Willow Smith's MLK Jr. Holiday Weekend Travels With the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday weekend upon us, Willow Smith was spotted prepping for an outbound flight at LAX Airport in Los Angeles, CA on Friday afternoon (January 13). Sporting a funky, natural hued hairdo while clad in a black "Southside Slugger" sweatshirt and tights, the 11-year-old singer/actress offered up a big smile as she was escorted inside the metro terminal before disappearing past the security checkpoint. The weekend travels come as Miss Smith's producer has recently told that she's nearing completion of her debut album, Willow: You Think You Know Me, with a hoped for release date of April 3, 2012. With the disc said to have a style similar to that of her hit track "Whip My Hair," it has also been revealed that Willow's next single will be "Rock Star". http://celebrity-gossip.net/willow-smith/willow-smiths-mlk-jr-holiday-weekend-travels-576150

Ale replied to Ale's topic in Will Smith Movies
More details.. Will Smith better get out his rain gear. The star has been invited to host Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards, a show known for sliming its celebrities. This year is a special broadcast, as the ceremony is celebrating its 25th anniversary. It will be Smith’s first time hosting the show, though he’s won 10 Blimp Awards in the last 20 years and been nominated for five more. Marjorie Cohn, Nick’s president of original programming and development and an executive producer of the show said Smith was an obvious choice. She called him “the biggest movie star in the world … a larger than life presence who knows how to play big,” and added, “We’re excited he’ll be taking the stage for the biggest, loudest, messiest spectacle in the show’s 25-year history.” The show will air March 31. http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/01/11/will-smith-nickelodeon-kids-choice-awards/ -

Dan Gross: Will & Jaden are shooting here DON'T BE surprised if you start seeing Will Smith or his actor son, Jaden, in the area. The Overbrook- native superstar and his "Karate Kid" offspring are in town to shoot "1000 A.E.," directed by M. Night Shyamalan. We told you in August that the Smiths had been meeting with Shyamalan about the futuristic thriller, in which Jaden plays a teen stranded on an abandoned planet and Will plays his father. The pair previously played father and son in "The Pursuit of Happyness." The film, being guarded with typical Shyamalan secrecy, is expected to be shot around the area through April. http://www.philly.com/philly/entertainment/20120112_Dan_Gross__Will___Jaden_are_shooting_here.html

Justin Bieber, Will Smith to be Featured on E!'s SCOUTED TO STARDOM, Premiering 1/9 With obsessed fans around the world, larger-than-life careers and booming bank accounts, it's hard to imagine that some of Hollywood's biggest names - such as Justin Bieber, Will Smith and Cameron Diaz - were at one point complete unknowns. In the all-new thirty-minute special "Scouted to Stardom," E! explains how these mega-stars happened to be at the right place at the right time and were thrust onto the rollercoaster of celebrity life. In exclusive sit-down interviews, buzz-worthy names including Audrina Patridge, Chrissy Teigen, Selita Ebanks, Jewel and Lucas Grabeel, share their stories of discovery. Find out how grabbing a drink at a bar, taking a trip to the smoothie shop and laying by the pool led to fame and fortune for these stars when "Scouted to Stardom" premieres January 9th at 9:30 PM ET/PT on E! Tinseltown playboy Ashton Kutcher was not looking for celebrity and fortune when fame found him - find out how he went from obscurity to magazine covers and red carpets in E!'s new special. Additionally, E! cameras go back to where some famous faces were first scouted. "High School Musical's" Lucas Grabeel returns to the shopping center where he was spotted, Victoria Secret angel Selita Ebanks stops by a New Jersey theme park for the first time since she was scouted there as a teen and model Chrissy Teigen relives her experience of being scouted while working at a surf store. However, as this special reveals, even for these stars who fell into celebrity - the ultimate Hollywood fairytale - the road to fame and success is not easy. "The Hills" sexy star Audrina Patridge, who was scouted while tanning poolside at her apartment complex, shares exclusively with E! the juicy details behind her mega-hit television series that launched her into superstardom. "Lauren wasn't that friendly" the stylish stunner reveals to E! about her forced friendship with Lauren Conrad when the show first began filming, "I was like, 'Wow, this girl does not like me. She's not nice really.' Maybe 'cause she doesn't know me." In addition to feeling like an outsider with her new onscreen friends, Audrina explains that fortune wasn't part of the package either, "The first season that we filmed, I wasn't really getting paid at all. I would call the producers and tell them, 'Listen, I don't know if I can do this anymore. Like I can't even pay my rent." While Audrina's road to fame was bumpy, four-time Grammy nominee Jewel was already at a low point in her life when she was discovered by a local radio DJ while singing in a coffee shop. Jewel was homeless and living out of her car unaware that she would eventually have a string of top forty hits. "Scouted to Stardom" premieres January 9 at 9:30 PM ET/PT on E! And don't miss a new episode of E!'s "Scouted" immediately following at 10pm ET/PT with a special guest appearance by Josie Maran. Select exclusive quotes from "Scouted to Stardom" include: "I never set out to be famous. I was rewarded on a massive scale for being myself. That's a gift. That's a gift that people gave to me." - Jewel "It's just crazy how laying out by the pool one random day and meeting a producer changed my whole life drastically." - Audrina Patridge "I felt like such a nobody. I came from nothing. I came from nowhere." - Chrissy Teigen "If I learned anything from dreaming as a child and then having those dreams come true, is that you must dream bigger and, I'm trying to do that everyday." - Lucas Grabeel "My first time walking in on a Victoria Secret fashion show was, I was just kind of the girl in headlights." - Selita Ebanks "I remember going to Denny's and washing my hair in the sink. Some woman was going into the bathroom and she said, 'She looked nice enough. I wonder how she got that way,' and I felt really bad about myself." - Jewel About E! Cheetah, the chimpanzee that appeared in Tarzan movies in the early 1930s, has died of kidney failure at the age of 80, WTSP TV reports. The Suncoast Primate Sanctuary in Palm Harbor, Fla., says the community "has lost a dear friend and family member" with the death of Cheetah on Dec. 24. Sanctuary outreach director Debbie Cobb tells The Tampa Tribune that the chimp was outgoing, loved finger-painting and liked to see people laugh. Cobb says Cheetah came to the sanctuary from the estate of Johnny Weissmuller, former American Olympic gold medal swimmer who played Tarzan in the 1930s. Cheetah played Tarzan's comic sidekick from 1932 to 1934, the sanctuary tells WTSP. Ron Priest, a sanctuary volunteer for seven years, tells the newspaper that Cheetah stood out with his ability to stand up and walk like a human, with shoulders tall, and back straight. Cobb says the average chimp survives 25 to 35 years in the wild and 35 to 45 years in zoos. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/ondeadline/post/2011/12/cheetah-the-chimp-star-of-tarzan-movies-dies-at-age-80/1

The legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff tells XXL about the inspiration behind the Grammy Award-wining classic “Summertime” and more… [Editor's Note: This past July, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince celebrated the 20-year anniversary of their fourth album, Homebase. Featuring hits like "Ring My Bell" and the Grammy Award-winning, "Summertime," the album garnered the Philly duo its second platinum plaque. Here, Jazzy Jeff tells XXL about the making of the album.] AS TOLD TO CARL CHERY (@cchery) You know what’s funny? I remember somebody at the record company [Jive Records] telling us that every time you guys do a record, the record company bets against you. I never forgot that. It was kinda like, “Damn, we’re even fighting with our own record company. They don’t even believe us. But I remember that was the first year of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, so Will was in L.A. taping and I was in Philly. Of course, being from the East Coast March, April, that first 75, 80 degree day, you see a girl that comes out, with the body that she ain’t have last summer. Everybody is washing their car and playing their music. It’s a feeling of nostalgia that you kinda get as soon as the season starts to change. With Will being in L.A., it was 80 degrees for Christmas, so he’s kinda like, “Damn, as much as I like that, I didn’t get that season change and that vibe that you get when you’re back East and that’s what made him write “Summertime” because he’s like, “Yo, I miss going to the water ice spot and getting your water ice and driving out to the Plateau and seeing the girl that last summer she ain’t have no body,” and you know, he missed all of that. That was the whole culmination of “Summertime” and Homebase and then it was crazy because we put it out and he was able to parlay the video being shown at the end of Fresh Prince, which people never did and that basically helped. I remember going to Tom Joyner and I joke with [radio host] Tom Joyner every time I see him. Me and Tom, we were all cool when we used to go up to his radio show in the early days of Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince and I remember seeing him at a music convention and I was like, “Yo, me and Will got a record coming. It’s gon’ be great and I looked in his face and he had that look, like, “Yea, everybody tell me that.” And I remember going up to his show for “Summertime” and he said that. He was like, “You know what? I gotta give you credit because I didn’t believe you. You said, “We got something that is gon really get the people” and you guys were right. It’s crazy because as much as I love “Summertime” and I want it to be around forever, every year I wait for that record to die. Not in a bad way, but every summer, I’m kinda like, this is going to be the summer that they’re not gonna start playing “Summertime” when it gets hot and it comes back every year and that’s a major blessing. [Kool & The Gang] loved it. I mean, we had to get clearance from them, but they loved it. I grew up with “Summer Madness” and I grew up with the regular version and the live version of “Summer Madness” at the block parties and the old radio stations playing it. The emotion that it evoked and in the ’70s and the ’80s, that’s what we tried to do in the ’90s. http://www.xxlmag.com/features/2011/12/dj-jazzy-jeff-remembers-the-making-of-homebase-20-years-later/
