray Disc Hancock, recently announced for release on Blu-ray November 25th, will be Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's first high-def disc to include a Digital Copy of the movie. The DRM-protected copy will be delivered on a second disc inside the package, a DVD. Sony executives later confirmed that this will follow the model of Sony's recent DVD Digital Copy offerings, with a transferable file for the PC in addition to a smaller file specifically for use on the Sony PlayStation Portable handheld. Until now, Sony's biggest Digital Copy titles had been 21 and Vantage Point, so the Will Smith-starring summer blockbuster Hancock represents a major commitment to their entire digital copy initiative. The Sony rep also hinted at a future "Rewards Club" for consumers, allowing them to amass points for purchasing Sony Blu-ray discs and later redeeming for assorted paraphernalia. The Hancock news followed Sony's announcement that all of their future Blu-ray players will be able to connect to the internet. In conjunction with that hardware support, all SPHE Blu-ray titles going forward will be BD-Live-enabled as well. Speaking privately with SPHE executives after the press conference, we learned that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is working on enhancements to their BD-Live framework and servers to speed up delivery of BD-Live content on existing players and titles. Other Blu-ray titles were also teased, including a new Collector's Edition of Casino Royale, no doubt timed to the theatrical release of the upcoming James Bond sequel, Quantum of Solace. This second, more elaborate issue of Casino Royale marks one of the first "double dips" of the Blu-ray era. Coming out before the Blu-ray Disc version of Hancock (though no specific date was announced) will be an internet-downloadable version of the movie. No, we're not talking about some bootleg illegal copy of the film, but a legitimate high definition version of the film direct from Sony Pictures. The catch is that it will only be available to owners of select Bravia LCD televisions, enabled with the Bravia Internet Video Link feature (IPTV). Details on delivery date are yet to be announced. http://www.bigpicturebigsound.com/Sony_Pic...ommitment.shtml

With husband Will Smith willing to play Barack, all the possible film needs is a triumphant November. By Shawn Adler Thanks to countless blockbusters and a string of #1 hits, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith might very well be the first family of show business. But could the pair — married since 1997 — one day play the real first family? This past June, Will told MTV News that he'd love to portray Barack Obama on the big screen, after the presidential nominee himself suggested the actor as the most viable candidate. Now Jada is joining her husband's campaign. "Pencil me in," the "Matrix" star asserted, staking her claim to the role of Barack's wife, Michelle Obama. "I love Michelle [and] would play her any day." No actual movie about the Obamas exists outside the realm of pure speculation, of course, although it's not hard to imagine that one could eventually be made — especially if powerful players like the Smiths are behind the project. Still, all this presumes that the Illinois senator will win the presidency come November, which Smith alluded to when he said he was still waiting for Obama to "write the end of the story." For her part, Jada said she was working hard to make sure that the ending is a triumphant one. But not because of her love for Barack. "I'm voting for Michelle," she laughed. "I'm always telling people I'm voting for Michelle to get into the White House and Obama is just going to follow her lead. She is smart and committed, and I just love her." http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1594214/story.jhtml
