  2. Those of you who care to, and are on other message boards, feel free to grab those Rapidshare links I posted of Crazy Chris' mixtapes, and share them around the net.

Send them to all your friends, and have them download.

The more downloads I get, the more points I get, and the more months I can get free on Rapidshare.

    So we all win...sort of.

I already posted my links on the following boards, so don't post them there or people might accuse you of stealing my links: Hip Hop Universe (HHU aka Tha Dope Spot), BX aka Boxden aka It's BX) and RN (Realest Ni99as)

So if you are on another message board other than those three, feel free to post those links and get props or credit or whatever you get on that board.

I hereby bequeath you with permission! lol

btw: Chris allows people to download his mixtapes. When he finishes he posts them on a hip hop board that I'm on, so don't feel like you're "stealing" from Chris. He has in the past refused to accept payment for these, because he just enjoys doing it.

Yeah I know...doesn't make sense to me either. lol

    DJ Crazy Chris

    "Apocamix Now"

    Grade: B+

When Danger Mouse threw Jay-Z's "Black Album" and The Beatles' "White Album" into the blender, he inadvertently let Pandora out of the box. Since the release of "The Grey Album," it seems like every DJ with a laptop has tried to produce the next great mash-up.

The equation is deceptively simple. Take a prominent rapper and set his best verses over top reworked rock & roll classics. It's a cool gimmick with a lot of sonic possibilities, but not even Danger Mouse himself could rise above his own source material.

Needless to say, Charleston's DJ Crazy Chris didn't invent the mash-up, but he might just make it a relevant genre.

On "Apocamix Now," he offers an unconventional approach to the old formula, taking Vietnam-era war anthems from Buffalo Springfield, Jefferson Airplane, Cream and colliding them with a decade's worth of rap stars from Notorious BIG to Common.

Ever wonder what Fifth Dimension's "Aquarius" would sound like with Busta Rhymes rapping overtop the bass line? Probably not. But Crazy Chris makes a pretty strong case for finding out.

  6. Yeah, one with Ready rock C n Jeff, i guess it was the first episode of Yo!

man, that won't have been a freestyle!! will have been planned for sure...

Nobody freestyles off the top. Jay Z even mentioned that in an interview he did with Angie Martinez when discussing the Jay/Nas beef. Jay proposed a pay per view event between him and Nas freestyling, and the winner would donate a million bucks to charity.

He said, and I'm just going by memory (I'll up the audio later) that "I'll have three freestyles, he'll have three...we say freestyle, but it's really already prepared. We'll have three...I have like 50, but we'll have three".

    Something to that effect.

So the idea of a freestyle is a misnomer from the jump.

  7. it's stupid to say that LL is wanting to be Will or jealous of Will just because he starred in a show that was produced by the people that did FPOBA.

The shows are not really that similar, unless you think shows with black casts and a rapper in the lead are the same.

Both Will and LL are legends in Hip Hop, two of the few that have been steady doing their thing since the 80's, and up to today.

To discount LL just because he had a show that wasn't that good, and to chalk him up as being a carbon copy or whatever, is ridiculous.

    Just my two cents worth.

    CT

p.s. I'm not an LL fan really, just don't like insipid comments, is all. no offense to anyone.

  8. Thought I'd throw this thread up too. I have two interviews I'm gonna post up. The first is Will Smith on Hot 97 visiting Angie Martinez (my baby), promoting Hitch and Lost & Found back in February of '06.

The second one is the Jeff/Will interview on Westwood's show right after they finished a concert. Lost & Found was gonna be coming out, I believe.

I'm upping the Angie one now, and the other will follow. Both will be up tonight.

If you have any interviews, please post them up.

    INTERVIEW #1: Angie Martinez Show

    Angie Martinez & Will Smith

    UPDATED!!!

INTERVIEW #2: Will & Jeff on Tim Westwood's show

    Will & Jeff on Westwood

  9. Okay, figured I'd make a thread for people to post up the Will Smith Freestyles that he's done in Radio interviews, or whatever.

The only ones I've heard personally are the two that he did on Westwood.

The Freestyle over Lean Back and the freestyle over How We Do.

I'll post those (Putfile) and if anyone has other ones whether they are audio or video, please post them up.

Maybe this could be a sticky?

    Freestyle over How we Do

    Freestyle over Lean Back

  10. yeah but Eminem came back at them three times as hard and they just crawled away. They did a track called "Slim Anus" making fun of his Slim Shady persona.

So he came back with a couple lines on "Marshall Mathers" where at the end of the verse he was like, "Slim anus? You damn right Slim Anus, I don't get f***** in mine like a a couple of flaming f******"

    ha ha
