  1. Okay, so maybe I posted out of anger, and the kids part was a little harsh, but I'm not gonna edit it out, it's done. If you are truly honest with yourself, when was the last actually good Will Smith movie? For me, I'd say it is "Enemy of the State", and that was in 1998! I've been a fan since the Fresh Prince days(never really been a music fan) and ID4 was my favorite movie as a kid, but his films have regularly dissapointed for a decade now! I am tired of defending him on other boards as an actor. I am tired of waiting for his truely great movie. I post here more out of memory for an actor I onced really liked, then being a current fan. Maybe he'll do somehting really cool with a great director and cast. I doubt it. It just seems he is content with being a safe, family-friendly blockbuster actor with occassional sappy Oscar-bait in there. He could be so much more.
  2. I hope Foxx wins an Oscar just to embarrass Will. Whatever Will follows MIB 3 with better be something good, or he'll be ripped even more than he is now. He should just retire and focus on his untalanted children.
  3. He's too imagine-concerned. He thinks everything he does with movies has to be positive and have good morales that correspond to how he lives his life. But, it's called acting!!! Just because Anthony Hopkins played a serial killer that eats people doesn't mean he is a ill-moral person in real life. This script is very violent with lots of sexuality and deals bluntly with race. It's gonna upset some more conservative minded people, white and black alike. It could be upsetting to people who are Will Smith fans who like safe, feel-good movies like "Hitch" and "Pursuit of Happyness", and as dark a films they like is somthing like "I am Legend". Will needs a project like this, because he has gotten stale and boring to alot of people who are serious about movies. If he follows up the likely disaster that is MIB 3 with some stupid M. Night film with his son or Hancock 2, when he could of done a Tarantino movie, he'll be regarded as a joke!
  4. http://www.deadline.com/2011/06/leonardo-dicaprio-in-early-talks-for-quentin-tarantinos-django-unchained/#more-138110 Sigh....
  5. I like it better than most people. Visually it has some cool stuff, but the comedy bits fall so flat!
  6. Why the hell is he speaking at a Walmart share-holders meeting?
  7. Will is way too image-concerned to take this. Also, he can't control and micro-manage Tarantino like other directors.
  8. Maybe there's still hope, but it seems that Smith has passed on this. If so, yeah I'm done, he has no interest in being a real actor.
  9. Hawthorne is a terrible show.....
  10. If it's not "Django Unchained", I don't want to hear it!! Everyday that goes by with no news, I get a little more nervous.
  11. For the amount of money being spend and the number of jobs this production is creating, if Will wanted to park his trailer in the middle of Central Park, he should be allowed to!
  12. If I was a betting man, I'd say he won't do it. Will likes to control things too much, and he won't be able to do that on this movie.
  13. sounds little more hopeful....http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118036551 You don't know how geeked I am IF this happens, may favorite actor and my favorite director together!!! Gosia, you rock!!!
  14. That would be so ****ing awesome!!! However, I am very nervous that Will would turn it down, wanting to up keep his positive image and not alienate his family friendly audience or something stupid like that.
  15. The hits keep coming for MIB 3. We all know that its gonna be 3D, but it's not being filmed in 3d. They are gonna convert it in post production. This ticks me off more than anything else we've read about this movie. Post 3D is poor quality and is basically ripping people off for couple extra bucks. http://www.esquire.com/features/the-digital-man/best-3d-camcorder-2011
  16. "You've described your husband Will as a 'ghost producer' before, haven't you? "Yes, my husband is a big time ghost producer! I had our head writer here just getting the first three episodes of HawthoRNe tight and [Will] just called me yesterday and he was like, 'OK, I need the head writer to fly to New York by Thursday because I have some more notes on the upcoming episodes, I've got the outlines'. He is a master structuralist as far as story is concerned - there's no-one better in the business than him in my opinion. He understands the pulse of what people want to see, how to create the maximum emotional impact. Starting last year he was very, very involved in HawthoRNe, so he's been my knight in shining armour." This has been Will's biggest problem the last couple years....He thinks he knows better than everyone else, including seasoned directs and writers. It is spreading through Hollywood that while a nice guy, he is a terror to work with.
  17. Found this blog form a lady doing makeup on MIB3. She has some pics of the Alien make-up that will be in the movie(probably the only thing left in the movie to look foward too). http://professionalmakeupbymelissadaloia.blogspot.com/2011/04/men-in-black-3.html
  18. I completley agree with everything you said. I read that and just shock my head in disbelief. I starting to wonder if I should move away from Will Smith, between this, the disaster that MIB 3 seems to be with the constant script problems and behind the scene problems(which seems to happen on every Smith movie and is getting worse), and the profliation of his damn kids! I can't take it anymore. I look at actors like Dicaprio or Pitt and think that's the career Smith should have. Working on quality diverse projects with A-list writers and directors instead of laughable hacks like Shyamalan in a generic sounding movie. He could be better then those guys also cause he can do comedy better then them. Will do "Uptown Saturday Night" with Denzel, something with Spielberg, that Michael Mann movie, hell even "City that Sailed" would be better than this!
