Will to decide between MIB3 and The City That Sailed films
Ale replied to BDuncan's topic in Will Smith Movies
I'd pick 'Men In Black 3'. He needs to make a comeback in Hollywood and that's the best project to do it, apart from 'Bad Boys 3'. 'City' can wait IMO. Let's just hope it's better than the second part. Thanks for sharing BDuncan. Here is the source: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118016832.html?categoryid=13&cs=1 -

Jaden Smith's Karate Kid injury Jaden Smith's biggest injury on the set of The Karate Kid didn't happen during an action scene - but while he was filming a quiet moment with his love interest. The 12-year-old - son of Hollywood actors Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith - stars opposite Jackie Chan in the remake of the 80s classic, as a young boy who moves to China and is bullied by a kung fu gang, and falls for a classmate, Mei Ying. Jaden said: "The worst I got hurt was in a dialogue scene - I actually was just walking up to Mei Ying, it's the first time I ever see her, and boom, my knee was just killing me, I was like, what the heck, you know? I had to ice it and everything." The movie was screened at the annual ShoWest convention in Las Vegas, where Jaden won the Breakthrough Male Star Of The Year award. Will and his wife Jada produced the film, along with Jerry Weintraub, who produced the original and its sequels. Jaden revealed: "My dad had the idea of remaking it. He's the one who was like, 'We need to make this movie'." Will told the ShoWest audience: "It's very scary when you go back and fiddle around with a classic." Martial arts star Chan teaches his young prodigy kung fu in the movie but Jaden said the filmmakers kept the original title out of respect for their source material and because The Karate Kid has such name recognition among audiences. He also revealed Chan taught him to, "stay fast and stay focused" http://www.metro.co.uk/showbiz/818355-jaden-smiths-karate-kid-injury

Will Smith To Produce 'Overboard' remake with Jennifer Lopez
Ale posted a topic in Will Smith Movies
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Jennifer Lopez is in talks to star in the remake of the romantic comedy "Overboard." The 1987 movie, which starred Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn and was directed by Garry Marshall, centered on a snooty, spoiled woman who falls off her yacht and is taken to the hospital by a local, morally challenged carpenter. When she wakes up with amnesia, he convinces her she is his wife, thereby getting a free housekeeper for his four boys. Adam Cooper and Bill Collage worked on the current script, as did Leslie Dixon. Will Smith is producing the Columbia Pictures project with his Overbrook Entertainment partner James Lassiter. Lopez, who hasn't appeared in a movie since 2006's "El Cantante," next stars in the romantic comedy "The Back-up Plan," which opens April 23. http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory?id=10143823 -

Thursday promo for the short-lived Out All Night (featuring a guest {crossover?} appearance by Karyn Parsons from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) and A Different World. Out All Night, like the Fresh Prince, was created by Andy and Susan Borowitz, so I'm curious as to whether this was a generic guest spot or a crossover in continuity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NAjd708TPQ

I don't know what you're trying to say. But I personally consider Will Smith a great actor though most of his movies aren't really that great. For example, his performance in 'Ali', 'Pursuit Of Happyness' or 'I Am Legend' prove, for me, that he can be a serious actor too when he wants to. But I also think he needs to work with better directors and find better scripts if he wants to be considered one of the best actors of our time, like, let's say, Tom Hanks. And I say "our time" because I don't think he'll ever reach the level of actors like Marlon Brando, Paul Newman, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro or Jack Nicholson (just to name a few), considered some of the greatest actors ever. Let's be realistic. Hope Will proves me wrong. But, on the other hand, I don't like comparisons. Each actor has his style, and I like Will's style. I like Will's movies. The guy has a lot of talent to act, and I think that's obvious.

Totally agree.

If you have recently found yourself feeling a little lost after leaving the theater of a Will Smith film, it`s ok - you`re supposed to. This is completely normal, and in no way caused by you, response is due to a rider in Will Smith`s current movie contract. This rider in no way changes his salary, affects his commission or royalties, nor restricts him from adding to soundtracks; it does however grant him full creative rights over the 4th quarter of the script. It is at this point in the pre-production process where Will Smith will do re-writes, edits, and augmentations to the script in which the story will be altered to accommodate a new ending that Will Smith has come up with independently, well before the original story for the movie was written. After the final draft has been written by and then approved that same day in the same room without interruption by Will Smith, the production process begins, no other actor of executive questions it, and Will Smith`s IMDB profile gets a billion more hits. The trailer may compromise the plot and give away key scenes but the new ending will remain pure and untouched. Possibly deterring fans from seeing the movie because the movie seems predictable or trite, thus affecting the co-stars but not Will Smith. Will Smith will still draw in the audiences when word gets out that it`s good "the ending is different "but it`s good, I think. I don`t know, maybe you should just wait till it`s on TV. Nobody has enough will power to side step that kind of curiosity that review will elicit. Nobody is exactly sure when the ride was put into effect. It was more than evident in late 2006 and since has been in full bloom, although leaving many wondering if it first occurred in Men In Black 2 or the odd leg shot of Gene Hackman in Enemy of the State. If it did occur in the latter, the rider obviously laid dormant for such movies as Ali and Shark Tale. Sometime around 1998, though, it seems apparent that Will Smith started writing and compiling new endings for future projects. It also seems that Will Smith did not mean to plan too far ahead nor mix and match endings to plots - this has been theorized by remixing endings of his projects and finding that the ending of Seven Pounds would fit perfectly at the end of Shark Tale (a movie where the rider was not acknowledged) as well as the out of place and forced theme of fate at the end of I Am Legend, which suspiciously fits comfortably at the end of 2005`s Hitch and 2006`s The Pursuit of Happyness. These endings may have been scrambled and out of place due to some mild confusion in 2000 when Will Smith did some acting for a Men In Black ride at Universal Studios in which Will Smith already used up a very appropriate ending for a Men In Black story with two Rosario Dawson endings to come up with in the near future while being fresh out of ideas. Evidence appears to point to an unorganized system that Will Smith has been employing from around the late 90`s. If any of you have researched him lately, you know he has many projects coming up and this two year hiatus has hopefully been spent on writing new, original endings. http://thesop.org/story/entertainment/2010/03/09/will-smiths-weird-ending-clause.php
