Men in Black has been available on Blu-ray for nearly four years yet its inferior sequel, Men in Black 2, has failed to make the leap to high definition. Thanks to a new listing at Amazon.com, it appears Men in Black 2 will finally get to see the light of day in 1080p video on May 1. The reason it's coming this year versus say 2008, 2009, 2010 or 2011 isn't because Men in Black was feeling lonely. In case you weren't aware, Men in Black 3 starring Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin and Alice Eve will debut theatrically on May 25, 2012. There's really nothing else to share about Men in Black 2 coming to Blu-ray at this time other than it is coming. Warner Bros Plans More ‘I Am Legend’ With Will Smith EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros has closed deals with Akiva Goldsman and Overbrook Entertainment to do another installment of I Am Legend, the 2007 hit film. The intention is for Will Smith to reprise his role as scientist Robert Neville, who was the last man on Earth doing battle with a mutated mob in New York City after an apocalyptic man-made virus wiped out the population. A deal was made with Arash Amel to write the script. The film is not being called a prequel, which had been rumored for the past few years. But clearly Warner Bros sees more room to roam on a film that grossed $584 million worldwide. The original film is based on the novel by Richard Matheson. Smith won’t commit until the script is ready and I haven’t heard yet where I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence stands on the whole thing. The other quandary is this: If it isn’t a prequel, how to get past Smith’s character’s demise at the first film’s end? These of course are semantics in the tentpole game. Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures are casting a continuation of 300, another hit film where all the major characters croaked. Amel is a hot scribe; his script Grace Of Monaco, the film about Grace Kelly that will be directed by La Vie En Rose‘s Olivier Dahan with Pierre-Ange Le Pogam producing and financing, has all the young actresses salivating. Peter Berg Has '40 Different' Story Ideas For 'Hancock 2' Despite lots of interest, "Hancock 2" has yet to take flight. Back in 2009, screenwriters were hired and the cast of Will Smith, Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman seemed back on board, but the movie stalled out due to scheduling issues. Recently, there's been a renewed interest in the project. Director Peter Berg let it slip that Smith had some great new ideas for the sequel that the two of them had been toying around with. MTV News caught up with Berg recently while he was promoting his new film "Battleship" to try to get the record straight. Turns out a "Hancock 2" will definitely happen ... if he and Smith are able to actually meet with one another. "I've talked to Will Smith about it several times. We're just all busy, you know? It sounds lame, but we're busy and it's hard to get everybody in the same room," Berg said. "Will's got his career and he's obviously very close with his children and their careers are taking off and if we can all figure out a way to get in the same room to hash out a script ... then we'll make the movie." It sounds like that means "Hancock 2" is still a ways off, but at least Berg and Smith do have ideas about the project. Berg wasn't kidding when he said Smith was tossing around some storylines, but the problem is that they can't decide which one they want to use. "We've come up with like 40 different storylines. We all change our minds all the time so we're like hyperactive little kids. Like, 'Oh man, it would be cool if the Internet started a competition on how to kill Hancock?'" Berg teased. ‘After Earth’ extras casting information and first confirmed filming location in Philadelphia As we’ve reported, M. Night Shyamalan’s next movie, staring Will and Jaden Smith, is currently filming in Costa Rica, but is expected to move to the Philadelphia area later this month. After Earth is set 1,000 years into the future and follows a young boy who navigates an abandoned Earth to save himself and his estranged father after their ship crashes. According to NBC Philadelphia, the Budd Manufacturing Facility at 2450 W. Hunting Park Avenue in North Philly has been confirmed as one of the locations they’ll be using during the Philadelphia potion of filming. Heery Casting has also posted two new casting calls looking for a young actor who can pass for Jaden Smith at 3, and teens who can play cadets. As most of you may know Whitney Houston passed away sometime yesterday 2/11/2012. In 1989 Jet Magazine released an issue recapping The American Music Awards which were held January 20, 1989. DJ Jazzy Jeff along with Whitney Houston won two awards that night. Remembering a time where talent was pivotal and African Americans where conquering the entertainment industry, its always nice to go back to the roots of those who made musical history.
