  1. On Ludacris' new album, "Theatre of the Mind" he quotes Will twice.

on "What them girls like" he says "But you should grab yourself a seat and a whiskey double, because the girls of the world ain't nothin but trouble"

and then on "One more drink" he says "So I, slowly walked up an said 'Hi, My name is Ludacris and I'm a hell of a guy'"....which quotes the jj&fp's "girls ain't nothin but trouble" and "parents just don't understand"

and THEN if that's not enough, on The-Dream's song "Rockin that thang (remix)" Ludacris' verse makes reference to Will's song "candy" when he says "I'm ready to take the milky way to your hershey's kiss"....coincidence?? i think not

sounds like he's just been listening to a lot of Will's records lately or somethin

    Awesome! :)

  2. I consider it a diss. Especially seen as though he followed it up by wearing a Will Smith mask and saying something like "Oh, I toned it down this year, kept it clean for all the fans" at the Grammys. Anyone else remember that?

Come on, I know what some people are getting at with the 'diss not being too serious'. It happens in Hip-Hop, but not in this instance.

  3. Hey homie I got another quote for ya here too from Skillz where he defends Will from when Eminem made "Real Slim Shady":

    http://www.allhiphop.com/stories/features/...2/20324313.aspx

"Right. And I didn’t appreciate it. Especially after he had been to Jazzy Jeff’s studio, recorded a song with Jazzy Jeff and Will. You know, who the f**k is going to meet the Fresh Prince and be cocky? We all wanted to be the Fresh Prince. What n***a wouldn’t want the career the Fresh Prince has had? What n***a wouldn’t use that as inspiration?

When he said, “Will Smith don’t have to curse in his raps to sell records but I do/so f**k him and f**k you too,” I was like, nah, B. Not after you was just down there in the studio! I ain’t appreciate that."

Damn. I'm glad Skillz had the balls to stand up and say that. Not many do, in defence of the Prince.

Great stuff. Skillz is one of my favourite rappers; and one of the most slept-on too!

  4. I think the best track off the album could've been "Born To Reign" had it been over 2 minutes! I remember when I first heard it and I thought it was gonna set the tone for the album and then the whole album fell off. The tracks I do like still dont rank in a top 10 list for me at all.

To quote Will from "Pump Up the Bass" off "Hes the DJ, I'm the Rapper" ..theres a simple formula Will needs for hit records..

JEFF + PRINCE = HIT RECORDS ...SOUNDS SO EASY, WORD I KNOW IT DOES!

Agreed. 'Born To Reign' really grabbed me when I first heard it. I couldn't understand why it was so short.

  5. I know it's cliche to say 'Born to Reign', but I'm gonna go with that anyway, 'cause I'd be lying if I said anything different. I think Will had some nice concepts for the album, but the execution wasn't always up to scratch. And then, of course, there's that god-awful Men in Black II single. Urgh.

    What does everyone else think?

  6. I heard a few rumours when I was growing up listening to Will's music that he used to take part in live battle raps. Apparently, he took on Big Daddy Kane in the final of one of them, and matched him all the way. Can someone clarify this? I searched the web numerous times but am yet to find nothing. I'm intrigued.
