New York rap veteran Nas has finally announced the long-awaited release date for his new Life Is Good solo album, revealing it will hit store shelves around mid-summer.

If all goes accordingly, Nasty Nas' latest solo effort will arrive mid-July.

""LIFE IS GOOD" - JULY 17th, 2012!!! #LIFEISGOOD717 http://tmblr.co/ZxeGrvKEULtA," Nas tweeted April 24th.

Last month, the Queens, New York-bred emcee hinted at what fans could expect from the record.

"It's been a long time, it's been years since I released a solo studio album, so this record is everything," he says. "This is everything that I've got to say--I guess you've got to live a little and you put that in your music, so it's coming from my life. ... A lot of the tracks have [come from ideas] where I would take an idea from one of the guys that I'm working with and try to put it together with a different sound that I had in my head, or with someone else. ... just try to get people to collaborate who are not really used to working together and to get something different from me." His new "Don" single premiered online a few week ago.

Nas comes back with a vengeance on "The Don," the heavy-hitting single off his upcoming 10th album. Produced by Salaam Remi, Da Internz, and the late Heavy D ("Heavy D gave this beat to Salaam for me to rap to"), the reggae-flavored tune features Nasty Nas in top form, touting tough bars over a rasta hook. Welcome back "The Don." (Rap-Up)

In February, he broke the news of his album's long-awaited completion.

"Ayo Jung! Ya Bday comin!! We goin in. 5 days NONSTOP!!! Plus we celebrating my LP being WRAPPED!!!!!!," he tweeted February 23rd. (Nas' Twitter)

I usually like Nas' albums but they usually don't stick with me too long. I'm not sure. I'm happy to hear he's coming back out. The Heavy D-produced alone has me sold on the album. It's important to support artists the don't suck in these days.

Nas and KRS-One are the last of the few true mcs that're still bringing that real hip hop here in 2012

Rap veteran Nas is so focused on dropping his upcoming Life Is Good this summer that he is willing to postpone talks of speculated joint efforts amongst the likes of Common, AZ and other artists.

Offering an open-ended perspective on what the future could hold, Nasty Nas said his focus is firmly on putting out a solo effort.

"You know, we were doing an Illmatic show with Rock the Bells [last year]," Nas recently told XXL about longtime partner in rhyme, AZ. "He came through and held a n*gga down. It's always good getting up with my n*gga. That album [illmatic], we just had the 18th anniversary [in April]. We were just young bucks in the game, trying to get in. ... We'll always have that moment," God's Son added. "It takes me back to the time when we were doing a lot of records together. But yeah, I've been four years away from a solo album. I'm just getting back into the game. Once I get back into the game, you never know what could happen." (XXL Mag)

Last December, Common announced plans to drop a joint LP alongside Nas called NasDotCom.

The awesomeness that is Common and Nas' collaboration on the former's latest single, "Ghetto Dreams," could lead to more than we might have expected. In an interview with Fake Shore Drive, the Chicago rapper revealed that he's working on a joint album with Nas. I don't have to tell you that we're excited about the prospect of a project like this, but holy sh*t, that would be amazing. You wouldn't only have two of the best rappers of all time rapping together, but you would also have Com helping out in the beat-selection department. Imagine him and Nas rapping over an album's worth of beats from No I.D., Kanye West, and Salaam Remi. Lordy. (Prefix Mag)

Music producer DJ Premier recently revealed his aim to hook-up with Nasir Jones for a collaborative effort.

"[With] Nas, it's always fun to work with him because we have a formula and vibe that already works. It's not difficult. It's like seeing a long lost cousin like, 'D*mn, I ain't seen you in years. Let's get back to what we used to do.' I submitted some tracks, so hopefully those will work, but if not, he and I are still going to do the Nas/Premier album," he said. "But he has other albums that come before, but we're still going to do it, we've spoken about it." (Hard Knock TV)

In late April, the music veteran announced the Life Is Good release date.

""LIFE IS GOOD" - JULY 17th, 2012!!! #LIFEISGOOD717 http://tmblr.co/ZxeGrvKEULtA," Nas tweeted April 24th.
