  1. Gracias a ti VIsqo, yeah I love it when Will plays serious roles, so I can't wait to see this movie. I must be the only 1 :lolsign: I'm with you on this one brother....so you're not the only one;) I don't know if that's good news or bad news for you, maybe you wanted to feel special;) The only reason why I'm not excited is that after SP we'll have to wait over a year for his next movie...and even then it might be one of the many crappy-sounding movies he recently declared interest in doing. Here's hoping that it's going to be either "Empire" or "The Last Pharaoh" and not "I Am Not Legend Yet", "Hancock 2" or "Oldboy"...
  2. Am I reading all this wrong or is that movie actually receiving positive reviews...some even very positive? If so....way to go Will;)
  3. I'm sort of an amateur/independent filmmaker here in Poland. Me and my friend made two short movies so far but we didn't win a single award on any of the independent film festivals because they were both crime/action movies. Audiences loved them (the first one at least, the second one got mixed responses) but the juries preferred something deeper, more meaningful so we said to ourselves "hey, let's do one of those then so we get recognized and our names will actually mean something"...working on a script now. There's nothing wrong with pursuing an Oscar or any award for that matter as long as it motivates you to pick the right movies. Will's problem is not his tendency for Oscar-bait type movies like POH or 7P, his problem is that he picks mediocre scripts while he probably rejects quite a few decent ones. I'll bet all the money in my pocket (actually that's not too much but for the sake of the argument let's pretend that it is) that Steven Spielberg one day said to himself: "You know what? I'm tired of being known mainly for the Indiana Jones movies and other action/adventure stuff. I wanna be taken seriously." And what did that give us? "The Schindler's List"!! Granted, Spielberg being Jewish and all, the movie was a personal venture for him but I'm pretty sure my point still stands...
  4. He did say he wanted to take a year-long break after "Pounds" and given that he finished shooting it somwehere around July, we probably have a few more months before we hear anything official...but my money would be on either "The Last Pharaoh" or the I Am Legend prequel (barf)...
  5. http://goodbaduglymovies.blogspot.com/2008...ven-pounds.html All that, yet an 8/10? Did I miss something? I think what he meant was that after some editing it could very easily deserve an 8/10 rating. Besides, it's pretty obvious that it's gonna rely heavily on Will's performance and he may make it a better film than it actually is. Think about last year's "There Will Be Blood". As good a film as that one was, take away Daniel Day Lewis's performance and what you're left with is a seriously overrated film in my oppinion. Nowhere near as brilliant as "No Country For Old Men". I found the film to be a bit boring at parts with way too many scenes that quite simply dragged forever but Day Lewis made it all work because the movie essentially was about greed, lust for power and the need to succeed above all else so it all came down to his character and his portrayal of that man. "Seven Pounds" sounds like a movie about redemption, trying to find meaning in life in places where it seems lost for good so it will also come down to Will's character. I don't know why but I'm way more optimistic about that movie than I was about Hancock (and I loved that movie BTW;) ). February can't come soon enough.
  6. Guys, is it just me or is that woman getting hotter and hotter as years go by? She seriously looked beautiful during that interview.. And yes Will, do your Thanksgiving stuff and go to work....on movies, not music ;>
  7. Thanks Rad, I knew that sooner or later you'd be the one with some good news. You sir are a gentleman and a scholar :) Sony may think that this is going to be big not in terms of financial success but more of an artistic success. Let's wait and see. One thing is for sure: given the depressing nature of the story, the movie is gonna make Pursuit Of Happyness look like "Home Alone".
  8. I don't think so. He'll probably start filming 'Empire' in January. What makes you say that? I thought Michael Mann was supposed to direct "Empire" but in January he'll probably be doing post-prod work on "Public Enemies"....
