    Celebrating the growth of hip-hop, Atlanta has taken the first step to create an Annual Atlanta Hip-hop Film Festival. The festival will conclude with a formal awards ceremony to celebrate hip-hop artists that have made the transition from music to film. The recipients of this year’s celebrity award will be Ice Cube, Mos Def, Queen Latifah, Ludacris and Will Smith. An award will also be presented in honor of Tupac Shakur work in hip-hop.

    This is a unique opportunity to spotlight the synergy of hip-hop and film, two of the most powerful artistic media of our generation. We feel that this year's celebrity award recipients have made significant contributions to both film and hip-hop and we are delighted to have an opportunity to honor them," says Shameka Gumbs, President of Creative Circle Entertainment and Festival Director. Other award categories are Best Hip-hop Feature, Best Hip-hop documentary, Best Music Video, Best Hip-hop Throwback and Best Actress and Actor. Filmmakers interested in submitting an entry should visit www.At1HiphopFilmFest.com for more information. The awards ceremony will be held on April 17, 2005.
