  1. These are genuine but also very fun. I like that you are taking the goal seriously but not taking yourself seriously. I hope something comes of it. Welcome to the board!
  2. Don't you like it when the good guys win? Thank God! Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind if they got permission to release this as a free mixtape, but to release an Aaliyah album that is remixed and doctored by new kids who are all about commercial sounds and not having a tie to her and her music, that would have been disgusting.
  3. Noah '40' Shebib Pulled Plug on Aaliyah Album "I just wanted nothing to do with it," Shebib says of "politics" and bad press surrounding posthumous project. By Latifah Muhammad Posted: 01/08/2014 10:23 AM EST The public never got to hear the end results of Drake's and Noah "40" Shebib's work on a new Aaliyah album, and now we finally know why. Shebib walked from the project because of all the bad press and "politics" surrounding the release, he said in a new Vibe.com interview. Aaliyah's family members — Jomo and Barry Hankerson of her former label home Blackground Records — approached Shebib to helm the posthumous album. "Her uncle and cousin came to me and said if she was around she'd want you to do this," he shared. Drizzy wasn't attached initially, Shebib explained. "I’ve been obsessed with Aaliyah forever, and I know Drake has his relationship with her. But that opportunity was mine," said the producer. "Drake said, 'Can I do it with you?' and I was like, 'Of course, we’ll do it together.’” In 2012, Drake confirmed that he was executive producing the release, leading to less-than-excited responses from Timbaland and Missy Elliott. The story snowballed, with Timbo essentially laughing off the idea of Drizzy working on Aaliyah's music. The Timbo factor, and more, ended things for Shebib. "The world reacting to Drake’s involvement so negatively, I just wanted nothing to do with it,” he admitted. "That was a very sad experience for me. I was naïve to the politics surrounding Aaliyah’s legacy and a bit ignorant to Timbaland’s relationship and everybody else involved and how they’d feel. Tim said to me 'Don’t stop, make the album.' I think that was Tim taking the position of, 'I’m not going to stop you. If you’re not going to do it, that’s your decision.' But ultimately, I wasn’t comfortable and didn’t like the stigma." In the end, words from Aaliyah's mother pretty much lampooned the entire attempt. "We released ['Enough Said'], but I was seven songs deep," Shebib explained. "[Aaliyah's] mother saying, 'I don't want this out' was enough for me. I walked away very quickly." 4. Is he still working with Ayah? Ayah changed her name to Merna last year, and from the song or 2 that I've heard, she's gone edgy and abandoned her original sound (it's not as good).
  5. I don't follow him that closely. I certainly like he's 90's stuff better, but I like this. Granted only 2 or 3 songs might make it on one of my mixes, but free music that isn't LIl' Wayne/Drake/Rick Ross/Icky Minaj is free music that isn't LIl' Wayne/Drake/Rick Ross/Icky Minaj.
  6. He just dropped a new album...AND IT'S FREE. I know some of you will appreciate. http://www.okayplayer.com/news/del-the-funky-homosapien-iller-than-most-free-ep-stream.html#.UsmbFfuvxlQ Del The Funky Homosapien- ‘Iller Than Most’ LP Stream To continue with the good tidings of the new year, Del The Funky Homosapien dropped some heat on us with this free (ninety-nine) LP Iller Than Most, described by the man himself as “futuristic and fun- but still on some Hiphop ****.” 2013 was a busy year for the endlessly bountiful West Coast icon, getting back with band Deltron 3030 and dropping not one, but two LPs, including a one-off for the legendary Hieroglyphics crew. And if this stands as any implication to what he has in store for us this year, we can all look forward to another fruitful year from the Funky Homosapien. Go ahead and get the year started right, stream Del’s Iller Than Most LP below.
  7. To be honest, I'm not surprised that he hasn't said anything yet. Here's my reasons; like it was mentioned above, he hasn't completely embraced social media. That would be the fastest way for him to get something out there. Secondly, he's is/was in Dubai. He's not in familiar surroundings and probably wants to say something when he's in his element at home, when reality has set in. Additionally, all of the focus is on him since the show mostly focused on his character and because he is the most successful of the cast members. Lastly, FP's never had to deal with a headlining death before. No one knows how he grieves. He may be really shaken and doesn't want to share it his thoughts, words, and feelings just yet. Let's be honest, James is a huge part of his success and abilities. FP came on that TV show not knowing anything about professional acting. James' insight and assistance made "Willywood." In the early days, James could have been like "I'm way too good for this role, this show, and to be playing second fiddle to this rapper"...but he wasn't. I imagine a lot of things are buzzing in his head right now and he wants to make sure that what he says/shares, will be the best statement he can put together.
