  1. Ok, I really hate this. We don't know what to believe, is this true, or just some bullsh*t spreading on the internet?...

The sad thing is that these rumors are all because of Tom Cruise... And, I'm not his biggest fan, but if Will continues to be friends with him... Well, these rumors will never stop. Of corse Will cant stop being friends with Tom... That would just make him a douche, and c'mon... It's one of his best friends, he will continue to support him and say that he's not a scientologist... I hope that the media gets tired of writing the scientology stuff about will in a few years...

  2. OH MY GOD!!! IT'S BEEN CONFIRMED! THIS IS A SCIENTOLOGY SCHOOL!!!

... At least according to Perez Hilton, and a bunch of other "news"papers tomorrow...

I'm boycotting all of Wills movies and his music, I don't want to be a part of this cult. I will not be seeing Hancock or Seven Pound or anything else this idiot (Will) puts out!

  3. Man, I hate this! I was looking forward to this movie so much, and now... Why can't they release the movie, and skip the re-shoots! They're just thinking about the money, not the movie. C'mon! The reviews weren't that bad, and BBII had a R rating and went really well at box office... Now, this movie just seems like crap to me, and I'm not looking forward to it very much... We all know what happened to I am Legend, if they would have made that movie a bit more dark and kept the original ending, it would have been great! BLAH!!!!

  4. I think they are making this a happy ending, just like in I am Legend.

    In the script

the movie ends with Hancock sitting on a building, alone, probably drunk... He's right back where he started.

But in these pics the camera is following Will even when all those "fans" are around him. I think that they are gonna do a "he becomes good" ending instead. And that the scenes they shot in New York is to show how the people now love him. BLAH!

    But, that's just a guess. I hope I'm wrong...

  5. Will Smith's Hancock Doing Late Reshoots

My good friend Peter over at SlashFilm was just sent a new photo from the set of Hancock. That's old news, right? Nope - it was taken in Times Square yesterday night. How is that possible when the movie comes out in about a month? Apparently Hancock was doing very late reshoots in New York City yesterday, most likely as a result of the ratings troubles they've encountered that were detailed in this chat with director Peter Berg. Good news? Bad news? Neither really, but definitely interesting and worth noting. I think my interest in Hancock is definitely starting to increase the more I hear about it.

The photo below, taken yesterday, shows Will Smith in his leather superhero outfit that appears at the end of the most recent trailer. The report sent to Peter says that Times Square was packed with extras wearing 1980's-style brightly colored clothes. They shot for 12 hours total in order to get the updated footage that they needed. Principal photography actually finished last November and Peter Berg has been working on editing and the visual effects since then.

In the previous article that we published last week, Peter Berg had mentioned that the film "remained surprisingly sexual, violent and true in spirit to an original script," which had caused it to receive an R-rating twice from the MPAA. My guess is they hit a wall with the ratings board and had to go back and do reshoots in order to fix the issues. They can only edit, trim, and resubmit so many times before they realize the footage they have is R-rated no matter what.

If anything, this could be looked upon as a good thing. Instead of using the Fox method of crafty editing and audio dubbing, they just opted to reshoot it all from scratch. But then again, I could be missing the entire boat with my speculation and it could be a very bad thing. To be honest, I'm going to hold out and still hope for the best with Hancock. Although I hated it initially, I've flip-flopped entirely and now I'm hoping its great - especially with the more darker, violent side that Berg mentioned included.

Hancock is directed by Peter Berg, of The Rundown, Friday Night Lights, and The Kingdom previously. The film's script was written by over five different writers, including John August, Vince Gilligan, Akiva Goldsman, Vincent Ngo, and Peter Berg. Hancock arrives in theaters on July 2nd this summer - Will Smith's own 4th of July weekend spot.

It's quite funny that the guy who wrote this, also wrote this a few months ago:

  6. Thanx for that Ale!

    Another short review:

The movie was actually fun to watch and I was pleasantly surprised. I was at that bridge screening and the audience cheered and clapped when they said it was Hancock. I guessed that it was Hancock before I arrived. Only the 15 year olds thought it was batman, some even thought it was speed racer. That said, the opening sequence was very funny, minus the trailer sex scene (which I am sure they will cut). Will Smith is a hell of an actor. The action scenes are intense and filled with guilty superpowers. There is indeed a nice twist and a decent ending for a summer blockbuster. All in all you should go watch this film. It's about 20x better than fantastic four...

