  1. I think some things are changing. I think auto-tune is steadily dying. I think the watered down Euro-wanna-be dance sound is slowly dying. The last 5-8 years of music haven't offered much when it came to popular music. When it comes to rap and top 20 songs, they've been forgettable and by artists that are forgettable. It's been painful to watch artists like Usher, Rihanna, Ne-Yo, and Jamie Foxx make embarrassing music that isn't worthy of being mentioned with their previous work. I like some music that gives a nod to music of the past, but I don't think it's going to dominate the future. I appreciate it, but not all of it grabs me. To be honest, I haven't even picked up the new Raphael Saddiq album because I just didn't like it much when I peeped it. I think music is very interesting right now. There's many artists having fun with their music during what many people would say are some of the darkest and most stressful times that much of the world is experiencing. Reading what's in the news is amazing in a disgusting sort of way. Entertainment truly is one of the only real escape that many people have...and many of those people can't even afford it. I think that if musicians and emcees realized what sort of "power" and responsibility they have, we wouldn't the Black Eyed Peas making songs like "Dirty Bit."
  2. Why are we titling this this post with "If"? There's no question that he's back! No surprises here... Emcees: LL Cool J Common Sense Queen Latifah KRS-One Chuck D R-N-B Artists: Boyz II Men Musiq Soulchild Jill Scott Brian McKnight Tatyana Ali Other...if he's feeling experimental and it works: Shaggy Jason Mraz Colbie Caillat Producers: DJ Jazzy Jeff...that's it. But since it looks like he's working with multiple producers, here's a few other... Pete Rock Former A Touch of Jazz Producers DJ Premier Teddy Riley
  3. I think it's funny that everyone is this surprised. He NEVER said he was done rhyming. There was one quote where he said it may be a thing of the past and the quote where Jaden didn't think it was worth it, but that was it. He's the same person he's always been. He still performed from time to time at certain events. This is the longest break he's ever taken from music. Code Red to Big Willie Style was the 2nd longest and look how crazy he stirred up the game back then. This is going to be HUGE. And if the Fresh Prince is huge, then there could be a revival of real Hip-Hop and legendary emcees getting some shine again. I must admit, after seeing official news of this, life is just brighter. U guys need to stop being so negative waiting for him to announce it, he ALWAYS works under that radar at 1st when it comes to his music. He's always liked to keep people guessing. Fact: FP is back!
  4. Who am I kidding, I've been dying 2 get 2 the board since I heard the news!! I TOLD U SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. People these days are so stupid an immature...and ignorant. You don't fight over something so stupid and let it escalate to that. Props to Alfonso for stepping in during a time that most people turn away and ignore it.
  6. LFO - Every Other Time Life Is Good (2001) This whole album reminds me of Summer. I got it and was disappointed that they gave it more of a rock edge...but over time it grew into one of my favorite albums ever. It's been almost a year since Rich passed on. I'm invited to his memorial this Fall. Rest in peace, brother.
  7. It has never settled with me well when someone takes a sample and uses their own talent, lyrics, or subject matter (or lack of it) and tarnishes it due to their musical lackings. This never really happened in the old school. Most popular artists these days are lyrically ignorant or boring, the subject matter is trashy or non-existent, their so-called talent is questionable....and that put their nonsense on top of a classic, credible piece of music. Chuck D is saying something that should have been said a long time ago.
  8. This videos are dope! First we have Fresh Prince the hype man...then he returns to his early stomping grounds for Lady B's 30th...all after showing up are the Charlie Mack event. All this is very refreshing after the last few years. He never said he's retired from rhyming. Everybody needs to quit with that. We all know Jaden is rapping. Some of know FP will be doing the same....it's gonna happen.
  9. I haven't gotten anything new in awhile. There's simply nothing good out and I don't spend the few spare moments of my day looking for underground talent. I've been listening to a lot 90's R-N-B recently. As far as Hip-Hop, I've just be revisiting music by MC Lyte, Skee-Lo, MC Brains and of course, JJ+FP.
  10. This smilies are mad gangsta, son! :bowl:
  11. I like the face lift. You didn't reinvent the wheel...but it's the perfect upgrade! I still miss the red/green forum tho'...lol.
  12. I love Stu Stone. I've heard him be much funnier tho.' This is still dope though. DIGITAL UNDERGROUND - We Already Won (1999)
  13. JANET JACKSON + COOLIO - Runaway (G. Man's Hip-Hop Mix) Runaway (Cassette Single) (1996) Remember when the rappers making guest appearances didn't suck?
  14. TOBYMAC - Funky Jesus Music Tonight (2010) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVVSFf0OVkc
  15. As a person, I feel for whatever pain and addiction she dealt with in life. My condolences go out to her family, friends, and fans. With all due respect, I didn't like her music, her voice, and most of her lyrics at all. That's just my opinion though.
  16. CE CE PENISTON - Keep On Walkin' Finally (1992)
  17. This trailer barely interests me. I just don't find it exciting. I'm happy to see something though. I think it's stupid that they are concluding it though. As long as they have good scripts, more films can follow. They've tapped into villains that have already been done. There's so much more to Batman that can be explored.
  18. I've always liked WWW. Y'all are haters. :mmph:
  19. I haven't heard that in forever. That's was one of my favorite songs at the time. ABASSADOR - Gimmie Dat! The Chop Chop (2008) Get past the first few seconds of auto-tune before u judge this song. I just stumbled across his music.
  20. Ha ha...sorry...I mean a few days ago. It was on AOL News 2 or 3 days ago.
  21. I read this a few years ago. Unlike most celeb break-ups, this one kinda upset me. They seemed like great couple who was really happy and they complimented each other...the kind of couple you actually root for. I guess she couldn't go any longer without me.
