A tiny King Country town could set the scene for an upcoming film starring Hollywood star Will Smith.

Ohura, population 165, is being tipped to be one of the locations for Bad Boys III, the third in the Bad Boys action franchise starring Smith and Martin Lawrence.

Bonny Johnson, operator of the local Jailhouse Cafe, told the Taranaki Daily News the Auckland owners of the town's former prison were in talks with the Bad Boys producers, about shooting there.

The secluded prison complex, which had originally been a miners' hostel, and closed in 2003, was perfect for a film shoot, Ms Johnson said.

"They said that the biggest problem with filming is the problems they have with outside people and security - whereas with this one they can block the whole thing off," Ms Johnson said.

Talks had been going on for about four months, she added, but there was no word on when filming would happen.

"They are saying they will use it, but `we will use it when we want to use it'."

I doubt this, something would of been said in the trades...likely for "John Hancock"

  2. On IMDB message boards one guy posted this VERY interesting piece of news, thought you guys might enjoy:

James Newton Howard (Blood Diamond, Signs, King Kong, The Village, The Sixth Sense) just signed on to score 'I Am Legend'

Warner Bros. Pictures, who will release the film on

December 17, has confirmed the signing of James

Newton Howard to Film Music Weekly. The film

is directed by Francis Lawrence, who helmed the

apocalyptic Constantine (scored by Brian Tyler

and Klaus Badelt) a couple of years ago. I Am Legend

is also a fantasy story about a man who is the

only human person living on the planet left – the

rest of the world is inhabited by blood-thirsty

vampires! Will Smith stars as the human fighting

for his survival, other cast members include

Sonia Braga and Salli Richardson. Akiva Goldsman

has written the screenplay based on Richard

    Matheson’s novel.

James Newton Howard, who is represented by

Gorfaine-Schwartz, has recently scored The Lookout

and also has the music for Michael Clayton and

the adventure epic The Waterhorse coming up.

I think this is quite good. I thought his scores for M'Night Shyamalan's movies were all pretty awesome, not to mention King Kong...

    Cheers

What does ıt mean to score ? Did he edited it or is he producing it or what ?

    Thanks for the explanation.

He's the person who composes the music for the movie.

  3. This movie will be liked by audiences and be "so-so" with critcs. I had feeling that was coming, but who cares about critics, really.

Critics are cynical, like stated in a previous post. They don't like uplifting emotional moments in a straightforward manner, they feel like it's being manipulative. Feel good movies usually get roasted by critcs for sappyness and forced emotions from their audience. But critcs go in with these preconcieved notions to look out for these things.

It probably doesn't have a shot at best picture, but Will still stands a got shot at a best actor nomination. But the reviews from jaded critics will be too harsh for anything more. In the end, take the millions who will like the film when they see it in the theaters, instead of reviews and awards. That's what Will does...

Columbia Pictures has acquired comic pitch "My Wife Hates Your Wife," with Gina Wendkos to script and Overbrook Entertainment partners Will Smith and James Lassiter producing.

Wendkos is writing with Smith in mind, though the actor won't make a decision until the screenplay is completed.

Story revolves around two couples who do everything together until the ladies feud and the guys must sneak around to continue their now-illicit friendship.

Col is prepping for a Dec. 15 release of the Gabriele Muccino-directed "The Pursuit of Happyness," which Overbrook produced with Escape Artists. Once Smith completes starring in the Warner Bros. drama "I Am Legend," he'll return to the Columbia fold to star in the Peter Berg-directed "Tonight, He Comes," which Smith is producing with Lassiter, Michael Mann and Akiva Goldsman.

Wendkos' credits include both "The Princess Diaries" films and "Coyote Ugly."

Wendkos and Smith are repped by CAA.

  5. from Liz Smith...

    Thumbs up

In The Pursuit of Happyness, the story of a strung-out smart guy, Will Smith shows us in this wonderfully suspenseful and sometimes heartbreaking film that he can really act!

This is a movie that stays with you to the very surprising ending. But you'll never be sure about the outcome. Don't read any reviews that tell you the plot. Just go and sit there ignorant, and have a wonderful time.
