Karyn Parsons recently did an extended interview with DJ Vlad that many of you will probably enjoy.

BRIAMARIE - Bad Habit
432 (2017)
The latest single from BriaMarie, produced by A Touch of Jazz alumni, Carvin & Ivan. That's Carvin playing the old school guy in the very beginning. :D

I've never heard of it or came across it when I was heavily collecting.
-
My assumption is that it's not remastered. It seems like that would have been mentioned on the packaging. At this point, we should be happy that it's not just a typical compilation. There are fans out there who have struggled to get all of the albums. Now they can get them all at once. I imagine a lot of people will get them out of curiosity, assuming they hit stores.

Thanks for the heads up, Nicole!

This is dope! I will be placing an order!

For anyone who loves these songs (I'm pretty sure Tim is loving them), you can get them here, on the group's Bandcamp.

I don't know if these songs were a part of the handful of ones I forgot DJ Jazzy Jeff worked on, or if I just discovered them, but I recently got a promo CD single for a song by Moonchild called "The Truth," which has a DJ Jazzy Jeff & James Poyser Remix. I'm loving it (as well as the B-Side "Nobody"). Needless to say, I'll be checking out more of their stuff. Here's the remix...plus another remix they did for Moonchild. Neo-soul and jazz fans will LOVE this...

Yes, Shock-G is the highlight of Thug Angel. I love that he always does his part to share the real 2Pac with the world. So many naive people think he's this angry gangsta rapper on Deathrow. He has some hard, relentless songs, but they don't compare to what his music as ultimately about.

MUSIQ SOULCHILD - Newness
juslisen (2002)
Man, this takes me back to the the Summer and Autumn of 2002.

Good. I'm looking forward to it. I know it got mixed reviews, but I really enjoyed it. Hopefully the sequel will take it from good to great.

I think everything I think has already been shared. I love the subject matter of the song. I think hyped EDU music takes away from the lyrics and feeling of any song though. It distracts from the actual intention of the song. I agree that a studio version that is properly mixed will do the song proper justice. I prefer classic Hip-Hop from Will, but I still enjoy this kind of thing. I just want to have enough of his classic sound with the new music to appreciate what he did with this track. Jazzy's scratching is one of the highlights to me, and not just because I'm a fan. It takes the track a step back closer to Hip-Hop.
I think it was wise for FP to put this video out. The cellphone videos muffled the sound so much. This helps isolate his vocals some. I think he needs to put a single out now though. The attention on this song is pretty impressive considering all we had was cellphone quality concert videos to document it. After the "Fiesta (Remix)" only had a short lived buzz, I think he missed some opportunities. He needs to milk this, even if an album isn't coming yet.

This is pretty funny, Will's part, specifically.

I love that this post is still buzzing from the performance. I'm SOOOOOOO hoping I get the chance to meet them when the US date(s) comes. I've seen them perform before, but not a full length concert.
I like that they put that official video for "Get Lit." You can hear the lyrics better since the bass overpowers all of the cellphone videos. A lot of articles were talking like "Get Lit" was a JJ+FP song. In the sense that Jeff scratches on it, that's true, but I'm assuming he didn't produce it. The wording he used when he shared the video seemed like he was trying to clarify that this was ultimately one of Will's songs. I felt like FP wasn't posting about the concerts as much initially, so I like that he started to once they had them. It shows that he was really proud of them.
I totally love Brakes' shirt too. I like all of their logos. The one they used for the first three albums is nostalgic to me. It's not necessary the most clever, but it reminds me of a my childhood. I like the Homebase font and Code Red logos equally. I feel like I'd want a shirt with the Hombase group font on the chest and the Code Red logo large on the back.
I'm rambling. I'm still so happy that my favorite group of all time recently rocked shows after such a long time from doing it.

It looks like a set of their studio albums is being released September 15th. Unfortunately it doesn't look like any bonus material is coming with it, but it will make their their music easily available to the masses. It's perfect timing due to the shows and potential future of JJ+FP. The artwork is nothing special, yet cool. I'll likely get it just to support the release. Maybe something about the packaging will be interesting.
Here's a link to a listing I found on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DJ-JAZZY-JEFF-THE-FRESH-PRINCE-ORIGINAL-ALBUM-CLASSICS-5-CD-SET-NEW-15THSEPT-/302418755662?hash=item466990004e:g:Vs8AAOSwSbtZla3a

Welcome to the forum, Dave!
The jokes in that ET article cracked me up. You put Will with Jeff and he instantly becomes hilarious. I love the LL was the one who gave him the nudge and I love that he's got the bug. Good things are going to come of these shows.

DEF SQUAD - Ya'll N****s Aint Ready
El Nino (1998)
Probably my favorite Def Squad song, and this white boy can't even sing the chorus. :-P

Thanks for sharing that, Julie. Loved reading every moment of it!

I love everything that's going on right now. LOL The clips of the show look fun. I know the NEVER do the actual performance justice. I also know that performing live definitely will grab a hold of Will. More shows will follow. I'm surprised he did "Boom! Shake The Room." Don't get me wrong, it's a fine song, but he doesn't like that song and I wouldn't consider it one of their strongest. I guess it's because it was such a huge international hit. It is a good opener. I'm glad "Brand New Funk" and "I Wanna Rock" were in there, as well as the singles that made the medley. I expected the Will Smith solo songs that were selected would be there, though I'd personally replace "Men In Black" with something else. I know it has to be there for the mainstream fans. While my personal taste would be to hear a class Hip-Hop song, "Get Lit" is a unique club banger that can cater for today's top 40 fans.
My favorite part was seeing all of the pictures of you guys on social media. I was geekin' out over those pictures. I expect to hear more details from everyone who went. They'll hold me over until I get to catch a show.

I'm desperately waiting for updates. All I've seen is the pic Jeff put up on Facebook.

The only reason I don't check the board daily is because there are so few replies. It's kind of discouraging to make a post that you think a few people will find interesting, but then there's no dialogue. lol
