^^^i don't need the "creator" of this board callimg me a crumb for stating my opinion. I'm fine with opinions, but I'm tired of u and always putting ppl down for not agreeing with u. Not just me, but others too. If i'm a "crumb" to u, I don't need to or want to give any news to u. So i'm telling just u jumpingjack man, to find it yourself.
I don't want 2 leave, but I'm tired of it here. Plus, I have other boards i'm a part of where ppl discuss rap without being so overly dictative. Thanks 2 u who r being kind even with out disagreements.

i had 2 reply once more just 2 say thanks 2 ya'll who been real good 2 me the short time I've been here. It's been fun. Maybe I will tell some of u the info I get. Who knows. Anyways thanks u guys and I'm not picking on everyone. Just one specific person
-
he'll be on next week but sorry i can't give u all info cuz i'm leaving this board. I love Will a lot, and I'd be more than happy to give u guys what he says during the interview but, since this little dictator (who apparently likes Jumpinjacks) runnin this place is such a hypocrite and a judgemental person, I've made myself mad enuff 2 get outta here. If u wanna know what I mean go to the Switch remix vid topic. I'll be listening 4 sure next week.

just some news 4 ya

I agree. Music shouldn't be so heavily labeled. Music should be about life. Hip-Hop music is based on life coming from Hip-Hop culture and expressing yourself.
Here's a wake up call 4 these fools who talk only about sex, drugs, and jewelry...u aren't making Hip-Hop music. If life dosen't get any deeper than that 4 them, i feel very sorry 4 them.
^^^rappers like... Nick Cannon?!
Huh? :eek4: U think Nick Cannon's music is about sex, drugs, and jewerly!?! :nhawong:
no, but it's generic, materialistic candy rap (if u call it rap)

NWA laughing at "parents just dont understand"? well JJFP was laughing back when they won the Grammy for it and went on to sell like 10 million records. haha
JJFP didnt want to talk about real life, they didnt want to preach to their fans how they should live life as young blacks. I think JJFP and other "soft" groups are better for urban kids then having them listen to NWA and NWA telling them to carry a pistol and make life seem like its harder then it really is.
"make life seem harder than it really is"?? Where do u live the suburbs? Out here in Cali, there are more than enough ghettos, and NWA is one of the groups that depicted how life really is out there. Try going to Compton, Watts, rap records make it less disasterous than reality. U may not approve of gangsta rap, but alot of their voices need to be heard to. if u wonder why poor blacks say **** the police, it's because of the constant racial profiling. Sometimes u need to appreciate gangsta rap for what it is, It's a voice for the people who don't have one in society.

it's not with Will Smith, it's Will FERRELL
-
How is that possible? I thought Will hung out wit Diddy 2 save him from embrassment (which he did). If Puff and Suge was in the same place. uh oh.
well Suge and Puff's beef isn't as strong as it used to be. U can check MTV.com and their article about the backstage stuff at the VMA's. That's where i read it.
-
i know that Ice Cube and Will are cool, and Cube was in NWA. Dr. Dre is nothing but a "gay thug" haha according to 2pac. They've all been dissed before. Dre is a joke. He dissed Eazy E after hooking up with Suge Knight so none of em know what they're talkin about anyways. BTW, did any of u hear about Will chillin with Suge Knight backstage at the VMA lounge this year??

damn looks like another non appearance..add that to the list(will on trl, jeff on trl uk etc)
well when switch finally comes out..you cant say we havent waited for it!! :ridepony: :shaketheroom:
it's not like the Station is cancelling Will's appearance. Will might be thinking of the timing for the release of the record. Will has been on Power 106 many times and is close with the DJ, Big Boy. So don't think of this as some diss to Will.
-
ok guys, i have an update. I was listening to Power 106 and they had a commercial for Thurday's show (tomorrow). They didn't mention Will, so i'm guessin he might not be on this week. On Fridays Big Boy does a long mix with another DJ, so I doubt he'll be on Friday. I'll keep checking for commercials this weekend and next week. If u think about it, next week is the start of November so 'Switch' should be gettin close. I'll keep u updated. Keep this thread goin for now please.
-
^^^i don't know what day he'll be on. On Saturday, they just said "next week Will Smith will be up in the neighborhood." It's Wednesday and he wasn't on, so maybe tomorrow or Friday. I'll try my best 2 give ya'll any news.
-
there's also another positive review at imdb.com from a special screening.
-
he wasn't on today b/c Big Boy and his people were at Las vegas 4 the radio music awards. I'll keep checking this whole week.
-
oh yeah julie.. can you listen to power 106 online?
no u can't hear it online. I'll be listening to it out here in cali tho!
-
I was listening to radio station Power 106 out here in LA, and they said Will Smith is gonna be on their early morning program. It's with radio DJ Big Boy, and the program is called Big Boys neighborhood. They said "next week Will Smith will be up in the neighborhood" but they didn't say why. I'm guessing it's for Switch b/c Will isn't promoting any new movie. I'm always listen to them so I'll keep u guys posted.
-
well u also gotta think about the album release date. Since, it's january, it's better to not put a single out too early. Putting it out now would date the song by three months About 2 months before the album drops is a better timing. Eminem's crappy single just came out recently, and his album drops in December.