  8. It's funny how in an age where old school Hip-Hop is something most new music fans don't even know exists, and a time when most people download songs instead of buying CDs, artists/groups like Eric B. + Rakim, Pete Rock + CL Smooth, Run DMC, Marley Marl, Biz Markie, and Jungle Brothers have all gotten deluxe or re-release treatment to their albums. There's certainly no reason groups like JJ+FP shouldn't get the same treatment. Especially since they'd like sell better than most of the groups/artists I just mentioned.
  9. Nothing too new from this article from MTV, but I still wanted to share it... http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1719768/james-avery-death-reaction.jhtml

  12. Actually, he dropped it on or around Christmas, but for some reason, I just saw it. Why a new song/video and then a video talking about stepping away from music within the same week?!?
  13. Apprently my comment didn't stick to this thread. I noticed when Alfonso broke the news on Facebook and Twitter around 1pm today. My heart sank. James Avery is recognized on our favorite sitcom, but there was so much more to his gift than Uncle Phil. I wouldn't be taking any liberties when I say his is literally one of the best actors of all time. I haven't seen ALL of his work, but I've seen some of it and FPofBA was only a small part of his capabilities. While we saw some sincere and comical moments on the show, the man could pull off a wide range of characters. I remember how mind-blown I was when I found out he also did the voice of the Shredder on the 80's/90's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoons. He played a similar character in Sparks, but I loved that show as well. Beyond all of that, he seemed to be incredibly humble and giving. He was probably the best actor on the FBofBA, but wasn't condescending those with fewer credentials. He's an icon and his legacy will certainly always be around due to the many projects he was involved in. My prayers go out to his friends and family who are affected at this time.
  14. Apparently FP and Jada kicked with Maxwell and Tyrese for Tyrese's birthday while in Dubai. His connection with others in urban music is so strong...what's the hold up on music. He's got two of the greatest modern R&B/Soul artists in his company!!
  15. But then there's this...which he dropped today... Here's the FREE download... https://soundcloud.com/kel-spencer/kel-spencer-crazy-christmas I suppose he's at least getting this project out. As supporters, let's make this count for him.
  16. I saw the clip on Jazzy's Facebook/Instagram. I peed a little.

  18. I was just going to post this. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Jeffrey Ian Pollack Dead at 54 Dec 26th 2013 7:04PM HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. (AP) -- A producer of TV's "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" and writer-director of "Above the Rim" has died. Police say Jeffrey Ian Pollack was found collapsed early Monday morning in the Greenbelt jogging area of Hermosa Beach, about 20 miles southwest of Los Angeles. Pollack was 54. Authorities said Thursday they do not suspect foul play. Pollack was wearing jogging clothes and carrying an iPod when a passer-by discovered him and contacted police. Pollack produced several seasons of "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," as well as a Jennifer Lopez concert documentary. Besides "Above the Rim," Pollack directed the films "Booty Call" and "Lost & Found."
  19. Merry Christmas, er'ybody. , Jesus!
  20. I'm sooooooo freakin' hype for this new album. This will likely be a musical highlight for me in 2014.
  21. Congrats, Coz. I'd like to see this be a hit. I don't think Pitbull is any good, but this is the best I've ever heard him. Rick Ross always sounds like his raps are recorded on the first day started rapping, and that's the same here. Even Fat Joe's appearance is tired. In the end I like that they are at least giving a nod to true Hip-Hop with the same. It blew my mind when I heard a DJ at the end.
  22. Bad Boys is one of the few movies that FP has done that deserves a sequel on every level. I'm not heavy into films; I like what I like and I don't like what I don't like. That being said, I'm not crazy about specific actors, directors, etc. For Bad Boys, it definitely has to be FP, Martin, and Michael Bay. It's their world and won't be as great as the other films without involvement from all three of them. I feel the article is weird because BB3 was never abandoned, like they kinda lead on to. They've spoken about it openly from time to time over the years, and it's not like it didn't take ages for the second one to be made. I'm bummed to see that MIB is being rebooted. To me, Bad Boys and Men In Black are the only movies he's done that I feel could go on forever. On top of thatI, Robot, Sharktale, Wild Wild West (yeah, I said it) and maybe Enemy of the State are the only others I feel might deserve one or two more movies if the scripts were right. The others have stories that don't need sequels or they simply weren't good enough for them (yeah, I'm talking about you, Hancock). I suppose keeping Tommy Lee Jones involved in MIB and where they left off on the last film is a good spot to end them, but I believe they could keep going. And why did they bring up up Ghostbusters? I feel that's just bad luck by mentioning it...lol.