  19. They should just cancel the damn thing!
  20. Here's a post from a person's blog about hanging out with Will on the set on MIB 3. It's a pretty good read, talks about Will's dad also. http://www.mayasloan.com/hanging-with-will-smith-junior-and-senior/
  21. Sounds interesting, who knows if he'll actually do it... http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/blogs/heat-vision/wachowskis-warner-bros-aim-hood-57312 Andy and Lana (formerly Larry) Wachowski are returning to the Warner Bros. fold with Hood, a modern, urban take on the Robin Hood myth. The Wachowskis wrote the script and will direct the tale, which in keeping with the modus operendi of the duo, is shrouded in secrecy. The pair are already reaching out to actors, with insiders saying Will Smith as one of those who they reached out to. While a take on Robin Hood may not be much to go on, knowing the proclivities of the duo, it will undoubtedly have a brand of visual take and their comic book-fused pop art sensitivities. The Wachowskis have been working on their Iraqi war movie, CN-9, told from the point of view of archeologists piecing together events from the U.S. occupation of Iraq using found footage and includes two male soldiers falling in love and a plot to assassinate George W. Bush. The hot button project has been slow to find financing, although the pair have shot some talking-head sequences with Arianna Huffington, Salman Rushdie, Jesse Ventura and Cornel West. Warners has been the home to the Wachowskis ever since 1999’s The Matrix. The relationship went through a challenge with 2008’s flop Speed Racer but the pair did give the studio first-crack at CN-9. Hood clearly shows there are no hard feelings. The Wachowskis are repped by WME and Circle of Confusion.
  22. Guys this thread was started with the news that Peter Craig was hired to write the script over a year ago!
  23. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/movies/2010/11/men-in-black-3-delays-will-smith.html "EXCLUSIVE: After a postponement of roughly a month, Will Smith's upcoming sci-fi comedy "Men In Black 3" will begin shooting tomorrow in New York. But in an unusual move for a big-budget Hollywood film, the production will take a nearly two-month hiatus from filming when it wraps for the holidays. Two sources close to the 3-D production say the plan is for the film to shoot through the week of Christmas, then shut down until the middle of February, when it will resume. The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of sensitivities around the big-budget 3-D movie, say that screenwriter Jeff Nathanson, whose credits include "Catch Me If You Can" and "Rush Hour 2," has also been brought in to begin work this week on a new draft of the film's script. Nathanson will specifically work on the story's time-travel component that sees a leap back to 1969, when Josh Brolin appears as a young Agent Kay (the character made popular by Tommy Lee Jones, who also reprises the role in this film). "Tropic Thunder" writer Etan Cohen authored the first draft of the screenplay. The shoot that begins this week will focus on the film's present-day events, while the production that picks up in mid-February will be centered on the 1969 storyline, the sources said. The schedule likely won't affect the planned release of the film, which is scheduled for May 2012. But production shut-downs are very rare, especially on bigger-budget films, as they tend to drive up costs (the crew must continue to be paid during the shut-down). The film's producer confirmed the hiatus but said it was not the result of creative disagreement but rather part of a plan conceived months ago that would allow the production to begin in 2010 but allow parts of the movie, which is set in the summer, to shoot in a more temperate climate. "We had to start shooting this year to take advantage of New York State tax incentives, but we also needed to be able to shoot certain exteriors in warmer weather," producer Walter Parkes said. "So back in July we had the idea to keep the start date but build in a hiatus so we could essentially extend the production to late spring.” A Sony spokesman on Monday echoed Parkes' statement. The news of the hiatus comes after reports last month that the third installment of the Smith-led franchise was being pushed back from its October start date -- the second time that the preproduction process was halted -- because of dissenting views on the story among Smith, director Barry Sonnenfeld and the movie's producers. At the time Sony said the delay was happening for tax-incentive reasons and was not related to any creative disagreement. The script for "MIB 3" has generated a lot of talk in the blogosphere, particularly for the "Back to The Future"-style plot twist that sends Smith's Agent Jay back to 1969. According to those who've read said script, he travels back in time and meets Andy Warhol (who is secretly an alien) and other counterculture figures such as Yoko Ono and Jimi Hendrix (also secretly aliens)." Hopefully its nothing, but stopping production and reworking on the script during production is never a good sign. I'm tired of this kind of stuff always happening on Will's movie.
  24. Some interesting MIB casting news: "Will Smith’s Men in Black sequel has already set Jemaine Clement and Josh Brolin (as a young Tommy Lee Jones). The Cog reports that apparently Gemma Arterton, Alec Baldwin, and Sharlto Copley are all in negotiations for roles in the film. Arterton would play a secretary in the 1969 version of MIB; Baldwin would play the 1969 MIB boss; and Copley would play a fast-talking Yoda type alien. Nicole Sherzinger has also been offered a cameo as Clement’s girlfriend. As previously reported, Emma Thompson has also been cast; she’ll play the head of MIB in modern day. Filming starts in November, and is expected to run through February." link: http://www.pajiba.com/trade_news/exclusive-sharlto-copley-for-men-in-black-3-unnecessary-plot-details-on-seth-macfarlanes-movie.php
  25. I got hold of the script. I don't like it. I've only read about a third, but it' like Alexander or Troy with an unstoppalble army of vampires lead by Will Smith. Anybody want it, give your email.
