1. Will freestyled alot when he waz fresh on the scene. It waz one of the things he waz known 4. However, after u establish yourself, there's certain things that take a backseat 2 life...and i think freestyling waz one of them. Then again, we never hear him do it so who knows. Someone saw him perform overseas w/ Wyclef and they freestyled 2gether in the summer of 2002.
2. I grew up on him. His "Please Hammer, Don't Hurt 'Em" album waz the 1st Hip-Hop cassette i actually bought (previous JJ+FP, LL, Digital Underground, Run DMC, etc waz all tapped off the radio or off my friends' older siblings' stuff). I don't think he's lacks on the mic at all, he's got the lyrics, he's got the creativity, he's got the flow and i like his voice. Not 2 mention the fact that he can tear up any stage or dance floor. MC Hammer waz never a sell out. He took the millions he made and put that in2 his community and in2 organizations around the world. He's also waz one of the biggest employers of black people. He'd pay them just 2 stand there (literally). After 2 Legit 2 Quit dried up a little sooner than expected, he fought 2 keep people on (which lead 2 the money troubles). He is definitly a soilder that Hip-Hop needs right now. He's positive, intellectual, and has a heart of people and the art...that's what makes him a great person.
3. That's hilarious....sounds like something i'd do. I've written some crazy stuff in2 the shows i've done.
4. Hey, he's young and in shape....take advantage of it while u can. As long as he keeps his dangling un-mentionables 2 himself.
5. 2day i had a mix CD with Nina Sky, Janet, Avant, Mis-teeq, etc......listening 2 Sean Paul right now.
6. Wild Child...i don't understand how u are so confused. Here it is in the simplest explanation i can come up with. JJ+FP is known for respectable rhymes without heavy cussing. That stems from FP's grandmother telling him that intellegent people didn't need 2 use those kinda words 2 get their point across. When Homebase came around, JJ+FP waz regrouping and hardcore rap and gangsta rap really started getting big. As a joke, Will wrote this song. He pumps up his attitude and comes off kinda hard about this story that is just stupid and funny (who calls a little old lady that word?!?). It's kinda like him poking fun at the phoney stories u hear in gangsta rap...but his is just rediculous. He wazn't trying 2 be hard, he wazn't trying 2 scare old ladies around the country, he waz just making a funny story-telling song 4 the fans. My friend's grandmother thought this song waz hilarious when we made her listen 2 it 10 years ago.
7.
Beastie Boys - To The 5 Boroughs (BTW AJ did you get hold of this album yet? You wont be dissapointed)
I'm waiting 2 hear it in the store b4 i buy it since i've never been a big Beastie fan b4. I've been in the music store 3 times this week and everytime i've forgotten 2 listen 2 it.
8. Just 2 share...i just started talking 2 this guy who seems 2 be a big MC Hammer fan with some connections. He says that MC Hammer plans on releasing and album this year called "Full Blast." I don't know about that album title, but if the music is anything like that track i saw him rip on that show Dance Fever last year, it'll be dope (far better than Active Duty). The guy also said this tho'...he's still kinda scattered about business and financial stuff. I think MC Hammer, along with Fresh Prince is just want the game needs right now. Somebody with talent needs 2 get on the radio.
9. 2day i listened 2 Musiq, MC Hammer, and The Roots (interesting mix...i know).
10. On BET's Nightly News, they had a really short bit talking about I, Robot's premier. Will talked 2 the interviewer saying something like "I've spent all of my career clothed (must have 4gotten his 1st scene in Wild Wild West), and i've always had a goal to be buck-naked at some point in my career and i felt I, Robot was the right time." It then cut 2 a seperate interview with Jada and she said something like "Will needs to stop. He got in shape to do this nude scene that he didn't have to do just so he could show off his body." It was short, but really funny.
11. Ha ha!! YEAH!! I'm hyped....only a week 2 go. Gotta make some phone calls and get a posse 2gether as i do for every FP movie.
12. U know what's even funnier...FP performed it live on MTV during the Super Bowl Special in 1992!!! I had it on tape by my parents taped over it. I'll never get 2 see that performance again. :violin: They actually released the song as a promo but i doubt it got 2 much play. There's and edited version of the song where they play the b-word backwards so u can't understand it...and 4 some reason they cut the verses up. I have the vinyl promo and if i remember correctly, there's a yellow sticker, Homebase style that talks about the song getting played in all kindsa cities...ha ha.
13. Ha!! That is some pimped out retro gear. I like it 4 a movie premier kinda event. However, i don't like the hat without facial hair. He should ditch the hat OR get his facial hair back while wearing it.
14. Yeah, if it were true, i'm sure it would have been in the news and a law suit would have popped up after the song came out probably. Fresh Prince is known 4 his storytelling (just like Slick Rick) and this waz his early 90's, suddly sarcastic attack at hardcord rap, FP style. Think about how rediculous the story is...if u take it seriously, u miss the comedy in it...another thing FP is known 4.
15. Here's a 1995 interview i came across with Skee-Lo. For those new skool fans, this is the guy that dropped the huge 1995 summertime hit "I Wish." The album of the same title is one of the best albums of the 90's. http://www.the411online.com/skeelo.html
16. I waz lookin' online for info on my favorite emcees the other nite and saved some of the things i came across and i know a few other people will be interested in them. 17. Ready didn't get anything out of it. The judge either favored to Will or thought that the case waz not legit.
18. How do u figure that?!? Hip-Hop borrowed from all music styles 2 get created thanx 2 sampling. The early original trax branched off of disco as well.
19. U have 2 remember that during the 80's and early 90's...Music waz his main area of concentration so while touring, doing award shows, and so on, he met alot of people. Will's got this special tie with the old skool while remaining new skool (how do u think he pulled off all those cameos in the "So Fresh" video). He seems 2 keep his ties strong and giving people who havn't had much attention or fame recently an outlet by working with them. It looks like Will just keeps pushing on, trying new things and testing what other producers can bring out of him.
20. I can't shed any light on the topic...but i can say that it's from a legit source and it stems candidly from the Prince himself.
21. I just recieved this rare vinyl 1999 release by Come Correct Entertainment. This 'single' is dedictated to "Bobbito's Footwork Illadelph." I guess he's a breaker or something. ANYWAYS, this 'single' contains a track called "Hold It Down" by emcee Krush B (who is your average underground emcee...yet light years ahead of the crappy mainstream artists out now) and it's produced by Limitless and Orthodox for A Touch of Jazz. DJ Jazzy Jeff scratchs during every chorus (which is Jeff solo) and at the end. His scratches are kinda like what u hear on Gang Starr trax where it's alot of phrases rather than showing off on the turntable (tho' there's some of that 2). The production on this track is flawless. It's thick and it has this dark vibe 2 it. It reminds u how pathetic most mainstream artists have it when it comes 2 production. The music waz written by Darren "Limitless" Henson. The main version, clean version, and the instrumental w/ just Jeff's scratches are on this single. The flip side has nothing 2 do with Jazzy Jeff or A Touch of Jazz but it dose have a song by Baby Blak on it. His flow is different from his current stuff...he's newer flow is much better. The song is good 2 but he sounds best when he's working with A Touch of Jazz.
22. On August 5th, i'm gonna go down 2 B-more and see Musiq live. :bounce: I'm totally hyped. The prices 4 the tickets were rediculously cheap (no thanx 2 Ticketmaster for their "convenience charge" which costed almost as much as the tickets themselves). I just wanted 2 share. However, it's actually kinda sad cuz i planned on getting tickets 2 see Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick, and Biz Markie...however they were sold out...i shouldn't have waited. :tear:
