It´s sounds quite interesting but there´s a movie coming after "TONIGHT HE COMES" about superheroes too (the main role is played by Uma Thurman;she´s a superwoman in the middle of a crisis, her boyfriend broke up with her and she´ll try to back with him using her superpowers).
Maybe this film will affects TONIGHT HE COMES...
That's a full out comedy. I don't believe that "Tonight" is comedy.

Radewart I'd like to get your thoughts on this movie.. what do you think? Will it be successful? good choice for Will?
I think it will be a good one. It was considered one of the best unmade scripts by several people. Michael Mann(Ali, Collateral, Heat), who is one of my favorite directors, was attached to director at one point. I trust his taste. He's still a producer on it.
From what I read, the script is pretty serious though. So, I hope Will keeps it that way. I would like to see a big blockbuster film that Will still needs to do some good dramatic acting in. I liked "I, Robot", but there were a few too many "Will Smith" moments in there.

Now he has officially agreed to do it. IMDB will sometimes put up a project that's not gonna happen.

Will Smith and director Jonathan Mostow have committed to Tonight, He Comes -- a development that has Columbia Pictures eyeing a production start in Los Angeles by next summer, reports Variety.
Vince Gilligan rewrote Vincent Ngo's script. Sony Pictures Entertainment's Amy Pascal acquired the project earlier this year in a bidding battle.
Smith will play a disaffected and underappreciated superhero in a mid-life crisis. Akiva Goldsman and Michael Mann will produce with Smith and his Overbrook Entertainment partner, James Lassiter.
Smith just completed starring for Columbia with son Jaden and Thandie Newton in The Pursuit of Happyness, a Gabrielle Muccino-directed drama.
Mostow will push back two projects: Swiss Family Robinson, a film he rewrote with Sam Montgomery for Disney and Mandeville's David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, and Terminator 4

They are already done with filming?! damn. Then they have a lot of time for the post production if they really want to release the movie a little before Oscar time. For how long did they shoot? Didn't they just start in September?

There has been buzzing about another chess movie in the works. The chess community may remember that the book, "I Choose to Stay" was unveiled with great fanfare and became a best-seller. Disney took an interest in the story and is currently in negotiations to develop a script for a movie. However, progress has been gradual and Salome Thomas-EL has been on a whirlwind tour to discuss the book and the story therein. The reaction has been one of enthusiasm and support.
Thomas-EL visited McMinniville, Oregon where he discussed his story of triumph and how chess played a role in positively shaping the lives of inner-city youth. Despite what websites are reporting, Will Smith has not agreed to play the lead role. Initial negotiations are underway while the script is being developed. An interesting discussion has blossomed on Mig Greengard's Daily Dirt, a popular web blog. Posting a lengthy reply, Thomas-EL clarified the confusion:
"I stated in Oregon that I was meeting with Will Smith to discuss his interest in my movie. I never said Will would play me because we don't have the script yet. I have sent emails to several web sites asking for a correction. It is unfair to Will to communicate that message."
Certainly, chess enthusiasts will be waiting in anticipation for a movie rendition of "I Choose to Stay." Integrating chess in the educational curricula has become a hot agenda item for many schools across the nation. Figures such as Thomas-EL and GM Maurice Ashley are loud voices trumpeting this tune. Ashley has recently released a book titled, "Chess for Success" which affirms the story told by Thomas-EL.

Go to the new Overbrook web site, www.overbrookent.com, and then go to productions. Click on films and then development in the upper right corner. There's alot of films that i have heard of before, but a couple I haven't. Now, these are films that Will will produce, but I'm sure a couple he's slated to star in.

Late november/december are when the studios roll out their oscar hopefuls. "Pursuit" is one of Sony's big oscar pictures for next year, propably. Oscar films in spring are usually forgotten by fall and ones in summer are overlooked by big blockbuster. They do poorly at the box office (Cinderalla Man). THe later in fall, the more people start talking oscar. He could start filming "Time Share" like in January/Febuary, and it could be ready for a early fall release. But, Nic Cage has alot of films on his plate.

The cast for Ali was great. It's just that Michael Mann (who is one of my favorite directors) made such odd choices with the film. He didn't make a very commercially friend film. It drags too much in some scenes, jumps around too much, and touches on too many subjects without really digging deep on any of them.

Dan Castellaneta, a three-time Emmy winner as the voice of Homer Simpson in "The Simpsons," has been cast in Columbia Pictures' Will Smith starrer "Pursuit of Happyness." Castellaneta plays Alan Frakesh, the office manager of the company where Smith becomes an intern. The actor recently completed a run in Ron Hutchinson's "Moonlight and Magnolias" at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. He is repped by Don Buchwald, Forster-Delaney Management and Steve Younger.

Why wouldn't they be able to handle it? This is Overbrook. They did a pretty good job on Hitch...
This may not be a high grossing film like Hitch, but I think it's an inspirational story that is true... I think that the producers can handle it...
My bad, I wasn't meaning the producers, I was actually indicating to the director,
Gabriele Muccino, who hasn't really made an impact as a director.
Will recruited him, so he must like him. But, I hope he isn't just a pawn in Will and the other producers hand. I not knocking Will, but he's a big star, so he gets what he wants. I just hope they allow the director to make his vision of the film. That's why I kinda question the casting of Jaden. Was that the director's idea or Will's?
