This is crazy. From the sound of "Nicki/Who Knows", we can tell it was from the Code Red era. Most of the songs on Code Red were recorded and mixed at Battery Studios. It very well could have been birthed around the time of "I Wanna Rock" with those lives drums and guitar. It's always good to hear Jeff chime in on the vocals. "Dance or Die" is on the Made In America soundtrack and "Don't Fight The Feeling" is from the Japanese release of Jive's Greatest Hits album, as is "Lovely Day/Lovely Daze". They have Code Red and Homebase vibes in their DNA. "Family Christmas" was the b-side to some "I Think I Can Beat Mike Tyson" back in 1989. My impression are that these are songs and skits they recorded at Battery Studios over the years (not 1997) that were put on a demo cassette. Lovely Daze and Don't Fight The Feeling were recorded at Battery Studios. Dance or Die and Family Chrstmas don't list where they were recorded on the releases that I have. I hope the lable that listed this is willing to share, or works out something where the songs are properly released. Jive Records was recently reinstated. They are or RCA likely own the JJ+FP library. I'm not sure if that applies to unreleased music.

Found out about an unreleased album today from 97. Features 24 tracks on, I believe, 2 cassettes I've contacted the record company who uploaded all the info to see if I can get hold of it

'Based on a True Story' - New Album drops March 28
12bit Soul replied to Ale's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
This is dope news. Based on a True Story dropping on March 28 feels long overdue. Will Smith coming back with a full album after 20 years is huge, especially with DJ Jazzy Jeff involved again. That alone brings back a lot of classic energy. The feature list looks strong too. It feels like Will is mixing his old-school roots with a more grown, honest sound. I’m really curious to hear how the full project plays out from start to finish. As someone who loves music culture and sound design over at 12 Bit Soul, it’s always inspiring to see legends return and tell their story on their own terms. Definitely looking forward to this one. -

That is my worst nightmare being stuck under the ice like that. I’m literally about to watch that episode. You’re all sleeping on this if you haven’t seen it yet. -

'Based on a True Story' - New Album drops March 28
Thomas14 replied to Ale's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Will has done something similar in the past, including potential new songs as background music in his videos. So hopefully this time he'll be doing the same and will soon release a new single from Part 2. -

I can’t tell you how much I’m enjoying this. It’s so much better than the other docs. I’ve only seen 3 episodes so far and they’ve got Will climbing ice mountains and messing about with snakes and spiders. It’s funny with Will acting silly, it’s educational and also has some great heartfelt moments. Will petrified in a cave full of poisonous spiders is just hilarious. I have 4 more episodes to watch which I’m really excited for. Honestly if you weren’t really bothered by welcome to Earth, try this one. It’s 10 times better. -
Will Smith accused of predatory behaviour
Jazzy Julie replied to fan 4ever's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Yeah I just can’t see this kind of behaviour coming from Will. I know he’s a celeb and we don’t know him but I’ve known him long enough to know this is not his character. It’s true what the others said. It’s easy to hate on Will now and because of the Oscar’s this kind of stuff is more believable for people that can’t get over that and just want to hate on him. It’s actually quite upsetting. Imagine being accused of stuff like this when your just a genuinely nice guy. That’s gotta hurt a lot when all he’s trying to do is good in the world. -

Yeah someone pointed this out to me. Its defo Will on the song and the scratching really sounds like Jeff. Call me an optimist but really think stuff is still on the way. I think he might of gone back into the studio to change some things coz pretty girls didnt go down well. (I still love it btw) -

Wait…more of this!!!!! I love the beat and scratches -
I’m in agreement here. I will say the first song made me so excited given the throwback style. But it was a lot of different styles in one album. I do want to hear the other two but I also hope for a classic JJFP …maybe coming out of this lackluster situation.

Waiting 20 years to release new music didn't help matters either. Now we got a whole generation that don't even know Will Smith makes music. In those 20 years he could have done something to keep the music alive even if it was only releasing one new song a year/every other year on Spotify/iTunes.

I watched the last Will's short video on facebook from Pole to Pole, and I have noticed, that the song played on the background of the video sounds like his potential new song, there is his voice on this record at the end of the video.