Hey that's just your opinion, all those artists you mentioned were all inspired from LL, and I don't feel like making a huge argument over this since this thread is about "Switch" here, let's stay on topic, there are many other mcs that deserve to be dissed in this game before we diss LL, he's done too much for the game to just be ****ted on! :werd: You think LL's soft 'cause he's not cursing in his songs anymore? If you feel that way then you must think FP and Run-DMC are soft too right? :nhawong: Enough of this bull**** 'cause I only wanna know like everyone else when does "Switch" drop, does anyone know? :ditto:
sorry but i had to reply to your post one last time. I brought u this news so be thankful :sonny: . 1st of all, u said all the rappers I mentioned were inspired by LL? Really? Did u ask them that personally? 2nd, i go to other forums where they discuss rap, and I diss Eminem and 50cent, Nelly and Chingy waay more than I diss LL. But the majority of people I know agree 'Headsprung' is ****. 3rd, I don't think LL is soft because he doesn't curse. Mainly because i respect rappers more when they don't. I think not cussing makes things more challenging. You're just drawing conclusions that i never said. i never said LL is soft because he doesn't swear. i'm dissappointed in him b/c i know he's capable of much better but he ain't it no more. if u wanna listen to songs with the lyrics "they call me Big L-eh, Big Sill-eh, Big mon-eh, Big Bill-eh..." be my guest. But compared to songs like 'who do u love?' which also has no cussing, but is his earlier work, 'Headsprung' doesn't cut it. And i have nothing but respect for Run-DMC and i am a Will Smith fan. I'm looking forward to his single. Why would i have brought u all this news if I didn't care about his music?? Think please. You're so opinionated that u think what I'm saying is bull****. Listen to what others gotta say and be more open-minded. End of discussion. Let's talk about Switch
BTW: u would be surprised that at most of the boards I've been to Will gets more respect nowadays than LL. They say at least Will stayed true to himself, while LL continues to dissappoint.
-
^^^yeah emotion and delivery make u a good rapper... please. That's a poor arguement. If you only wanna talk about 'emotions' I'll give u a few with as much or more than LL. 2Pac, DMX, Nas, Talib, tech 9ne... That's based on emotion. I think great rappers are judged by content and lyrics. 2Pac, Biggie, Nas, Mos Def, AZ, the Roots all pass LL. If u want creative, you got Cee-Lo, the Roots, Outkast, all pass LL. I agree that Nelly, Eminem, Chingy and a bunch of others are sucky artists, but LL is soft now. Most people (not on this board) agree with me. He's a pretty boy rapper who just shows off his overly-muscular body.
-
^^^i agree he's a legend, but he's fallen off. you can't say 'Headsprung' is a good song lyrically. A lot of rap heads that i know, think he's just wack. i could name 10 rappers who are lyrically better.
-
^^^'Headsprung' is one of the WORST songs of this year. Along with Eminem's newest 'Just lose it'. Headsprung isn't creative. It's a bunch of nonsense put together into a song. LL lost whatever creativity he had a looong time ago. He doesn't have the lyrical fire that he had when he battled Canibus. And don't bring longevity into this. That has nothing to do with skills. If u want creative make sure you go but Mos Def's "A Beautiful Struggle" or Talib Kweli's newest.

yeah now i just can't wait to hear it...

With 15 years in the music game under his belt, Kwamé is taking advantage of every opportunity that comes his way. In addition to "On Fire," he recently produced singles for Will Smith ("Switch") and Missy Elliott protégé Tweet ("Turn Off the Light").
"Missy collaborated with me on the song's finishing touches and she is a genius," Kwamé said of the Tweet single. "I have always wanted to work with her."
As for "Switch," the producer is quick to note that it is not what you might expect from the family-friendly superstar. "It's not the traditional Will Smith record, but he's not trying to be a gangsta either," said Kwamé. "It's pop-oriented, but with a grimy element."
Kwamé produced several tracks for Smith's forthcoming set as well as T.I., Toni Braxton, Babs of Da Band fame, and the YoungbloodZ.

the article is mostly about kwame and llod Banks, so I took out the part about Will 4 u guys. If u wanna read the whole article, here's the link:

^^^you're right, but actually, I've never really criticized Will that much. I support his collaborations with Luda, Petey Pablo, Kanye, etc 100%. The problem was my "debate" sadly was about Nick Cannon. Just 2 clear that up for ya'll. 2nd i'm not afraid to voice my opinion. Don't think I'm scared and leaving. I've debated far worse with name callin, foul language, etc at other rap boards. The "beefs" or "debates" over here are kitty cat fights compared to the ones u get at allhiphop or sohh, or any other place. I'm not scared at all. Being a girl, (which a lot of u seem to think I'm a guy) I've held my own against guys over there. I'm not afraid at all. Especially not of the AJ character who is a fan of Nick Cannon. There is no need to be afraid of a Nick Cannon fan lol. Hopefully that clears it up. Since i don't want ppl to misinterpret why I'm leaving. I'm out