  9. Now that IS cool. The downside is that it seems like a Summer 2010 release at the earliest. So after "Seven Pounds" we're looking at 18 months of no Will Smith movies :(
  10. Hey, I don't know if anybody else noticed but they added the movie's tagline on its imdb page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0814314/ It says: "In seven days God created the world... in seven seconds He shattered mine." Not bad, would work better if the movie was actually titled "7 seconds". I can already see this movie being even more depressing than "tPoH" and that movie made me wanna reach for a blade.... Cheers
  11. I agree. They're jerking people around a little bit. They have 5 months till the movie opens out and I'm guessing that apart from guys and girls on this forum not a lot of people are even aware of this movie at this point. They were a few on set pictures and videos but so much stuff with other movies happening since then (like the buzz around the Dark Knight - which I'm seeing today...hooray!!!) "7 pounds" is completely under the radar. Who's the boss around here? Radewart, TopDawg, MissAshley - pull some strings, put your top men to work on the subject so we can find out ANYTHING, c'mon ;)
  12. "I Am NOT Legend YET" ...here's a good title, hope they pay me if they use it ;) I'm not even bothered by that announcement. They made announcements like that after every movie with Will that made a lot of money (I, Robot; Men In Black 2, Hancock, Bad Boys 2) and Will always said he'd be interested because seriously, what was he gonna say? "Hell no, I would never do that"? He's too nice of a guy for crap like that! "I Am Legend" was a very good movie and I think it's the type of movie that should not be prquelised or sequelised (do those words even exist?) because there's no NEED for that. We (or anyone with half a brain) can imagine what happened beforehand and we don't have to see what happened afterwards. It's perfect as it is, on its own. Too often great movies or movie sagas are ruined by unworthy sequels ("Indiana Jones and The Kingdom....", "Matrix Revolutions and Reloaded", "X-Men: The Last Stand") The only Will Smith sequel that I actually really really hope will happen is "Bad Boys 3"!! The first two were hilarious action spectacles with fun characters that I wouldn't mind revisiting over and over again! Robert Neville is a legend, let's leave it at that and let him rest in peace! Cheers
  13. Yay, I finally watched it!!! I have to rewatch it though cuz I saw it alone the day after my girlfriend broke up with me so I don't exactly have the nicest memories when it comes to that first viewing;) Still, I think it was pretty great. Not perfect, but great! Of course most of it relied on Will and he carried it so well. It was an interesting breath of fresh air to watch him play that kind of character: unlikable, addicted, offensive and sarcastic. Charlize and Jason were amazing as well. Each of them had an important part to add to the entire story and they rocked the s**t out of their roles. What I loved about the film was how original it was. It was unlike anything we've ever seen on the big screen. A very interesting idea in fact! Wonder what it was like before the hundreds of rewrites.... Now, the stuff I didn't like. The shaky cam - WAY too much of it. Anybody suffering from motion sickness should stay away from this movie. I know that sometimes the whole "handheld camera" thing works magic but this time it was just too much off it. My biggest complaint about the movie is that it was too short. I didn't mind the jumping between genres because every part of the movie worked on its own. The comedy was funny, the action was cool and the drama was intense and believable. So no, I don't think (like many of our precious reviewers) that the filmmakers didn't know what movie they wanted to make. Every part worked but it was just happening way too fast. The upside is that the movie isn't boring but the huge downside is that parts of the movie seem underdeveloped. Maybe the director's cut will be better :) The music was cool, the CGI was perfect and I love the fact that one of the funniest scenes was not in the trailers (Will, Charlize and the rolling pin scene in the kitchen behind Jason's back). All in all I give the movie a solid 8 out of 10! Not as good as I Am Legend but definitely worth watching. Cheers
  14. Oh c'mon...everything he said was funny.....unintentionally perhaps but still :)
  15. Thanks for that, it was hilarious. Dare I say it? Jason was funnier than Will in this interview which is not an easy thing to do. Very sharp, witty and well-spoken humor came from him. I was surprised. "Without that wig, you read male!" :D:D
  16. hahaha...:D I laughed out lout when I read your post viber:) "Look and read carefully this glowing and positive review of Hancock....there's another one but that one is negative so who gives a s**t about that? " :) I love how "objective" we all are on this forum about Will's movies :D I do the same thing just in case anyone takes offence in what I just wrote. Cheers
  17. I guess Will is done with "Seven Pounds" because he seems to look a bit different than he did when he was shooting that film. Look how his moves and gestures towards people were bit automatic :) I'm not saying he wasn't nice but he's been doing that for so long now that it probably was like "Damn, another boring day at the office" :)
  18. Can somebody translate what this guy wrote...seriously, I thought my English was pretty good but I'm not sure I understood everything the guy had to say. Was it just me or did that feel like one long sentence? :) Anyway, at least he liked it. I'm seriously confused by what to expect from this movie at this point. First, I thought it was gonna be good, then the first reviews showed up and lowered my expectations. Then some good reviews showed up together with the second awesome trailer and my hopes were up again. Now we're hearing all this talk about the reshoots, the MPAA rating problems etc.. and I'm confused again. I'm just gonna go in with an open mind and see what happens.