  7. Ok, I just got my hands on the script for this and it was great. But, I have a few questions. I know they have probably changed the script a bit, but...

How do we know that Will is depressed after the death of his wife? In the script he was only trying to make up for the deaths of seven astronauts.

Is there a newer script available? The one I have is from 12-08-05.

  8. Here's something you may or may not know about me: I love Will Smith. Huge fan of the guy; I've thoroughly enjoyed almost all of his movies (I said, almost) and he always gives you a good performance. Obviously, I'm not alone -- if you put Smith in a movie, any movie, you're pretty much guaranteed $100 million at the box office ... and that's a low estimate. However, when it comes to a Will Smith film -- be it small or large -- one thing is always a given: He's gonna play the good guy. His good guy will have flaws, sure, but what protagonist doesn't have flaws?

So as much as I love Will Smith and enjoy shelling out money for his movies, I'm beginning to think the guy needs to change things up a bit -- ie: when will big Willy take on the role of villain? And I don't mean the guy who's not quite good and not quite bad -- kinda shady, what have you (Six Degrees doesn't count either; too early in his career) -- I mean the guy you don't want to cross. The guy who'll crush your skull if you spell his name wrong. The guy you want to drop off a building five minutes into the movie. THAT'S who I want to see Will Smith play. The big question is, though, could he pull it off? Not only that, but would he ever consider such a role in the first place?

Will Smith is the kind of guy who's real into family, and I imagine he consults with them when it comes to every role he takes on. He likes to serve as a good role model for his kids, as well as kids and adults across the country, so I'm not sure he'd even entertain the thought of being a baddie for once -- especially if his kids don't support it.

And could he pull it off? Have we arrived at a point where we're so used to seeing Will Smith in a hero role that to watch him play a villain would throw off everything? Would the film ultimately suffer if a Will Smith character didn't win in the end, or, even worse, was killed off? Could people handle that?! Would the world collapse before our eyes?

What do you think? Would you want to see Smith play a villain? If so, what kind? And name some actors who, after playing good guys for a majority of their careers, decided to play a villain ... and pulled it off successfully. I'll start with the first name: Denzel Washington.

    - Ok, I know we have talked about this a few times before, but this article got me thinking about it all again... I really want Will to play a really bad guy, but I feel it isn't very likely, not in the upcoming 10 years or so anyway.

What do you guys think? Do you want him to play a bad guy or even a villain, and do you think he will ever consider to play one?

I've said it before, and I will say it again... I want to see Will do something jaw-dropingly bad to another person (Killing someone they love, or something like that)... Or be a Tom Cruise in Collateral kind of guy.

    I remember reading this quote...

"I haven't been inspired to play a bad guy, I'm sure there is a bad guy at some point that has the right message. Scarface had the right message about power and drugs and it showed you exactly where that mess was going to end up, so even though it's a tragic story there is a positive message in it."

...and just thinking "NOOOOO!", I't feels like he always have to bee the nice guy in the end...

But yeah, what do you guys think?

  9. About the music...

"'Hancock' is about love and death, and who really are the 'superheros.' The music plays the role of an invisible actor hinting at what is really happening despite what the actors you can see are saying. As the composer, I should be informing the audience of the subtext -- and occasionally, adding some grease under the wheels.

Hancock (Will Smith) is not your typical superhero. He is down on his luck. He is an alcoholic superhero who needs a publicist to fix his image. To complicate matters, he falls for the publicist's wife.

(Director Peter Berg) said he wanted the sound of a huge orchestra playing the blues, so I employed lots of guitars, some 'moaning' (a term for a type of wordless blues singing) and an orchestra of people who have all recently been divorced.

The score's defining sound is a Fender Bassman head and a 1977 Scully 8-track tape machine. Recording with a Scully 8-track is a fairly complicated and time-consuming way to record. Because we are dealing with tape, it is more challenging and there is pressure to get it right in one take. Using the Scully gives the score a unique sound; it gives it a raw, dirty sound similar to the way (blues) records were originally recorded.

  10. I think that this looks great, and it's not even the trailer. It's just an extended tv spot. BUT! I hope that they put some more of the drama bits in the trailer that comes out next week. But even if they don't... This still looks like a great movie!