  19. I don't know why but to me this seems more like "I, Robot" - a lot of funny scenes but there's actually a gritty story behind it all. I like this clip and I can't wait to see the trailer - it looks promising. I wish they put a clip out there somewhere that would feautre Charlize Theron's character talking...at least for a little while...because I'm starting to worry that she plays a mute character.
  20. Exactly, it's like "The Pursuit of Happyness" where he also wore a suit for 90% of the movie. Maybe mr Muccino likes his men nicely and fashionably dressed;) Comingsoon also posted this: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=44569 I don't get why they call it the "first look", maybe they should visit this forum more often and then they would see that we've had dozens of set pics way before:)
  21. Whoops! Well, I'm still looking forward to this one. If you think about it the thing they really didn't like is that it turned out no to be an action comedy...which is what WE all were hoping for, right? Let's wait and see...
  22. I'm excited as hell. I like his music but I think he's a LOT better at acting and I, for one, would not be sad at all if his musical activities got reduced to performing every now and then. He already has a Grammy, all kinds of MTV awards and sold MILLIONS of records so there isn't much left for him to achieve in that field. He should focus on acting. And how cool is this? If everything goes according to plan we'll have 3 Will Smith movies this year. "Hancock" in the summer and "Seven Pounds" with "Chicago Seven" in December. I know that he would most likely be in like two or three scenes in the "Chicago Seven" but still, that's a pretty good year for Will's movie fans:) P.S. How cool would it be if he got nominated for Best Actor Oscar for "Pounds" and Best Supporting Actor for "Chicago Seven"?? :D
  23. It was late at night so however unlikely it is not as bothering that there were no other cars in the tunnel. The trucks couldn't smash the car because they were machines who were operating on the old system, 3 laws safe. They could not have been used to harm a person, but the new robots had the uplink override which made it possible for them to try and kill Spooner. Like I said, I agree that I thought he would be a more serious character but the fact that he wasn't didn't disappoint me because he was still good. Kinda this cocky, sarcastic old-school type detective.
  24. There was no Del Spooner in the "I, Robot" stories so how could you have had expectations towards the character? I loved I, Robot but I do agree that there was too much of Big Willy in that movie. I'm not saying he was bad (that scene when he's describing the accident - really moved the s**t out of me) but it would have been better if he was a bit grittier. I thought that the script was really good. The story really believable, the characters and their motives very well put together (except for Farber - one of the must useless characters ever) It was one of the few summer blockbusters where the action sequences served the story unlike most where the story serves the action sequences ("Bad Boys 2" for example).
  25. Well, I don't think its that great for us. If will started to do smaller roles in big films and not so big films (c'mon will, you should make more independent films), maby that means that we'll get to see him more often. You're right. What I meant was kind of a joke - as in we get to see our favourite actor doing his thing for 2 hours straight with no-one stealing his thunder;) Which is quite allright but I agree with you that he should do more stuff like "Pursuit Of Happyness" or "The Trial Of The Chicago 7" and if he really wants to do blockbusters - give us more movies like "I Am Legend" - seriously, it was one of the most ambitious, artsy blockbusters I've seen in a loooong time.
